It really depends what you mean by "left wing". Most of the time, when people say "left", they really mean some form of marx-derived socialist or communist, which is actually only a small subset of leftist thought. Marx and his fellow thinkers were all degenerates who refused to bathe and wanted to fuck children, because cleanliness was a bourgeois affectation, while the prohibition on fucking children was actually an oppressive imposition by the capitalist system. If I call myself left wing, most people would associate me with that, thanks to the persistent messaging of a privileged minority; all I want to do is promote workers rights and protect the commons, but that stance by itself is now enough to have me labelled as far right, or alt right. Add in an appreciation for basic hygiene and an opposition to noncery and I'm basically hitler.

I have never been at any extremes however I used to be more left wing but the situation changed after Trump. I have never seen such a vicsious hate for a man who was a President elected by the fucking majority and who had never showed any extreme views on any contraversial topics. To me he really was just another POTUS, nothing more and nothing less but the hate was enourmous. After that I drifted more to the right and even more so after BLM shitshow. Later on, Ukrainain war showed that there are hardly any right-wing forces who were not willing to bootlick some dictators. With Israeli war far-left-wing being an actual dead end of evolution was confirmed.

I think when I was young I was probably more left-wing, simply because for a long time you really could not find counter-arguments and a lot of media pushed leftist ideals, and they just made sense at the time.

I know particularly I once went thru an atheist phase. I've clearly reversed course on that because atheism is emotionally unsatisfying--without God there is nothing.

In most parts of the internet over the last decades, being left wing means being either for the democratic party (USA), or being pro faggot and women rights (EU), as well as being an atheist. Actually knowing marxist ideology beyond the memes or demonstrating irl is extremely rare.

Being a leftist was considered counter culture in the west since the 1990's, and only over the least decade people realized that this "counter culture" was heavily subsidized by massive corporations, and that a lot if policies attributed to the right were done just as bad on the left (like censoring video games).

I started out conservative by my own nature, even voted in our little first grade mock election (I voted for Bush, I never liked Al Gore as a sprout). Like a dumb ass I went home to my kin only to learn that we are democrats and when I asked why, no explanation, that's us. That's it and you'll get hit if you say anything else.

So I was a democrat all of a sudden and the shit I learned, fuck. It ruined me for a while.

I was nice to all low I.Q. races who's cultures use bullying, scamming white people and corrective murder to control. I now realize it was because they were backwards people I had no business as an American talking to since they didn't change when they moved here. I was open to people arguing over feelings and tantrums, personal history was FACT and don't you say otherwise! and I effectively saw no reason for kids, a family, all the brain rot of having pleasure and no responsibility.

So I ate the shit hard and got nothing from it. Then after the way they showed me to live imploded by way of a fruitless relationship I had to go online and realize: These people trained me to be offended, these people trained me to argue and expose people for unnecessary sins, sins we all fucking commit sometimes so that way they could make way for stupid selfish satanic policies that ushered in NOTHING and produced NOTHING and added NOTHING. I guess over the past 10 years I went through that change. I may echo some previous statements here.

I grew up in a deep blue state. For years, I thought of myself as liberal. I grew up seeing conservatives as the ones who get up in arms and pressure companies to censor. The likes of Jerry Falwell, Jack Thompson, and the PTC. Liberals were the ones who were about free speech and free expression. All shows I watched when I was little was multicultural, race was never a serious issue. We were told to accept everyone. I grew up watching edgy stuff on TV: South Park, Family Guy, WWF during the Attitude Era. I listened to The Howard Stern Show and the Opie & Anthony show on radio. Video games like GTA and Bully were controversial, but they were still popular. I went to school learning about the Civil Rights movement and the Holocaust, but no teacher tried to blame all white people. I went to college fortunate enough to not take any classes about intersectionality or anything like that. I was surrounded by theatre nerds, they were for gay acceptance since many were into theatre so it made sense. During the Bush years, it did not make Republicans look good. They were to pro-war party, the religious party, and the party of the rich. Democrats were not. I used to watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report because of the material at the time.

By the time Obama came around, the only concern I had was that he might be all talk and no action. When conservatives were critical to Obama, and some having Obama Derangement Syndrome (Anthony Cumia is a big example), it turned me off to them. I found the Young Turks, and they provided some legitimate criticism and considered Obama as George W. Bush's third term. "Good thing liberals would never act like that if there was a president they didn't like, we didn't need to make things up about him." How wrong was I.

I used to watch Channel Awesome and lurked around Let's Play forums at Something Awful for something new to watch. They were alternative, geeky, and fun.

For a while when "Geek Culture" was mainstream culture, there was this meme of "The Fake Geek Girl" around 2012-2013, some were offended by it. Some even asked questions like "What would happen if girls like me entered your hobby? What's the worst that could happen?"

Then came GamerGate. I know this is something people are sick and tired hearing but this was my canary in the coalmine into where we are today. I didn't follow the Zoe Quinn stuff, mostly the Anita stuff. I was in awe on how everyone on Channel Awesome, Something Awful, and even Moviebob tried to convince themselves that Anita was not the same as Jack Thompson. I saw people online lose their minds and credibility over this. All this discourse about political correctness/feminism/social justice warriors/wokeness/whatever you want to call it came bubbling to the surface. I was excited to see the Daily Show/Colbert Report, now I cringe to see their act. Even to this day I'm still wondering how it all came to be? Though I'm almost convinced it happend to divide people after Occupy Wall Street.

Then I found people looking at the last 40 years of progress and culture as something to apologize for. Giving off the vibe of, "Oh all those accomplishments didn't count." "That thing everyone liked for decades, it's actually racist and sexist because I said so." "It only counts when people I like do with with less subltly and less quality"

Then I had some real life friends lose their mind over the next couple of years. Some were upset that Trump came to my state for a rally. Other friends were celebrating the Modern Gillette commercial. And of course COVID and the riots. It was like these people were replaced by someone else crazier.

I guess I'm considered "right wing" by today's standards, even though I have the same beliefs. Now it seems Democrats are now the pro-war party, the religious party except their religion is wokeness, and the party of the rich. You think more would call them out on this, but they get a free pass. You think if people are exposed to wokeness, they would reject it entirely, but many where I am embrace it. I'm wary of Republicans because they seem toothless and ineffective for real change. I'm also wary because what would stop them from going back to thier previous ways.

In short, hypocrisy made me switch. Also, I hate how everything is now a left/right issue.

I was very far left leaning until Trump got elected, then slowly I started to resent how vicious and unprincipled most leftists were acting. I grew up around unsavory people like that and had no desire to associate with them any longer.

The last straw for me was when they started cheering for institutions that were blocking people’s ability to do online transactions; especially ones backed by organizations like the ADL and SPLC. It was, at that point, that I realized these people had neither the morals nor common decency they spent years pretending to have.

This is coming from someone who hated Trump in 2016, but never saw his supporters as a “problem” per se. The embracing of castrating children and the BLM riots were just the final nails in the coffin.
