Digimon

I forgot who they were but there was this one Brazilian fan that Marc absolutely despises and banned them from the Digimon subreddit because they criticized Tri. He also threatened to ban them from every Digimon community he runs.

Also does anyone know about Marc’s orbiters? I know there’s the other WtW admin named Vamde who seems a bit like a female version of him and a cosplayer named Airdramon who is also a mod on the Digimon subreddit. She defends him a lot, I was on another discord server where people were shit talking about Marc and she immediately started defending him.
Onkei is one of Marc's tranny translators and he was the one that started the cancel campaign against Konoka for the cancel culture play. He's defended most of Marc's stupid banning sprees as well as supported banning anyone that tried defending Tamers.

Didn't know Onkei is a tranny. His translation of Kakudou's novels was like manna from heaven for Adventure fans.

The Tumblr Digimon community is such a fucking mess.

So, remind me again why we shouldn't start a thread just for Marc and his followers. I think we should. I've never heard most of this stuff and I'm curious what other shit he has pulled. Seems thread worthy, who knows what others will add.

Most of the stuff is hard to archive since his forum is a mess ad there aren't enough people in the Digimon fandom, really. And while he's definitely a sperg he seems to be making some money off of it, like working to help remaster the Digimon Adventure dub on DVD and getting things translated. He maybe a loser but he's positioned himself to be the main loser.

Is it safe to say that we won't get a subbed Tamers bluray after the subbed Adventure bluray comes out? Is that tard that against Tamers after Konaka slammed cancel culture? I was really hoping we would finally get one as we only ever had the dub.

Depending how the series do they said we might get the other seasons, but as a whole I don't trust Mark's team since he's always been of the camp that there was little changed in terms of characterization (02 was probably the worst offender, and Frontier the least) but I wouldn't be surprised if they added that disclaimer

But won't Toei put their foot down and tell them to stop fucking around with the political bullshit? Then again...They didn't punish Funimation in their attack on Vic and that dub reel they made with pedophilia and homophobia in it. Also male on male rape. Someone said that Toei was not okay with it but it doesn't seem anything was done...And we all know how anal they are and how they attack fans for having fair use videos...So why not slam Funi's actors hard for that stunt, and why not slam Marc if he tries to put in that disclaimer?

Wait, onkei's a tranny?

I thought onkei was always a she even since the WtW/JKaizer/DATS Savers era, but tbh I've never followed any of those community people on social medias so maybe it happened a long time ago. Or at least they do a better job of hiding it than others.

Maybe I was mistaken. I read that he had a tranny on his team a while a back and people have called Onkei a tranny so I always assumed. Might have to see which is the tranny
And for a real Digimon lolcow there's this guy who has commissioned several art pieces of Koushiro/Izzy getting NTRd. It's pretty funny

Toei doesn't have the same pull with Digimon like they do with Dragon Ball and One Piece. Digimon's more up Bandai Namco's alley.

That's genius. Joe/Mimi was more popular in Japan than Izzy/Mimi tbf.

Bamco forced the inclusion of Ryo into season 2 and 3 of the anime because they wanted to sell more Wonderswans. If Bandai says they want to introduce a new VP then the Anime has to pretty much do it. Though it's funny since in the first 4 seasons they pretty much just told the anime staff to do whatever as long as they included certain things (armor and jogress for S2, Cards for S3, and the spirits for S4), which is probably why the anime is still fondly remembered.

"Far right."

Growing up is far right? I suppose I can see why they'd hate it.

I still fondly remember watching Digimon Adventure in dubbed form on Fox Kids back in 2000 and it's one of the few animes that really stuck with me for it's cast and the drama in the second half of it, been actually rewatching that, 02 and Tamers in subbed form for the differences.

I've never got any exposure to the games/toyline side of the IP and mainly only have seen some of the anime's for it, but might get the likes of Cyber Sleuth somewhere for cheap later down the line.

Other than that I usually try to stay away from the fandom, especially on the likes of Tumblr since it's either a rabid cult of 30-something NEET's who have the actual gal to sabotage celebration events of character ships they don't like or sub-purists blissfully ignore any good points the dub has and take any opportunity to shit over it, have flat-out wrong interpretations of lines and actions throughout 02 and write off any criticism/being called out as 'harassment'. It's like a massive cesspool of insanity that'll make you hate the Digimon community with a passion and seeing the antics of that Marc fucker is just depressing.

Was it really? From what I looked up Izzy/Mimi seems to be dominating all over Japanese sites unless it's the Asian fandom as a whole and Joe/Mimi is more popular around JP circles, and didn't Tri. go with that weird small subplot early on where he'd blush around/the mention of her that got dropped quickly too?

Tri for whatever reason decided they wanted to fan the flames of shipping from the word "go" (it was showcased in the first PV) when everyone and their dog fucking knew it was extremely pointless to do because Mimi marries Michael*, not any of the OG DigiDestined. I don't know what they were thinking in deciding "Oh Izzy's crushing hard on Mimi now after all this time". That's why the ship got more popular, but pre-Tri, Joe/Mimi was the bigger ship among Japanese fans.

Mind you, Tri made a lot of dumb decisions, but that one's baffled me the most especially since it doesn't go anywhere at all. Mimi doesn't even give him a follow-up or rejection or nothing. But I mean, they dropped a lot of stuff, so what's one more.

EDIT: *It's a popular fan-theory, though I swear there was a kid clone in the epilogue had kinda looked like him. Mimi's son is ambiguous enough, I suppose, but she clearly did not marry Izzy or Joe, and the only other character who liked her was Michael, and she likes America a lot to have dual-citizenship it looks like. So it's generally assumed by the fans the two married even though Michael doesn't show up in the epilogue because only the main cast matters.

Mimi (and everyone else not named Yamato, Sora, Ken, or Miyako) married a nameless faceless person.
Best part of Tri was reading the interviews and many of the staff admitting that they did things just to be shocking without a reason, they ran out of budget half way through, few of the staff that wrote it had watched the show, Kenji Wanatabe was forced to design a new Omegamon variant (and he was tired of that design already), they didnt have any staff that worked on any of the previous animes, and the fifth movie barely made a 3rd of the first
It's funny that they left the movie wide open for a sequel yet Kizuna didn't follow through any of the plot points left behind and rape!Gennai hasn't been caught.

I knew after the third movie came out and I looked at the staff list more closely that the series was fucked, but no one believed me. Probably because no one wants to remember Stitch! exists or wanted to admit that Meiko felt like a Mary Sue self-insert.

It's probably no surprise Toei let their subsidiary studio do the work instead. Everything about it was such a disaster.

I always felt that whatever they were going to attach post adventure era was intrinsically pointless, and based on a lot of the crap missing from the supplementary material, they could have simply gotten lazy.

Think the only thing Tri did that was worth it in the end was, outside of boosting the fanbase up and all the amazing fan theories that came out of it, they showed animated that yes, the Digimon Sovereign were the original DigiDestineds' partners. This was confirmed in the novels, but the novels until relatively recently were unknown outside of Japan. Also Project Mouthwash was doing the abridged series just to drop it due to Toei bullshit, which sucks 'cause it was real funny and I prefer it over what's supposed to be canon.

The worst part about Tri was they put in a lot of interesting ideas (honestly impressive given the majority of staff were not familiar with Digimon), they just never realized them because "Fuck you, give us money."

Eh, too me none of the ideas Tri did were good or original. the Sovereigns thing was already covered in the novels so that wasn't theirs and nothing came of it. The plot was overall very much all over the place and I still have a hard time remembering who was trying to kill Meicoomon and who was trying to save her and was just Hurricane Touchdown but longer and with more filler.

Taichis refusals to fight made absolutely no sense since they had no choice in the manner and trying to show off a broken cellphone to make him think of his actions made it come off as funny more than anything (even Kizuna made fun of this idea in the opening battle where he decides that some collateral is acceptable as opposed to everything getting destroyed). Them refusing to kill the cat was mute when they killed Imperialdramon without hesitation and celebrated.

I was very suspicious of Tri since they hired Keitaro Motonaga, who directed the atrocious School Days anime and knew it would be a mess before the first preview aired. Like my favorite fan theory was that Meicoomon was actually Natchan (a Digimon that Daisuke and Mimi met in a drama CD) but that would have required more than a surface level understanding of the franchise. Not hiring any of the original staff was a highly stupid move especially since in 2014 they released a 15th anniversary drama CD with Kakudo directing, Seki producing (who returned for Kizuna), and a previous writer (Kizuna was also written by an Adventure writer who didn't work on 02, who is also the main writer for the upcoming movie). Honestly Meiko was the least of that series' problems

Oh for sure, it was a mess and it legit pissed me off Kari was okay with Gatomon losing her memories because of her abusive, sad past, but that was what made Gatomon a strong character to begin with and you'd think she'd be savvy to that.

However, characters like Meiko, Meicoomon, Daigo and Maki (can't be arsed to look their nanes up atm) stand out to me as being huge missed opportunities or complete wastes of space. Meiko honestly gives me self-insert vibes given how she doesn't feel like she actually belongs in Digimon, and the forced maybe-romance with Tai was just stupid. I think she's a problem with the story itself and a few rewrites to her character and role were sorely needed.
