Dev reminds of myself in my deeper tism years.
A thing I always notice is he says, with a lot of pride, that his opinions and views have stayed the same for two decades, because they were good and there was no need to change; akin to that Captain America panel where he says "you move".
Now, I absolutely admire people that don't just go with the flow and stand for nothing, but I think he instead chose something more akin to a philosophical stagnation.
Nobody can ever be right about everything. To say your views never changed is to say you either never reflected on them or that they are already perfect. That is preposterous.
There is a lot of reason to think beyond the liberal paradigm of the 90's he stuck himself in, if only because it clearly got weaker for a reason.

I rated you optimistic, perhaps someone like Vee is tired enough to the point of bashing him. But from the sounds of Archcast in general, they don't seem to care. At least from what I found in this thread. It would be fun if they dunked him and cut ties for real, however.

Arch's comment section certainly seems to have a specific opinion about dev. Amazing how united the top comments are.

  • Dev is seriously just trying to piss people off. I don't want to watch ArchCast to get pissed off on a Saturday after a long week of actually working.
  • Dev being present means i'm not watching, sorry not sorry.
  • Instead of complaining about dev, whilst giving money to arch for doing something you do not like, i.e., having dev on. Perhaps arch deserves the stick, and only the stick.
  • It's always the same thing now, they talk about something interesting for 5 minutes then Dev drags everyone down for 20 minutes trying to get to the point. He talks a ton and says nothing. I miss Kibs.
  • I love the part where Dev admits that he believes what he wants to hear when someone 'admits' to him how the guy is representative of 'Arch's chat'. Then he immediately states how refreshing it is to hear someone be honest about their position, which is peak irony considering Dev can't be honest about this own biased positions. He's a left winger who can see what the left wing does is wrong, good for him, but he is entirely emotional about the right and when someone points out his complaint isn't important, he gets even more riled up and he'll couch it, claiming he's got research on his side, when he doesn't know the first thing about, for example, how courts work.
  • Ever since Dev decided to become good friends with people of Briana's caliber his opinions are about as interesting and useful as those of an average breadtuber… and Arch is too soft on him. He's too close.
  • Dev even starts talking fast like his idol Destiny whenever he gets assmad about Trump.

  • You know, it occurs to me that Arch is the guy who brings his friend over for D&D night only for said friend to completely ruin the hobby.

I know he thinks that constantly tagging Wu somehow is going to get him out of the hot water (almost entirely of his own boiling) or make him look less involved with him, but it does the exact opposite. I genuinely don't know if he got paid by Wu or not yet. I'm leaning on not because he's a Leaf and paying him could cause Wu's (former) PACs more problems than they're likely already in but also because, even at the time, I don't think he was worth it. I think he likely does it for free. The hubris of this man is really what gets me, but of course it is pride that always comes before the fall.

Oh shit, true I fucked up. That guy was saying that me posting 2 messages, one of which was myself, between me and Dev counted as posting multiple DMs though, so he did seem legitimately mentally ill. I can't imagine why anyone else would post multiple xeets every couple minutes just to defend Dev.
