Digimon

It’s interesting you mention Appmon because I’ve been seeing a huge surge in popularity and appreciation for it on social media. Appmon pretty much reached it’s “we’re sorry we were mean to you” phase in the fandom. Unfortunately some of the fans are tearing down Ghost Game to praise Appmon but that’s predictable.

Tamers and Frontier were also violently rejected by the fanbase when they were first airing for being different from Adventures but now they are beloved and considered part of the “golden age” of Digimon. I also find it sad that grown adults in the western Digimon fanbase are crying about how Ghost Game is too scary and not appropriate for kids but the Japanese children the show is actually aimed at can watch it with no problems.

I think people are appreciating the manga more. Just like Xwars the manga was significantly better received. As for GG, it's not really scary but does have some interning body horror and last weak it did include necrophillia

And speaking of GG, the plot synopsis for the next 3 episodes appeared, and it looks like they're finally introducing the main plot as well as the Digital World Arc[

Yeah you’re right on some of the body horror and I can understand people getting uncomfortable by it. I'm mostly talking about western adults acting like Karens going “this shouldn’t be in a kids show” but in Japan this doesn’t seem to be a big deal. You’d think the fandom would be aware of the fact that Japanese shows aimed at kids can get away with stuff that won’t be accepted in the West after years of dealing with how much English dubs tone down and remove content to be acceptable to air outside of Japan.

Doesn't GeGeGe no Kitarō (also by Toei) tackle worse themes anyway? That's a popular kids' show.

Western anime fans are so insufferable.
I actually did the gamut of watching GeGeGe no Kitarō. Ghost Game pretty much followed its format in dealing with the yōkai of the day. Only with virtual pets (that were partially based on yōkai anyway).

It never got an English dub, and it also tackles themes that are critically relevant today and may have served as a forewarning, like how "influencing" has gotten out of control these days. Needless to say, they could be considered sibling series.

Ghost Game attracted an extremely rabid, unhinged hatedom that makes the Digimon fandom even more insufferable than usual. Grown ass adults throwing spastic shit fits over how much they hate it. Hell there are people even defending the 2020 reboot of Adventure to trash GG.
With the "Climate Change" episode involving Gigasmon, I would have imagined them to drool all over it.

In other news, the new episode just dropped and it actually moved the plot forward a bit. Only for the next one to be another droning episodic plot.

Oh look more dog and angel Digimon. Not like there hasn't been a dozen of those already.

Also, Christ, Dorumon again!

Yes I get it. X-evolution had a lot of feels. Stop spamming this character (and Alphamon) in everything. Give it a rest and let some other rookie form have some time to shine.

The original Digimon Adventure was a commentary about how digital technology had begun to reshape the world. It was a way of introducing digital technology to children at a young age. An alien world filled of monstrous "digital" creatures was analogous to an impending future of technology. All those ideas were refined by Konaka through Tamers. I specifically recall that first battle that happens in the opening moments of the show, where Culumon is running away. Following that battle, the episode immediately cuts to a card game at a playground. Looking back, it was painting a picture about how modern technology has reduced the impact of violence to mere childish recreation. That was Ruki's original philosophy as well: the pain, suffering, and death of these Digital Monsters wasn't real to her because it had all been turned into an abstract. It's like Konaka was trying to show how modern technology was destroying the parts of us that make us human.

Those themes were also prevalent in Konaka's Serial Experiments Lain.

Tamers was and still very much is a relevant show today. Konaka basically predicted twenty years what kinds of effects that social media modern technology would have on today's culture and society.

Speaking of shows still relevant, the 02 thing were Oikawa (a 30 yo man) using the internet to go after Ken (depressed because his brother died) and Grooming him is creepier rewatching as an adult. He also tries to do it to other children with their own insecurities. But a grown ass man going after a child's insecurities is now promoted by the elites. Digimon tried to warn us

Holy shit.

Oikawa was still tragic, though, but those implications, man.

Technology largely represents our capacity to harness and manipulate nature itself, much like taming a wild beast. That's why I like the idea of "Tamers" as Takato and his friends are essentially reining in this brave new world. This is another reason why Digital Monsters work well analogously to modern technology. The point being that even Even though humans have achieved much through technology, there still exists a primal nature that can be harmful. Modern technology has become both a means to life and a threat to life. Technology can be used for great things, but it also creates monster. Those monsters must be tamed or killed. That's what Digimon Tamers is all about.

Takato's taming and becoming friends with Guilmon is essentially his journey into the greater responsibilities of adulthood.

Anyone have a suggestion on which Digimon game is best for PC? I got recommended Digimon Masters Online, but, uh... yeah.

It looks like Cyber Sleuth and Survive are the big ones; any suggestions?

CS is a typical JRPG ala persona (for casuals) and Survive is a digital novel with a bit of game play for anime fans. Next 0rder just came out and it's more like an old school Digimon game: you get dropped into a world and you raise 2 Digimon and their evolutions are based on their stats and training. They die after a while only to repeat the process. You'll die a lot. Not for casuals

I haven't been able to find much more dirt on Marc but I did find this. This absolute retard was flipping shit on someone for calling him out for being a bully. Considering as we have seen, this tough guy looks like a fucking down syndrome South Park nerd, it's pretty fucking hilarious how tough he tries to be.

They are also the same hypocrite tards who will then go on to spam lewd pictures of vtubers everywhere.

They really should be BTFO every time they open their mouth to virtue signal like that.

I don’t even bother with listening to big name Digimon fans anymore because they’re one massive circlejerk with the same opinions and parrot each other on social media.

I also find Digimon youtubers in general to be obnoxious. I used to like thedigiknow until he turned into a whiny bitch with a victim complex because a few Ghost Game fans on youtube said mean things about his reviews in the comments section. Now a lot of his recent tweets about GG come off as seething about the show and inventing imaginary die hard fans of the season to get mad about. The dude makes good videos but he needs a thicker skin. Speaking of die hard fans I’ve seen a lot more instances of people being nasty about GG and acting hostile towards its fans than actual die hard fans themselves.

Based Digimon is another Digituber and he loves to shove annoying memes and reaction gifs/pics in his videos.
