Deadlock - An FPS MOBA by Valve.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If you watched the thing you’d see she’s also one of the other devs wife and they talk about how hard it was to raise their first child while doing crunch time for Half Life.
Thanks for the info. Can I have a time stamp?
I don't like watching long ass videos so I usually play them in the background. So It's a fault at my end.

Alright, since you were chill about it:
0:55:55 - “I was the only woman on the team [exasperated sigh] That was not awesome.” Says two other women were there, one was “kind of office management” and the other was “at the desk”.
I did get Karen mixed up with the woman mentioned right after that segment, where Harry Teasley talks about his wife and child, because she also came in and did some texture work for the game and the wording wasn’t that clear to me at the time.
Could’ve sworn she said a little more about what it was like to work at young Valve with all of the guys around a segment where they also said tensions were running high during development but I’m only skimming just for this timestamp, I’m not rewatching all that.

a new hero shooter was announced called FagPunk that's 3 in the past month(not counting deadlock) you guys think valve will cancel deadlock or they'll try to cut their losses and release it anyway?

Even the art looks better and that's a real fucking disgrace for Valve.
Comparing Concord to Deadlocked: both of them look equally as ugly. It looks identical to the few screens of Deadlocked I've seen where it was still sci-fi.

What the fuck happened after Alyx?

If they don't fix TF2, they will release it. Deadlock is their "TF3" with a "flushed out" competitive mode (remember that Valve tried to make TF2 into a comp. game). They released Dota Underlords and Artifact, so they will release it and just abandon it if it doesn't take off financially. Despite the hate I see on this nigger game, I think will be better than the other hero shooters that are on the horizon, simply because it's Valve and it will be on Steam.

A friend is giving me an invite, he seems to enjoy it so I figure I'll give it a shot. According to him a lot of people are jumping in thinking it'll be like Overwatch/Smite and get their teeth kicked in.

i heard that anyone can get access to the playtest since it is automated, you just need to give your email to someone that's already in the playtest

Please do report back. I'd trust a random farmer, especially one with a TF2 icon, more than anyone elsewhere on this topic.

It plays more like a tps moba than a hero shooter. Think of along the lines of dota if it was a fps shooter (same lead dev.) Btw, valve gave you everything to fix the bot crisis.

It does make me wonder if anyone on the dev team is worried about the oversaturation of hero shooters on the market now. We just had 3 announced in the past 2 weeks alone, and the collective response I've seen with them has been "Ugh, another one?"
I'd say committing so hard to the moba format does a very good job of setting it apart from other hero shooters. If anything, it's an evolution of Smite's gameplay format.

Ignore /v/ propaganda and euro valve shills the game looks like garbage and its gonna flop.
I don't know why those /v/ threads have people trying promote the game with the hideous bat girl as if she's a waifu. Some high levels of poe's law with all those awful commissions. It does really feel like their oblivious shills just because the posts praising it with memes are very SFW in a "how do you fellow kids" sort of way.

Didn't stop them from making Aritfact despite digital card games were dime a dozen for a decade by the time it came out.

/v/ has had several awful shill campaigns just within the last year. The most blatant one I can remember recently is when they tried to act maybe two weeks that Cyberpunk 2077 has suddenly been fixed for reals, and of course this coincided with that anime made off the game, Edgerunners, that was being hyped up. About every one of these posts in some way mentioned the anime. Once enough time had passed that anyone that was going to probably watch the show did, the posts suddenly seemed to disappear.

I finally got my invite and set aside some time to get used to the game and play a few rounds.

Mechanically it's closer to Dota than it is Smite, once you get over the perspective shift - among other things, denying creeps, active items, the very complicated and equally abusable map, secured/unsecured souls (I think this is meant to be analogous to reliable/unreliable gold, not sure) all resonated with my 1200 hours. The verticality and mobility you can get with your dashes and jumps are interesting shakeups, but not everything is a skillshot so spazzing around like a spider monkey on speed isn't going to make you invincible. I think if you're fighting people good at tracking it won't be very different from the undodgeable auto-attacks these games usually have.

Speaking of heroes, the roster is way too small for the number in each game (19 versus 12, compare to Dota having well over 100 total and two less people per match). I'm willing to chalk that up to it being in such an early state, I can't imagine it'll stay that way. It makes games feel exactly the same after about three or four matches.

I think it's decent in a better-than-I-expected-but-my-expectations-were-low kind of way. It might even have the potential to be good once it's in a more complete state. However, Valve will definitely need to market this as a MOBA with shooter mechanics and not a (hero) shooter with MOBA mechanics, if that makes sense. The way everyone responded at first makes me think it'll be dead on arrival if they get that wrong, regardless of if it's actually a good game or not.
