Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner genuinely seems like a good casting.
I'm sorry, I know I'm gonna get hate, but Nathan Fillion being cast in anything gives me pause these days. It's always the typical "please watch our shit, nerds!" move to me.

I guess he's a James Gunn friend too, but that makes it even worse because everyone talked about how he was just going to do a bunch of friend casting once he got rid of Cavill and it seems like that's true too.

Fucking why? How hard is it to just make a fucking Superman movie!?
Is Warner Bros seriously stupid enough to think that rushing another Justice League film after the Snyderverse crashed and burned will work, just because they hired another Marvel guy?
They literally already did that with Joss Whedon and it was a total fucking bomb. Most of the solo films distantly connected to the rest of the others did pretty well. The accountants could easily tell them what the strategy should be.
EDIT: I mean, hell, fucking Aquaman made over a billion dollars. Granted, that was capeshit at its height, but between that, Joker, and Shazam, just do what Marvel did for phase 1. It's not that complicated. The genre's already rapidly becoming box office poison, might as well ape the strategy that turned it into a phenomenon in the first place.

He voiced Hal Jordan in some of the animated films, even if I cannot recall which. Though that was quite a while ago and I doubt his ability to pull of any Green Lantern that's not CGI now.

Warner probably thinks the problem was that the Snyderverse was dark. Whedon couldn't save it because it was already tainted or something.

Now they have James Gunn. They think he'll add retro soundtracks and keep everything light by turning everything into a joke and it will make billions.

I'm sure that's what they think but, again, they did this with Joss Whedon already. Making it a fast-tracked Marvel clone from the start isn't going to make an already bad idea better.

That's Hollywood executives for you.

It makes me wonder just how truly bad Batgirl was now, because it's like they're looking at everything through some sort of math equation or something. "Girls aren't doing well over at Disney. We need to scrap this girl movie. Guardians of the Galaxy did well over at Disney. We need to hire that guy."

so Gunn is basically just copying the Snyderverse but with a bunch of a random quirky humor instead of grimdark.

And watch all the Snyderbros get the blame if Gunn's Superman flops.

I don't dislike the castings, but holy shit they have truly learned absolutely nothing yet again. Just make a simple fucking solo Superman movie without cramming an army of other characters in. Why is this so difficult?

I am so sick of Hollywood retards insisting every single movie has to be an Avengers crossover multiverse clusterfuck.

Worst part is, rushing shit is one of the biggest reasons behind Snyderverse failing. WB essentially forced him to rush a lot of shit, which led to a lot of things being done too early. Something that should've been 5-6 films at least, was being done in 3 films, technically 4 if you count ZSJL as 2 films combined into 1, & 5 if you consider that 1st Wonder Woman film was 50% Znyder's work (other 50% being Allan Heinberg & Jason Fuchs. Tho Zack got cucked out of that by WB too if you check some history on that). Obviously, it's not the ONLY reason, but definitely one of the biggest ones, among others.

Now, they're trying to do the same shit here, & it's even worse cause almost none of the projects have any potential hype to them, making it not worth it. Hell, some of the existent hype is even abated by the shit decisions in general, like

> Henry Cavill getting cucked by WB & Gunn all the time.

> Tom King getting a live-action project, despite another one being cancelled before for a good reason (Reminder, one of DC's most hilarious, & Western Comic Industry's 2nd most hilarious story happens DUE to Tom King). Seriously, probably THE worst project off all could be outta Tom King, anybody who ever bitched about Snyder being "too edgy" will realise what real edgelord-ism is with Tom King.

> Back-to-back 3 flops (Black Adam, Shazam 2, The Flash), the last one is essentially the studio & the DC's biggest flop of all time. With the upcoming film (Blue Battle) also showing no promises of NOT being a flop.

I have no genuine trust in Gunn, despite somewhat liking his The Suicide Squad & kinda liking Peacemaker. Seriously, he may not go full Taika Watiti or Joss Whedon, but GotG 2 onwards, it shows he kinda has a same template of sorts, which somehow makes Taika look like a Gunn rip-off at times. The said template doesn't really work for some franchises (mainly Superman, or most parts of DC in general).

The suits at WB don't realise that said template doesn't work, & might make the same mistake they did with Josstice League, the mistake of trying to make it MCU, & fail horribly.
And watch all the Snyderbros get the blame if Gunn's Superman flops.
I have so less faith in Gunn that I genuinely think there'll be a crash & burn for the franchise in the next 2-3 more movies. If that won't do it, the Tom King film definitely will. If THAT doesn't do it, then that just becomes another proof that most (not all) complains against the Snyderverse could be debunked due to either them being wrong, or genuinely made up by people hating for no reason other than to look cool (this happens with Fast & Furious series a lot too).

Snydersneeders will win, even if by proxy of everyone else losing. I have faith.

I'll be even happier if Gunn's new Superman movie becomes a box office failure. WB needs to teach an important lesson on how they shouldn't get cocky and should instead move on from restarting a shared universe of any of their products, including DC.
Agreed, they're probably better off making single stories about characters (preferably films, instead of shows) instead of making Phases.

After finding his Clark Kent and Lois Lane, James Gunn is furiously moving to populate his Metropolis with a bevy of other DC heroes for Superman: Legacy.

Anthony Carrigan, fresh off an Emmy nomination for his standout work in HBO’s Barry, has been cast as classic DC character Metamorpho, AKA archeologist-turned-hero Rex Mason. He joins the feature that will formally launch DC’s new universe under filmmaker Gunn and his DC Studios co-boss Peter Safran.

Also on the call sheet are Isabela Merced, playing Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific and Gunn stalwart Nathan Fillion as macho Green Lantern Guy Gardner. Those castings were announced Tuesday.

he deals are being made in the shadow of a looming actors strike. A SAG-AFTRA strike could commence as early as midnight PT July 12 and if that were to happen, any negotiations between representatives and studios would stop like speeding bullet hitting the Man of Steel’s chest.

Gunn made some of his choices some time ago, but was been waiting to pull the trigger on deals or reveals until after he found his Kent and Lane. Screen tests for those roles were held only a few weeks ago, with David Corenswet (Pearl) and Rachel Brosnahan( The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) being announced as nabbing the parts June 27.

Legacy has a release date of July 11, 2025 and Gunn is still expecting to shoot early next year, despite a potential strike slowing down Hollywood. The filmmaker is directing and wrote the script, which shows a world that was already filled with a slew of super-powered heroes before Superman’s arrival.

Metamorpho was created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon in 1965 and is a man who can transmutate elements in his body into various forms, taking those properties on as powers. After first being an archeologist, his abilities set him on the path of heroism. He later became a detective and a founding member of the supergroup known as the Outsiders. The wonky look and abilities of the character seem to line up with Gunn’s well-established love for off-center characters that he finds unique ways to highlight and go on to be scene-stealers or emotional cores.

Carrigan played fan favorite NoHo Hank for the complete run of Barry, HBO’s beloved dark comedy that has racked up over 50 Emmy nominations for its four seasons, the last of which wrapped up in May. Carrigan earned three Emmy nominations in the outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series category over that time as well as four SAG Award nominations.

In the movie space, the actor appeared opposite Kevin Hart in the 2021 comedic drama Fatherhood and with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in 2020’s Bill & Ted Face the Music. He will next be seen in Winter’s murder-mystery film The Adults alongside Evan Rachel Wood and Josh Gad.

Carrigan is repped by CAA, Schlegel Entertainment and Goodman Genow

Mildly off topic since it is not related to the DC universes but it's interesting that the last Batman film, which I did not dislike even if I liked it less than any of the other Batman run's first efforts, seems to have been and gone with minimal attention.

I enjoyed him in Gotham, he could manage it.
