I've never seen others with Asperger's or HFA act the way Chris does.

And he denies reality constantly. It's his biggest and best defense mechanism.

I always just assumed that when he said that, he was paraphrasing a TV ad or something without really thinking about the meaning of what he was saying.
 
A lot of people seem to forget that Chris has the mind of a very young child. That one video where he wins the Sonic contest, that is basically still the Chris we see today, mentally. Only with hormones making him horny and him not knowing what to do.


Like when somebody in the early chris days photoshopped a sonichu in a gay pride parade float. Chris genuinely believed it to be true and got angry about it.

That's exactly him to a tee.

I would likely feel a lot of pity for the guy if he didn't do all the awful things he has - his fights with Snyder and homophobic comments - but even CHILDREN learn what's right and wrong, which is a skill Chris lacks

The joys of one's problem-solving skills having not developed since childhood. Borb really fucked him on that one - the pampering, explaining away of failings, and insulating from consequences that they subjected Chris to as ostensibly "good parenting" is inexcusable. For a neurotypical child, that kind of treatment can produce real difficulties interacting with the world around them. For an autistic kid like Chris, it's devastating.

As much as Chris is the author of his own suffering, I can't help but think that a large portion of his inadequacy in facing adult life is rooted in how his parents raised him.

Their parenting seems to have been more ot less improvisational: each day brought a new challenge, and the only goal was to get through that day. There was no medium or long-term plan. This is how you end up with things like Barb bribing Chris with toys for speech.

It's feelsy to contemplate the optimism expressed in this video, where Chris's obsession with Sonic was considered a sign of him getting better.

The way I see it, denial is just a form of delusion.

Delusion is a blanket statement that can explain a lot of Chris's behaviour, including (but not limited to) his capacity for denial, his colossal ego (in spite of how pathetic he and his life is), his entitlement and the tremendous hypocrisy he often displays (like when he mocks people for living off welfare or being fat, etc).

I think delusion is the main problem, denial is just one symptom of that problem: the main underlying cause of which is autism, maltreatment of said autism and shit parenting. In short, the recipe for OPL.

One instance of both delusion and ignorance in Chris that I remember is when he was featured on Web Soup, a show dedicated to making fun of people on the internet. However, he thought it was meant to honor him, and made a video saying he was honored to have been featured (with a big grin on his face, no less). He then went on to let any ladies who might have seen him on the show know that he was still single and and looking, so they should call him or find him if they want to give him china.

The ignorance was so thick you could have cut it with a knife.

I haven't been able to find it. I know Chris' video response was in the CWCLibary until recently. Maybe Marvin managed to collect it.
 
I've always wondered why chris loves bringing up his supposed cherokee ancestry. He must think cherokee is just another white ethnic group which isnt surprising considering his father and most other people claiming native american ancestry are otherwise white people with zero or very little native dna. Just look at how he drew the cherokee in sonichu. Has anyone ever asked him if he knows that real native americans arent white?

Forgive me for being dumb, but I was wondering if those photos of Chris drinking his Navy and one of Barb snoring that got displayed on a digital billboard in Times Square were real or were they shoops as well?
 
A little of Column A, a little of Column B I think. On the one hand, he has learned enough over the years that he's aware of trolls, not to mention learned that his Attraction Sign wasn't presenting him in a good light. So when he gets/got his hopes up that this next 'sweetheart from the ground up' is the TRUE and HONEST one, he's denying a pattern from his past mistakes in favor of digging to China. He knows better, but damn it if he'll let a little lesson learned get in the way.

On the other hand, the whole GameStop incident at least partially suggests he really thinks he's the victim and others are conspiring against him (and, by extension, LGBT people E'RYWHERE). So you have two problems right there. He hasn't fully grasped that he hoisted himself by his own sweaty, greasy petard, on top of thinking that what happens to him is normal/indicative of a larger issue (when in fact neither are truly defensible positions).
 
A petard is an explosive (that would, yes, hoist a person into the air if they were standing on it when it went off). How you are imagining it being sweaty and greasy, I don't know, but it's from the French for "fart," so that works for Chris, I guess. /lazy pedant

Well, it is Chris. I would assume his farts are explosive, sweat, and greasy, though before now I never really given them much thought. Damn you, mental imagery!
