iirc the writers for arrow moved over to flash, that's why arrow S3 started to suck (can't remember when the whole olicity shit started), flash S1 was good but then also started to suck. not fast as arrow, but that they had no idea what to do with the flash became more and more obvious (hence the shit going in constant circles, blowing up the cast for something NEW etc.).
Yeah, iirc, one of the original creators of whole CW DC franchise eventually got metoo'd and was forced off all the shows, and the other creator just got bored and moved on. Everything was left to the hack Marc Guggenheim, who is a god awful writer that then drove all the shows into the ground. I remember Guggenheim whining that James Gunn kept ignoring him and icing him out of the upcoming DC films reboot, which is undoubtedly a smart move.

I never did see bvS or the JL movie. Saw WW on a plane and wasn't impressed.

How the fuck did we get to the point where the Gunn Suicide Squad film was the best of the DC capeshit flicks in recent history, if we don't count Joker.

I liked Black Adam better than SUicide Squad. Gunn's movie is just internet memes and quirky random moments. Black Adam was actually a solid film that just got buried for being DC.

You think blue beetle tone deaf trying to pander to a Spanish speaking audiences pathetic. DC making a Batman movie about defending human sacrifices. There a Spanish memes poking fun of white liberals defending the Aztecs.

Wow, I've never wanted to not watch a Batman animated movie so badly in my life. Yeah, I'm totally going to root for a guy protecting a culture of slavery and human sacrifice.

I saw The Flash recently and I'll defend it. There are plenty of things not to like about it but it was well-directed and entertaining. Supergirl was great, and it's a shame that version is one-and-done since we didn't get to see her do much. The director's wife, who is also a producer, is a serious babe and she was the highlight of the behind-the-scenes features.

That said, it has one of the worst scenes in capeshit history when Wonder Woman's lasso of truth makes Batman admit he's a fascist who could end all crime tomorrow but chooses not to because he enjoys beating up persons of color. It's far worse than racist Catwoman bitching about white men.

On their own the Tim Burton Batman movies are good and their impact is great. But they're not good as movies that represent Batman.

I do like Tim Burton, but ever since the 2000s, he has been hit or miss.
I'll take Burton's stylish badass Batman over the faggy "Batman doesn't kill" weeping retard from Se7en The Batman that all the zoomies and sensitive pansexual millennials want.

We didn't.

Superman reboot main characters not counting the setup cameos. More superheroes than Batman v Superman.
Wait...as in The Authority Engineer?
Damnit why can't we just get a Stormwatch film instead. The white guy was the villain, it's perfect for modern sensibilities.
I have seen Supergirl (though couldn't survive past the first couple of seasons and the odd cross-over episode).
It did give us a decent Lex Luthor.
I hear there's a Stargirl show. Wonder if it's watchable or if it's Batwoman-tier trash.
It's good but it is aimed at an audience younger than the CW ones. Still worth a watch.

If I could add one thing, it'd be that the ending scene with Barry saying goodbye to his mother was genuinely heart tugging, and Ezra did a good job with that scene. It had more heart than any of the MCU movies we've had this year.

I know its a big ask for a director to be a fan of the source material, but I can't get over how the director of the only live action Flash movie seemed more excited about Batman and Superman stuff than anything with the Flash. Especially with the digital necromancy bullshit where it feels like the director is soying out over all the dead people cameos (hell he would've put fucking Caesar Romero Joker and Marlon Brando Jor-El over any Flash related character if he didn't cut it out).

The Flash has one of the greatest rogues galleries in comics, and the Director couldn't even be bothered to have a single Flash villain in the film. Instead the only "villains" in the film are mobsters from Gotham, General Zod, and an "original" evil version of the "Annoying Retard" Flash.

Aztec culture is interesting, shame its used to be about fighting spaniards. Even if they drew from mythology, it would've been cool to see an Aztec Myth version of Batman than "FIGHTING LE SPANIARDS".

Though I am going to take a safe bet that Hernan Cortez is going to be the Joker (or he'll be a Spaniard) since every Batman property can't move away from having the Joker in the spotlight (only close exception is The Batman even if the Joker had a small role that amounted to a cameo in both their scenes.)

Only reason the authority being brought into the DCU. Is WB trying to cash in on the popularity of the boys.
I mean DC owned the property and I believe attempted to incorporate some of the characters in the New 52. Don't follow it enough to remember details though.

Honestly The Wildstorm could easily be turned into a live action show with minimal effort. Problem is Ellis is likely persona non grata these days.

Man, I watched the CW Flash/Arrow stuff until the big Crisis event finished with the death of Oliver. It wasn't perfect, but it was entertaining. I found the adaptation of a lot of characters to be hit or miss, but it never got too shitty. I saw some of Supergirl but I only watched it for J'onn. Legends of Tomorrow was kind of a guilty pleasure, but that's also because I just liked the CW Captain Cold.
Legends of Tomorrow had the rare quality of being fairly decent up until the end. Bonkers and going ever increasingly off the rails, but fun. Given the character they set up in the final episode (Booster Gold), I'd have been pretty curious to see where it went.

Also, Damien Dark sending John Constantine flying across the room and saying "Brexit!" was hysterical. Absolutely guilty. Absolutely a pleasure. And as a general rule I don't like overly silly shows so something has to be good to make that work for me. I think the key with LoT was that it just embraced the craziness so sincerely. Like, John Constantine and his squeeze doing a romantic cover of the Clash's 'Ever Fallen in Love (With Somebody You shouldn't have Fallen in Love With)' in order to fend off an alien conquest of Earth should be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. And yet...

I think that, funnily enough, we could just cast Grant Gustin as a DCEU movie Flash and Amell as a DCEU Green Arrow and they'd be perfectly fine. Benoist is a fine enough Supergirl.
Melissa Benoist was very good casting and wouldn't be bad again but she's around 36 now. So she could play the role but I'm not sure she could play the young and slightly naive version of Supergirl which imo is the best draw. I'm not dismissing the version from the Flash movie as that was closer to Superwoman and really not Supergirl as a character. Which I was very fine with, it's just not the same character.

I found the CW Crisis event to just be fun fanservice. Maybe a little too much fanservice, but it was nice of them to even get the Smallville Clark actor to cameo for a scene. Hell, the '90s Flash was the one who pulled a big sacrifice and they had him cornily thinking of Tina, his love interest from that show.
Same. It was a nice send-off and ending for Oliver Queen. And you know, both characters wear green. :)
And having Oliver become The Spectre, only to sacrifice himself all over again. Fun stuff. I know The Arrow kinda just ticked the boxes for a Batman show but with Green Arrow and seemed to have moments where we'd have actors play a relevant character only to just walk off (lmao we had a Wildcat, until the actor just up and left the series abruptly).
The Wildcat character also enabled them to work in Ollie's boxing glove arrow in an absolutely inspired callback.

I don't mind that in many ways they were trying to do a Batman show where they couldn't use Batman. I think what we actually got ended up better. Different hide-outs, differences in character. Like Arrow has killed, Bruce never does. A different though overlapping cast of characters. Like I'm sure we would have still gotten Talia al-ghul, Slade Wilson and others. But the show would have been crowded with the Joker, Scarecrow and all the usuals. Green Arrow felt fresher than I think Batman would have done.

I hear there's a Stargirl show. Wonder if it's watchable or if it's Batwoman-tier trash.
Stargirl is one of the finest TV comicbook shows I have ever seen. I did a thread on it here: https://kiwifarms.st/threads/stargirl.72828/

At the time, I was rating it neck and neck with Doom Patrol Season 1. But ultimately Stargirl won out because firstly I really like shows that make me feel good and uplifted and Stargirl does that. Doom Patrol Season 1 cracked me up but Stargirl made me feel... happy? Secondly, Stargirl remained good through all three seasons. Whilst the third season was a bit more compressed than it should have been due I think to lack of renewal for a fourth season, it also had some absolutely killer scenes and villain that was utterly chilling.

@Morethanabitfoolish says it's geared towards younger viewers and that's undeniably true and yet not in a pandering way. Of course the characters are school age and there's a merciful lack of gratuitous sex and violence. And yet at the same time, the themes are perfectly mature, it's played straight and the violence is at once comicbook but also surprisingly consequential. Case in point, I presume you saw at least some of Netflix's Titans tv show. Adult-rated, torture, heavy violence, etc. And yet if you notice, 15 mins after every fight the heroes look fine. Meanwhile in Stargirl, Hourman still looks like this two episodes after a big battle:

So whilst I fully agree that it is more focused on a younger audience, in many ways it's more realistic in the consequences of violence, people's reactions to death, etc. It is also very smartly written. Seriously - avoid spoilers, don't even watch clips, it's one of the rare shows where twists might actually surprise you.

It's also a complete love-letter to classic era comic books. Simultaneously over the top and completely sincere. I was a real fan of it.

Almost bet you it is going to be some sanitized basic bitch PG-13 depiction of Aztec culture without the human sacrifices and cannibalism. Since whatever violence will be done by the evil white man not the poor innocent Aztecs, ala donut-steal knock-off of Danzig's and Bisley's Jaguer God.

Fire And Ice Batman is a very underrated Batman
