There's some great songs but definitely the genre tropes of egotistical bragging and glorifying drug use, violence, mistreating women, etc. are greatly damaging to society.

No modern rap is garbage and awful. I mute the TV now because even the most barebones adverts have now resorted to using the worst rap music that I’ve ever heard. The fact that these daytime TV adverts are exposing children to such earrape should be a crime in itself. I like some Tupac every once in a while but this new “rap” is just terrible.

Where did it go wrong? Too many SoundCloud mumble rappers or influencers that fancy themselves musical geniuses. MTV and social media spotlighting talentless people who can’t rap or sound the same. Even white trash whitey is to partly blame for listening, mimicking and producing their own shit like MC grime.

90s rap was actually wholesome, mostly coherent and consisted of content other than "bitches, cash, guns and fame"

Will Smith's songs for example, as cheesy as they are now, are still notable in popular culture and hold up in a sea of hoodrat birdsong.

Not gonna lie I listen to some really ignorant ass rap and I do enjoy it but I'd be hard pressed to say it helps society in any way.

I think it'll happen because it has to happen, at some point the ghetto culture mindset will become so toxic that either civilization will have to destroy it or it will destroy civilization and like antibodies attacking a virus, one way or the other, civilization will purge itself of this poison before it allows itself to be destroyed.

That doesn't necessarily mean there has to be violence (and I'm not personally advocating for any) but just life becoming so fucking miserable in that situation that a large number of blacks simply wake up and either force the change or get the hell out of there and the ghetto will be something more contained and isolated like it used to be as the blacks that aren't able to get a better attitude just stew in their misery and I guess eventually it'll become so bad it'll wipe itself out.

It's not something that can last forever because it simply isn't something that's tenable, I think the likeliest scenario is we're simply going to see a wave of people waking the fuck up and not tolerating the stuff that has damaged America so badly.

Criminality unchecked can do a lot of damage but ultimately it destroys itself because it's not possible for people to not simply go "enough is fucking enough" eventually and stop leaving it unchecked.

Back in the 60’s, before the dissolution of the gold standard, money was backed by tangible value instead of a promise to be able to pay. Inflation was negligible and the minimum wage was liveable, meaning few people were forced into crime to support themselves.
These days even having two minimum wage jobs isn’t enough and even the pettiest nonviolent crime is enough to see people excluded from almost all employment.

Into this fertile soil of massive economic disempowerment and social dysfunction comes the rapper, complete with multiple crimes, waving wads of cash, posing with fast cars and faster women, displaying jewelry both vulgar and expensive. No wonder younger black guys want to emulate this!

Gangster rap, drill rap and club rap are interesting in that they are both symptom and pathogen at the same time. I absolutely believe that the culture they spring from is another form of elite money-generating exercise. Without a fundamental reform of the economic system this culture will continue to fester and inevitably lead to massive violence. It sets black people and their popular culture on a collision course with society as a whole, and that’s a dire situation to be in.

How is Lil Pump, etc. the equivalent of AC/DC and other classic groups.? You should have at least said Wu Tang Clan or NWA or Souls of Mischief or EPMD or something older. Do you only know current radio rap?
