Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)

Whatever you think of government, bloated, not bloated enough, shouldn't exist, I don't think you can ever really make an argument that says "less oversight = good", whether that's an agency or Congress. Or at the very least, oversight in areas where it's historically been an issue (banking) and maybe not where there's no evidence of fraud (9/11 responders getting benefits).
Yeah I can. Oversight can easily spiral into bureaucratic nightmare and corrupt petty tyrants making life miserable for everyone. Look at the UK where making a fucking bungalow in your backyard requires 15 different forms as well as the authorization of the "local council" that will absolutely fuck you if you ever hurt their feelings. It's like the myth of "common sense" gun control.

Elon's email is in his thread, but here's the rest of DOGE:

How could this have happened (L)? Why is there no government agency to stop this?

Wait, when did that happen? FFS I hate republicans almost as much as i hate dems sometimes. We need to start treating establishment (elite) republicans and libertardian ones like witches during the times of witch hunting, till they are no more in the party.

Wednesday night, one of those quick moving pieces of legislation that you have to laugh at since nothing is done quick in DC.

Also almost as hilarious, chief uncle tom of the Senate put this out on Friday (he and every Republican on that committee voted for in favor of that rule on Wednesday of course):

Interesting, good i guess. Not so good if that is the beginning and end of what they plan. Need to read up on exactly what it does. People need to pay attention either way. It is certainly protections that need to be written into law, not regulatory rules etc. Too easy to ignore, subvert and get rid of.

Still think big PPs need to be treated/regulated like other financial services. (as merely an opening shot to be sure)

Thanks for the heads up. Too much going on.
