Do you really think people would post that stuff in threads instead if chat didn't exist? I'd argue that stuff is only posted there because of the casual nature of chat, not because they feel the need to post it somewhere and if they didn't have chat, they'd post it somewhere else instead.

Chat goes against the spirit of Kiwifarms and the archive everything mentality as it actively discourages posters from contributing to threads. and creates a sort of black hole of forum drama and entertainment that could be better used and archived in a thread.
