Ralph isn’t going to California for his next hearing. He decided to do it over zoom.
I can’t believe he’s actually going to represent himself and thinks family court is going to be lenient with him.
There’s no way for Gunt to win in Court. Absolutely 0 ways to win. This is why most attorneys refused to take the case for him and the only one who agreed wanted $15k up-front, because the case is a guaranteed loser and that means that the LOLyer is left holding the bag because there’s no way to go after the other side for legal fees when Gunt loses and there’s no way to make Gunt pay after the fact, can’t draw blood from a stone and all that.
The best that a LOLyer could do would be to try and negotiate a settlement and, barring that, try and delay the inevitable loss long enough to possibly let the other side cool down, become impatient, want the whole thing to be over, etc.
In this case, there’s no room for settlement and never will be because Vickers doesn’t want to settle. He wants to hurt Gunt and is using lawfare to do it.
The only thing left to do is delay, delay, delay, and hope that the situation somehow changes before the hammer finally falls. A good LOLyer could drag things out a LONG time, with continuance after continuance, wasting time on depositions/mediation trying to exhaust Vickers and bring him to the table to end it. Remember that the vast majority of cases never go to trial, they settle. Judges get pissed off when people refuse to settle. A good LOLyer could make the case if Gunt would just shut up that Gunt WANTS to settle, but Vickers won’t listen. Flip the script, so to speak.
Gunt isn’t a good LOLyer. He isn’t a LOLyer at all, though he claims to have taken a law class during his failed attempt to gain a degree in college. He’ll try and delay because even an imbecile like him can see that that’s the only play, but as incompetent as he is it won’t work for long. I think he’ll get a continuance on the 17th just due to the fact that he’s lost LOLyer Grainger and is now attempting to represent himself, but after that he’s screwed. If he shows up on Zoom unprepared for the hearing that gets scheduled on March 17, the Judge is going to order him to appear in person for the one after that. If he shows up unprepared for that or no-shows, then the Judge is going to find Gunt in contempt, rule in Vickers favor, a lot of bad shit for Gunt is going to happen and Gunt knows it which is why he’s attempting to drown out that knowledge with alcohol and Xanax.
