The problem with Nazis in modern media is that you'll always see the same pop-culture Nazi depiction everyone is familiar with. They're basically the generic evil bad guys that are okay to kill. When was the last time some sort of pop media did something interesting with Nazis or fascists?
The real-life Nazi regime didn't annex every single land they conquered; they also established puppet regimes with their own flavors of fascism/Nazism every once in a while. This happened in countries such as France, Croatia, Slovakia, etc. If Germany ever managed to topple the US government (which is basically impossible), they wouldn't occupy it but set up a friendly regime that would develop some sort of American Nazism/fascism, probably with heavy Christian influence (similarly to the Silver Legion of America). They have so many options, and yet they went with the most boring one.
If they really want to do a cartoonishly evil Nazi regime in the USA, why not base it on the Atomwaffen Division or one of its offshoots? They're so ridiculous they have their own
lolcow thread. Not even other neo-Nazis like those guys. I don't think anyone has done a "Neo-Nazi equivalent of ISIS" before, so that would be interesting to watch.

And if they want to have a more realistic Nazi puppet regime instead, then why not have the Nazis conquer the UK? Despite being almost as unlikely as the US getting occupied (naval invasions are hard), it's still a lot more believable and not as overdone. The British Union of Fascists is right there to lead the pro-Nazi puppet regime, but I doubt they would do it since the suffragettes liked Oswald Mosley, and that might upset the writers and the soyboy audience.
