Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

Baldur's Gate.

Its disgusting to me that a game that was so quintessentially dnd, where you go from some little dork running erands to alone in the world to a god of murder... killing green people along the way with some memorable villains and companions.

Turns into this Larian shitshow where you're no longer even a main character and, if the stupid lesbian githyanki bumbles too close to an NPC, suddenly you're reacting as her in conversations. No sense of adventure, wonder, or exploration. Just misplaced humor, tone all of the place, people sperging about how cool mindflayers and cthulhu are...

A remake is coming this year, so I suppose if it sells well we'll end up with a Dead Space 4 to give the series closure?

It was dead, but the upcoming remake has given new life to the series, and may even lead to new games if it does well.

Silent Hill would be a more appropriate example as Konami has shown zero interest in doing anything with it beyond Pachinko shit.

Alien Isolation. Doesn't even have to be Isolation 2 but just copy the game play and set it almost anywhere else. It's been almost a decade since it came out.

Either a SOLO Predator game or a good Alien VS Predator game. Fuck Predator Hunting Grounds.

Decent choice, I had some fun with Sarge's Heroes and that air combat game on the Nintendo 64.

I think there was a spiritual successor to that series on the Xbox One & PS4, but it was multiplayer only.

There was some good discussion about Shining Force and it's failed offshoots earlier in the thread. And I def. wouldn't say it died on the Genesis, it died on the Saturn after Shining Force III only had part 1 localized for North America and Europe. Bless the modding community for translating and releasing parts II and III for burning and playing or emulation. GREAT game. But after that it was shite all the way down on the PS2 and beyond.

Final fantasy is dead to me. I believe the last good final fantasy was 12. I'd rather rip my fucking pubes out than try to play 15, I don't do MMO shit and 13 and it's sequel are boring. 10 2 was elaborate fanfiction garbage.
But I still
Like a junkie, hold out hope that it'll come back. The reveal at the end of stranger of paradise gives me some sort of hope.
