A bit off topic, but what is people's problem with Vtubers? The way even the concept of "person streaming with an animated anime avatar" sends some people into a rage baffles me. Just don't watch it.
In my experience opposition to it generally stems from one of four directions:
1. Thots. Vtubing effectively makes their market model irrelevant, especially with vtubers like Melody who essentially show up and single-handedly catapult themselves to the top of the totem pole by offering a better product than what was being offered. Nothing angers a thot like money denied, after all. When she first started to get big,
the blastback was fucking incandescent - and really fucking funny to watch.
2. People resent them for being successful. A lot of that is sour grapes bitching from people that couldn't do it that it's "something anything could do," but most of them don't realize how brutal it is to try to make something for yourself in that field - it's more than jiggle physics and good rigging, you have to have actual draw and there's a lot of vtubers who put their all into it and just don't make it. Platforms actively discriminate against them (Twitch is very firmly on the side of the thots and not its vtubers) and it's very easy to wind up with your content deprioritized or outright shitlisted on websites through no fault of your own. Similarly, a lot of conventional streamers hate them for similar reasons.
3. They're angry about the general Anime leaning of vtubing, which is fucking dumb because you can make fucking vtuber models out of anything. There's one girl who made her model an old-style 1920s-era black-and-white cartoon.
Fucking Strong Bad has Vtubed in order to
promote a game TBC made. Your model can be fucking anything. Getting angry about an art style being popular is like getting angry at water for being wet or getting angry at A&H frequenters for being fucking retarded.
4. Surprisingly, there's a shitload of people
in Vtubing that constantly send out hate. This is actively frowned upon by anyone with half a brain but it is actually why one of Dev's personal ring of Autists (DFD) hates Kirsche so much - Spooki wanted to collab with her, Kirsche refused (mostly because of proximity to Dev and friends), and they've had a personal grudge against them ever since, with DFD actively having spies in Kirsche's chat hoping to ruin her if Kirsche made it big. This is not a unique occurrence; when you have any form of entertainment with fandoms involved, you're gonna see at least
some 'Tism.
