This was pointed out in the Castle SuperBeastcast, but that apartment that the lady is interviewing that weird withered looking man in the DP2 trailer is the same one from Sweary’s “D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die” which also features time travel.
2. Suda51 and Swery65 are going to have an event on October 23 where they're going to talk about Travis Strikes Again Complete Edition for PS4 and PC, Deadly Premonition 2, and a "secret project" the two are working on together.
Here's a page with more info. When I used Google translate, it gave me the phrase "secret project", but considering the context, I don't think it's inaccurate.
Sorry for the necro and double post, but I was wondering if anyone had watched the trailer that Japan saw at the Direct yet. It features different footage including that of old man Zach and a very brief shooting section.
But most importantly, York can go skateboarding now.
Pretty stable for the most part. It initially had an audio problem where the audio might just stop and you'd need to close the game and start it again, but they released a patch for that. I played through the whole game and only experienced 3 crashes which isn't even as bad as it sounds. It's still janky, but it was pretty playable for me. Right now it's only available digitally on the Switch, but a physical release is coming in November via Aksys Games.

Huh, I was wondering if they would remove the combat, Sweary didn't want it in the game and those sections were complete shit. Removing it would remove the bosses though and those were memorable reveals in the story. Plus the combat/action sections made returning to the world so refreshing, they were a palate cleanser of the piss gargling variety.

I was also wondering because at the beginning of Deadly Premonition York mentions it was the first time he'd been attacked so directly. Apparently he forgot all about that fight against the bondage door demon.
Swery did an interview with IGN Japan, apparently as the opener of a series where they plan on interviewing devs stuck at home. He said he and his team are all doing well and talked about upcoming projects, one he's doing with Suda51 (which I wasn't aware of) and a new cell phone game.
In the DP2 video he shows David Young's apartment and talks about the reference in it (hopefully we'll get some kind of closure since D42 never ever) but it's in Japanese so hopefully we'll get a translation at some point. The major reveal is he plans on dropping some DP2 news at some point next week.
1. Summary: 1. Health: I am fine. Also my team, White Owls are all good.
2. Business: Remote work is fit and be working well for us. I am working 3 project now. (other than "Hotel Barcelona") The Good Life: Going well DP2: Something will happen in next week One more: New something for mobile

It doesn't have the epilogue and additional suits from the PS3/PC version, but overall it's really stable. I think it only crashed on me twice which is saying a lot for Deadly Premonition.
Just finished orgins on the switch because me and my freinds just kept memeing "FK in the Coffee" since high school, kinda have a strange take on the game, didnt do most of the side quests
chronicled my thoughts into two spoiler sections, spoilers for those who didn't finish the game of course
It was sorta like being on a massive acid trip while playing an adventure game, an RE4 inspired TPS, along with one of those GTA rip offs on the ps2 in one. All on a obviously shoe string AA budget
To start I will say something probably the least controversial thing ever said, York is probably one of my favorite protagonists in any game ever. He's kyle hyde meets redlettermedia with a dash of crazy in him. theres a reason he's coming back for 2. The most memerebale scenes involve his antics, guy's just fun to see on screen and his backstory is compelling as hell especially when the zack shit is revealed.
I went into the story mostly blind, the only things I really remembered from watching lets plays back in the day was 1. kasen was a bad guy but that was kinda obvious when he shows up with the tree anyway and 2. york becomes zack in the final fight, even then the game kept finding new ways to surprise me like the weird shit with Thomas being a cross dresser, the proto senetor armswood, and even how york gets made in the first place
The gameplay is fine, the driving sucks shit, the third person combat is variable in quality, the ak doesn't have a punch but man once you get the shotgun and magnum things start to get fun, I can see why people consider it rough though. the investigation scenes are the definite highlight of the game to me, it sort of is like a mixture of the old school lucasarts shit with the Ace attorney investigations games, this along with the TPS elements kinda paced the game where both were breathers from each other. this along with the Hotel Dusk style recaps at the end of the early chapters leaves a good impression.
I would describe the game as a "Survival Thriller" rather then any type of horror, as while resource management is a much smaller part of the game, all the shit it throws at you feels a lot more like a "psycho" then a traditional dawn of the dead or Friday the 13th sort of thing.
The graphics and soundtrack were just cheesy enough to really get me invested in the characters, especially the sound track but I don't need to mention "life is beautiful and "FBI Special agent" as those tracks fame/infamy precedes themselves, and most of the cast gave at least half way decent performances for the time, with special exception of york/zack excelled above the rest of the cast
And that ending man, I was seeing the story go like 20 different directions and was thinking in the back of my mind "WTF where is this all going Swery?" and surprisingly the man was able to make one of the most tied up yet satisfying endings to a game I have played
Overall, Much like how I view the last of us to embody the good and bad of the 7th gen, deadly premonition does the same for the PS2 era, funnily enough as it was delayed from the 6th gen to the 7th due to the twin peaks shit. It also incorporates a lot of shit from the obscure japanese games I fawn over that usually have some form of cult following around them
Overall probably wouldn't say its one of the "best games" I played due to its various technical issues on all versions but I would say it would probably be number 10 on one of my "favorite games I ever played" defiantly the best 15 bucks I spent
though I do worry if 2 will live up to it, considering part of the charm of 1 imo is the jank even if it hurt the game at points, plus a director coming back to an old work can often have its own issues, but I'm a tad optimistic as most of swery's other projects since DP have gotten a good critical reception and plus, also got Nintendo interested enough to fund it while not shunning it like they did with devils third
okay so I get that the shadows are apparently related to the red seeds and the purple smog the goverment used in the 50's but apparently it was ghosts? I just thought that they were just re-animated corpses acing on instinct from the laitant soil that was tainted by the experiment.
also I'm still confused on what the nightmare world itself was, at first I thought it was kinda a "mind state" that york got into when in deep investigations or situations but then Emily and the other characters started to experience it's effects as well so maybe it's just that yorks connection to Kayson made him more in tune with the other world?

It’s helps to understand if you’ve seen Twin Peaks. And you should definitely go back and try some of the side content if you get the chance. Mainly gives more on all the weirdo characters

There's a few different interpretations, but I'm gonna give you mine, since I've read the guides and interviews, and I've also played most of the other SWERY titles. I'm not saying I've absolutely got the real interpretation (this is a SWERY title after all), just an educated guess. It's possible that we're all looking at this from a slightly altered perspective, and that we're just seeing this from York's view, which would explain a bit, but Emily runs into the nightmare phenomenon later, and that punches a hole right through that logic, so here goes.
Whether due to consumption of the red seeds or something darker, Kaysen is not fully human anymore. He comes across as personable early on, but it's all an act, and he's in reality one of the most vile, despicable characters in the entire game, and to achieve that in a game that has as certain other antagonist is lifetime achievement award material. His whole purpose is spreading the seeds and urging people to become as monstrous as he is, which is why he tries to encourage others to murder. During the flashback from the 50s, you can see him having the time of his life during the chemical deployment.
The Nightmare is a manifestation of the evil brought about by Kaysen. York, having met (and been scarred by) Kaysen at a very young age, is acutely aware of it, but with Kaysen's return and the nasty business going on in town, the manifestation is getting to the point where basically anyone can get pulled in, as happened with Emily. Most of Greenvale is blissfully unaware, but Harry knows, which is why he wears the rebreather: trace amounts of the purple fog can be released when it rains heavily. Every night, between 12AM and 6AM, you can see this yourself, as Shadows will manifest basically everywhere outside, as well as other, far worse entities (PROTIP: avoid driving unless you want a quick game over or have The Yorkmobile). Once Kaysen dies, the Nightmare phenomenon at 12AM ends.
The one thing we do have absolute lore on is the Shadows: They're the reanimated spirits of those who died during the purple fog deployment. Harry gives you a full breakdown of what the fog actually does to people, and he only survived it because he was knocked out as the rest of the town gleefully murdered one another. According to SWERY, the Shadows want nothing more than to escape the nightmare, but they've become insane and are just as murderous as they were went put down, which is why you hear them scream shit like "LET ME DIE!!" and "WANT YOUR BODY..." That last one isn't an idle threat; if they pull off their grab attack on York, they will actually bodily force their way into his mouth, killing you instantly via possession.

Didn't realize that I'd already posted my crash count posts that close to each other . The first one says 3, so I'm thinking I said two the second time because there were probably 2 memorable crashes and one forgettable. DP is interesting to me because even something like a crash really doesn't set you back that much.
In other news, you can pre-order and pre-install DP2 from the eshop now. I was suprised at how much smaller it was than the first game at 4.8GB compared to 6.4GB for Origins. I'm thinking that they're probably being more efficient with resources this time around.

I would watch TP, but its a massive investment from what I heard and considering how I heard the second season was a slog rather not do it right now, plus I'm not really familiar with lynch as a whole.
as for the sidequests, probably one day, but been busy due to irl shit and also need to get some gameplay footage for a side project I'm doing, along with xenoblade coming out this month so I decided to just do the main shit for DP

It might be clarified whenever 2 comes out since we have seen the otherworld or something similar to it in the trailers, and I don't see york somehow getting involved in two separately otherworldy dimensions that just happen to look eerily similar
though the fact that the shadows are swapped out for more lovecraftian abominations makes me thing it might just be a terminal for the supernatural or something, sorta like the building in ghostbusters in a way. anyone with evil intentions can warp or manipulate it like kayson did but not necessarily being the cause of it
though I already am wondering how the fuck Zack got so old within what, 11 years when he was around 31 and he looks like he could be in an old folks home
speaking of the shadows, so that means they basically are a spiritual parasite looking for a host to possess for their return, intresting.

I think the VA for york said swery is using a lot of the new tech made since the first game to make this one much more efficiently, which makes sense since he has alot more exepriance now along with the fact that engines like unreal are easier to use now. not sure what DP2 uses for its engine but it's gotta be made with something more weildly
