Here's an idea: Stop working with the original eight and make original seasons.

They tried that with Ghost Game. Not sure how successful the show was. My gripe about it was they abandoned the serialized format and went monster-of-the-week. That and they got to a point where they ran out of ideas and pushed a really bizarre ending that lacked sufficient payoff for the mystery box they set up early on in the show. People invested an entire year into watching Ghost Game had to suck a huge fat one when the show finally ended. I suspect people who insisted they were satisfied are huffing copium.

Only worthwhile characters were Kiyo and Jellymon, although the former kinda stays in this timid chunnibiyo phase for the entire show. Jellymon is really the only character who has anything resembling an arc, but she's also fun because she's apt to be the cause of a lot of mischief in a lot of episodes even so far as she tries to rectify things.

yeah, it would have been easier to make Jellymons mega a other waifumon but her design stands out. Shame Angoramon and Jellymon become useless after their debut episode, as I found Hiro and Gammamon to be boring the longer the series went on.

I mean that those two did good for one episode and then got bodied every other episode afterwards. In every other season no Frontier they at least joined against the final boss

I agree. I remember back in the day, WtW wasn't always up their own ass, but more recently, I've had enough interactions with some of them to realize they're about as uptight as your average Reddit moderators, and then some.

One time, I posted a small clip from the show as a reference, with no editions, no markers; just a small clip of the original Japanese with English subtitles. They removed it because they told me I was advertising myself. I told them that was impossible since YT already has a system in place that recognizes where the content comes from and tags it as such. All credit will inevitably go to Toei for the clip, and YT will make it definitively clear where the clip comes from and who it belongs to. But nope, they insisted it was "my" clip even though it wholly and utterly belongs to Toei.

I was also made aware that WtW also moderates the r/Digimon subreddit. Not sure what strings they had to pull to achieve that, but there it is. It's a pretty mediocre place where people really just celebrate their ongoing consumerism (i.e., "Look, I purchased this thing from eBay! Yeah! Memberberries!!")

It's typical sunshine and lollypops, where nobody is allowed to be even the slightest bit critical of the franchise, its characters, etc. I'm not sure what pretzels they're twisting themselves in over the Adventure 02 movie right now.

TL;DR Some fans just make their own message boards, gain a following, and then start to believe the franchise belongs to them and therefore they get to dictate what can or cannot be said about it.

The partners digivolve to just taxi the characters from point A to B or remove one-off obstacles.

I'm familiar with Corey, he makes some good stuff. I'm glad he's being critical; the modern franchise needs more of that. I reached out to him around the time Ghost Game was ending, and made a review of my own featuring some of what his complaints were. I'll probably doing a video on the 02 movie just because he did. I think TheAverageGatsby is also working on a 02 movie review in the future.

Didn't know there was a Digimon thread here with WtW being focused on. Late, but here's some two cents I have on things that got brought up somewhere in this 23-page thread:

-About the other orbiters that were brought up: Onkei is a true and honest woman, not a tranny. The tranny is Airdramon, who's been out as a nonbinary troon for a while. Vande is indeed the other ironfisted mod; a Britfag and also fat af. WtW's podcast is cohosted by Marc with Wikimon admin Devkyu and A.R. Pulver, a dude who was once also very huge on defending tri./Adventure.
-When /r/digimon went private during that blackout a few months back, wasn't Marc's decision. It was entirely on Airdramon.
-The top 10 polls, how funny. Back in early 2021 Digimon Web had a poll about your favorite Mega Digimon, and the Spanish fandom collectively stuffed the ballot resulting in Minervamon and her X-Antibody form topping the chart. On the forums when this got brought up Vande shut it down, because apparently this ballot stuffing is "hurting the fandom".

Also notable, Marc actually has connections to ANN, albeit not huge ones. He works for Discotek and that puts him in association with Sevakis and fellow fatty Toole, but was also friends with Zac and Hope and shared his condolences when the former passed away. He follows Nick (Dupree if I need to clarify) and has retweeted him a few times, but Nick isn't following him back.

There is a Digimon fandom name who has an even bigger association with the ANN clique though, Jeff Ruberg/jeffinitelyjeff. Hosts/hosted a Digimon podcast named Podigious whose guests have included the aforementioned Nick, Christopher Farris, Rose Bridges, and Vrai Kaiser of AniFem. Mutuals with multiple ANN clique people including those and the infamous miserable sod Caitlin. He's defended ANN on shit like their Happy Science ad (or perhaps more accurately, Zac's shitty "LOL YOU GUYS LIKE LIZ AND THE BLUE BIRD SO WHY ARE YOU CRITICIZING US FOR THIS" deflection and doubledown) and the controversial Love Me for Who I Am review, but he's also a ex-Viz employee who does huge industry bootlicking with the same tired anti-piracy narratives and patronization towards fans in other regions who dare complain about legal animu apps not being available in their region.

His ballot stuffing is also literally the reason Minervamon X-Antibody even exists in the first place, lmao. Since she won a vote Bandai made where the winning Digimon would have an X-Antibody form made, and he pushed for her. It's one time he could call a win.

The whole #DecodeRevival thing was as worthless as almost all fan petitions are, but I did like the amount of ReDigitize fanart being made because of it. Still my favorite Digimon game

I listened to one episode of the podcast where they were talking about changes made between the sub and the dub. One of them made the claim that Taichi and Hikari's last name, Yagami, was changed in the English dub because, in reverse, it says "I am a gay."

I was unable to find any evidence supporting this claim.

Only other thing I remember is someone overreacting to the part in the 1999 movie where Mr. Yagami comes home, buzzed from the bar, and tells his wife he's going to give his children goodnight kisses. As if it was creepy for a father to want to dote on his own children.

From everything else you've said, it is exactly as I felt: they don't consider themselves part of a larger fanbase, they think they are the fanbase.

This is probably too powerlevelly but highly unlikely anyone on WtW reads or cares about this thread so how about the weirdest experience I had with WtW's moderation, on their Discord. I posted a Gematsu article about -next 0rder-, it's immediately removed by a mod with no notification. Being a quiet deletion, I only found out who deleted it and why when shortly afterwards someone else posted the same article and also got deleted. Vande posted the message "Don't post clickbait sites", so basically she was the one who deleted my post and the other person's and it was because she thinks Gematsu is a clickbait site. Another mod told her it isn't and is a reliable site, but she didn't respond to that. I honestly was mostly just baffled that she didn't notify me about deleting my post but did with the other reposter later.
