America is the biggest superpower in the world we could fuck every single army at the same time
Dude we just got our asses handed to us by a bunch of semi-illiterate goat herders after a 20-year war that burned 8 trillion dollars only for the chinese to swoop in and get to actually make money off that place.

Enough with the fucking cope.

American cuts of beef are generally superior to European cuts
Not to powerlevel, but my family runs a black angus cattle ranch. It's laughable how bad the cuts are in the US compared to homegrown, and what's even more embarrassing is the deli cuts in the EU compared to the US.
homegrown > US/Japanese (beef) > Asia (weirdly) for stuff like fowl > Europe. Germans and most East Europeans IMO have the only good kind of meat product which is their sausage/kielbasa/dried meats. Thre's a great book about the power of food in national narratives/imaginaries/myths and I believe Josh may be too taken up into the narratives (since arguably the US lacks similar connections to food preparation -- food consumption may be different). (book: Ingredients of Change: The History and Culture of Food in Modern Bulgaria)

There are several bakeries in every small city. My chick gets fresh French bread every Monday to eat with our red beans and rice. If you want quality meat, you go to a butcher, but the meat they sell at the butcher in the grocery store is fine for everyday use. If you live on the coast, you can get Fresh seafood daily at a seafood market and you probably know at least a few people who fish and will give you some to put in your freezer whenever they go. Most people know a farmers market or two where they can get fresh fruit and vegetables. I think people that come from Florida might not understand because they have a billion different chain restaurants and you people must just go to them and leave it at that. Florida is the test market for every big chain restaurant in America.

We know certain places in Europe are big on eating. The French invented fine dining and the Italians are great at food too. But it's no big surprise that an unmarried guy whose into websites and tech isn't familiar with good eating and variety. That's okay though. We need focused nerds with narrow interests or we wouldn't have computers and fun websites like this.
I like the Americans in this thread who have a sense of humor about the cheese situation in their country.
The cheese point could be valid because I don't know a fucking thing about cheeses. Doughy Midwesterners would probably know more about this subject.

Downdoot me as much as you want, but I think unwalkable cities are to blame for bad bread in the USA

Going to the bakery every day/week is a part of culture in many parts of the world, but when you have to drive everywhere then it kinda loses its purpose. You may as well buy processed bread during your Walmart shopping spree instead of wasting your time driving to the nearest bakery

Alright, let's all calm down and come to a realization. We're all unwillingly scouting an area for Josh to live when he returns to the States. Let's take this opportunity to gaslight him into believing some ghetto infested area has the best meats and cheese.
Null is basically Louis de Funes looking for a good cut of meat in New York

Americans do not have access to real cheese, local meat, or fresh baked bread.
Within 30 miles of me:
  • a pig farm that sells their own pork
  • a cattle farm that sells their own beef
  • a bakery/bistro thing that sells fresh bread there and in the grocery store the next town over
  • a dairy that sells their own milk
And you might think if you walk down to your local deli you can buy a cut right off a local cow. WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! It is FEDERALLY ILLEGAL to sell meat you butchered yourself. The only way you buy local meat butchered by a guy you know is to buy half of an entire cow to get what is called 'custom meat', which CANNOT be sold as individual cuts. ALL meat in the US is from slaughterhouses.
The only difference between custom meat processors and ones that can sell individual cuts is paperwork. My local meat processor does both custom and private label (for the pig farm and beef farm) work.

Going to use this thread as an opportunity to shill Adam Raguseas bread recipe. Its so simple (Flour, salt, yeast, water), if you have a dutch oven you have zero excuses. I like to put some dill into it and eat with Kerrygold butter.

Stop buying shitty store bread and make your own!
Based breadbaking bro right here!

You all might shit on bongers like me, but if there's one thing we have over you Yanks it's our cave-aged cheddar. YWNHRC (You Will Never Have Real Cheddar).

Bread: available readily but one must go to a bakery not a grocery store to obtain.

Meat: obtainable from butcher shops but that is expensive. Poor fags barter with their local hunters and fishers where I am. Yes that means beef is off the table for barter. Pork, chicken, duck, some fish, and deer are on the table. Some poor fag oddities are also available and can be good if you know how to cook them (tree rat aka squirrel for starters) Raising chickens and rabbits is also reasonable for rural and my long term goal.

Cheese: local cheese is not available. Good cheese is. Because its imported from Europe. Expect to pay through the nose but you can get it if you drive to the city.

Also to add you can easily buy live seafood or pick what you want and watch the man clean it on the right parts of the coast.

this is quite literally not true. im sorry you grew up in the shithole that is florida, but custom slaughters are very common in the midwest. you can absolutely bring a whole ass live cow to a local state-inspected slaughter facility and sell the packaged meat at your own butcher shop or grocery store.
midwest supremacy. this guy doesn't know you can take a deer you killed yourself to a processor and get it butchered for a small fee.

man I can't wait for China to start killing Amerimutt mercenaries
Given how the country china ripped everything bout its military off has been faring at the whole "war" thing these last two years I wouldn't get ones hopes up

Also obligatory chink on pajeet border stickfight footage (incidentally their only military experience the in several decades)

My Kroger has a premium cheese aisle, but I live in a city and said Kroger is in the nicer part of town. If I head to the crappier Kroger forget it it’s AMERICAN CHEESE and Preshredded Slop.

What pisses me off is them selling steaks and the steaks are sliced paper thin w/ no marbling. This is a trick to sell you minute steaks at premium pricing. If there wasn’t a Costco and a legit local Butcher Shop I’d be fucked and again I live in the city.
