It’s interesting you mention Appmon because I’ve been seeing a huge surge in popularity and appreciation for it on social media. Appmon pretty much reached it’s “we’re sorry we were mean to you” phase in the fandom. Unfortunately some of the fans are tearing down Ghost Game to praise Appmon but that’s predictable.
Tamers and Frontier were also violently rejected by the fanbase when they were first airing for being different from Adventures but now they are beloved and considered part of the “golden age” of Digimon. I also find it sad that grown adults in the western Digimon fanbase are crying about how Ghost Game is too scary and not appropriate for kids but the Japanese children the show is actually aimed at can watch it with no problems.
