it's worse than that. Bungie HAS the old files. but the retarded devs at the prime studio are unable to make it run with the current builds of the game. meanwhile the chink crew over on the spinoff Destiny Rising are able to access and get the Year 1 content running just fine.
 
Its been a long fucking day coming I can't believe retards really kept playing, buying, supporting Bungie after this early blunder, but after all retards bought l4d2 a year after l4d.

I'm actually glad they fumbled halo and destiny, so I could actually find some quality games.

So I knew (in my heart of hearts) that there was this exact thing on the Destiny reddit from 2+ years ago asking 'so what happens if Marathon flops' and I was like 'oh fuck I should archive this in case it gets retconned because it would be funny' and someone archived it almost 3 years ago :story:
Obviously, I am aware that at this time the Destiny 2 player numbers were more like:

L4D and L4D2 are both the shit tho. There really wasn't the cope of "Oh, well you just need to go read the Grimoire" "Oh this DLC was shit but that is because they needed to build up to the next one" "Yeah maybe this skin is $27 but without it how would they fund the game?" like we've had damn near all of Destiny's lifecycle now.

Bungie Halo(s) weren't all 10/10s to be sure, it peaked at Halo 3, ODST should have been a DLC not a standalone, Reach was fun but it started to take away the "party game" feel to try and weasel its way into the MLG bullshit everyone thought was going to be the "next major sport" because who doesn't like watching 10 greasy nerds sitting in front of computer screens, right? The only real "fumbles" were after they gave up the rights to Microsoft (who then formed 343 to [mis]manage the IP).

There's marathon references in destiny and hell the title is a reference to the ending of classic marathon so I assumed they'd eventually have some convergence between destiny and nu-marathon but I guess that'd require competent devs.
If bungie somehow thinks this will lead to destiny players accepting it ending and moving on to marathon they are more retarded then I ever imagined. As someone who loved titanfall 2 and despise apex legands people arnt enthusiastic about the thing the love being replaces.

I’m fairly convinced, considering that D2 is making more money than marathon is, that it isn’t about trying to save Marathon. Sony is gonna let Bungie release Season 2 to milk MTX’s and then gut the whole company.

I don't remember if it was a self-insert or not, but he definitely confirmed that Osiris and Saint being fudgepackers was his headcanon that he crowbarred into being actual canon as soon as he got hired as a writer.

Infamously, Destiny 1 had a bunch of content cut, including the story. Destiny 1 DLC was partially on the disc (people glitched into it) and Destiny 2 was using things shown in early D1 trailers like the European Dead Zone. When I stopped following, (shortly before they "vaulted" content) they were still repurposing old stuff.

And a related question what content never made it?

Again, early trailers and GDC presentations talked about "the swamps of old chicargo", as well as planets and moons that, at the time, you never got to visit. There was also gambling and sparrow racing. Sadly, those original videos seem to be missing from YouTube, or just buried.

Just buried. A lot of this, sadly, is just the devs getting excited and counting their chickens before they hatched; but some of it was just an offhand comment within a bunch of other comments, so it's hard to search.

To your question, I know music Marty worked on (i.e. Pre-2014) was being unvaulted by D2's launch (2017). And given the pyramid ships are coming from the early concept art, there likely was something there, too.

Old Chicago was going to be the main destination of one of the two announced expansions after Renegades. We are also never getting Torobatl with Xivu's story, Riis, and the thing that was with the Drifter on the ice planet for things I can remember off the top of my head.
