The film is trying to sell the meta idea that it would capture the hearts of young boys in the 90's since it was Andy's fave movie.

Imagine if this thing fucking flops :story:
Wait, I don't get it. Is this a film within a film or is it a in-universe "true story" that is later had a cartoon and action figures made about it?

Zerg is slughtly-alternate timeline older Buzz Lightyear.
Of fucking course, what else could anyone expect?

They’re always making the black woman the lesbian. I’ve seen this in Peacemaker and other recent shows and it must be nerve-racking for black Americans. My family just stopped watching Peacemaker after the first episode. They were even commentating on how this scene was there and it got banned in 14 countries, and they were like “Disney needs to stop doing this”. They’re trying too hard. They reacted the same way with Bridgerton.

It seems like the Middle East and other places have already given up showing anything Disney-related to just edit the undesirable scenes out. It used to be just censoring out the unacceptable parts like in Rise of Skywalker, but now with Doctor Strange 2 and Lightyear, they just are not showing the movie.
They're probably doing their people a service, saving them both time and money.

Ever since I saw the trailer for Lightyear, I can't help but keep thinking about the Buzz Lightyear cartoon and how it had an ACTUAL diverse cast.

Also we had Patrick Warburton instead of Chris Faggins.
I don't remember which thread it was, but the gist of it that with modern (non)sensibilities, not only is the concept of allegory is dead but the risk of being seen wrongly as an allegory for wrongthink means that everything needs to be as literal and plain as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if shit like the billion articles of "how Watto in Star Wars is antisemetic" is one of the reasons.

So no more cool aliens since they might be seen as racist, we can only have humans (which are comprised 90% from niggers), only humans are allowed to be evil and there will always be a non defined "human supermacy" that makes no sense.

I hate how the writers said that star command is a "fictional version of events in this movie" no fuck them star command is the true version

So Andy exists in a retro scifi universe rather than a suburban american 90s setting where all of this crazy space invader shit happened and it was adapted into a movie and Andy actually got to meet the real Buzz while giving his toy Buzz a bigger existential crisis...

I preferred it when Buzz was just an in-universe Buck Rogers-esque cartoon the toys watched on VHS. Was more compelling to boot.

Mark my words these disney creative geniuses are probably setting up a Pixar crossover film or series that ties the scifi element of Lightyear to the Incredibles and will take that one mime villain's cameo in Ratatouille as 100% serious proof of a cinematic universe, maybe even featuring a fight in Paris too where Dash saves the rat and meanwhile in America Subzero is saving Andy. It sounds like cringe fanfiction so they're likely going to do it.

It's amazing how the concept of a sequel/prequel retroactively ruining the original went from being a joke into being pretty much the norm of every continuation. They just made the original Toy Story (or really any "mundane" Pixar film) from a story that every child can imagine himself in it, to being in a universe completely removed from ours.

It's like wondering whatever happened to the enchantress who turned the Prince into a Beast. Every modern story is just needless embellishment because it's made for woke adults instead of kids who only want a fun fairy tale.

Everyone's bitching about the gay kiss and malding at Christians voicing their opinion over a movie (which likely won't be remembered for too much later on down the road) are forgetting one thing: Fucking another dude in the ass is a literal death sentence in the Middle East, but CHRSITIAN CONSERVATIVES are the supposed problem.

Well, it's not going to be released there, so who cares? They're never going to see it.

There's nothing stopping anyone from still enjoying the original. If your hangups are that huge that's on you and not the people making shitty tie-ins or whatever. This thing is dumb and confusing but it's not stopping me from still liking the original Toy Story.

There were articles and Twitter threads about how the Angry Birds movie was seriously pushing an anti immigration message. Fucking Angry Birds is insidious conservative propaganda. This was before it became cool to make videos overanalyzing kids media for political messages. Of course they're afraid, reviewers are going to nitpick this stuff to death for anything possibly offensive and claim they're using critical thinking.

Ideally yes, but it's like someone telling you some terrible fact about an actor that you loved his role. Every time I'll see the film I'll be reminded that Andy will probably go on board a space shuttle because humans polutted the world too much.
