Does anyone else watch the channels run by current or ex disney employees who're seriously infatuated with the parks and like to discuss the inner workings of shit like the tunnels under "World"? Chubby old white dudes whose enthusiasm for the teacup ride borders on 'curious mania'?
The vids are often quite fascinating and these guys seem to be so genuine in their love of the stuff but I get a Daveykins Foxfire vibe off of 'em regardless.
I'll watch the hell outta that stuff.

Any specific channels? Sounds like a lot of fun

I watched Lilo and Stitch for the first time today, and man. What happened to that? Like, letting creative people just do their thing? Imagine if they were that hands-off today, instead we have very talented artists just recreate Lion King shot for shot with CGI.
I fear for the first images of that live action remake.

I recently returned from a trip to Disney World, AMA
How was the food? I've heard many negative things about the quality of food service at WDW, especially if you aren't able to get into the big restaurants by reserving months ahead.

Any Florida man sightings?
Not really, but I can honestly say that the average guest's behavior has gotten worse.
Did you stay at some of their hotels? How are they?
Yes, Pop Century. Stayed there many times before, although they recently redid the rooms which made it even better.

The food isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The only in-park meal I had this time around was a platter of chicken nuggets, fried shrimp, and fried fish I shared with my brother in the Magic Kingdom which was surprisingly good considering the bad rap the park-run restaurants get. All the other meals were either at 3rd-party operations (Planet Hollywood) or off-property.

It's good to see that seems to be getting better since the biggest grievance with the food quality is that it's expensive as all hell for a subpar product.

One last autistic question: did you browse the Farms while you were there? The one time I went I spent a lot of time reading threads on here since there's nothing else to do while standing in line.

You bet your ass I did! I browsed on the bus more than I did in the parks themselves since the reception there (especially in the line for the Avatar ride) caused my phone's battery power to drain even if I wasn't using it, plus I wanted to save power so I could take photos.

I decided to make this post here given it covers two Disney IPs. After watching the latest trailer for the live action Lion King and hearing James Earl Jones' voice, I was wondering why didn't Disney do the same modification for Darth Vader's appearances in Rogue One and the Rebels show to hide how much JEJ has aged?

Compare the two Lion King trailers with these Darth Vader clips from the two Star Wars properties I mentioned.

Was Disney too cheap to spend more money on making this change to his voice? Even Vader sounds like how he was in the OT for Episode III (despite the "Noooo!" meme) and I'm sure his voice did not sound the same between 1983 and 2005.

Well Vader's voice is already modified what with the echos and tuning to make it sound mechanical, making it easier to hide the age of JEJ's voice. While Mufasa was just a straight recording booth sound, maybe a bit of remixing, but nowhere near the freedom to play with different audio tricks as with Vader. That might be why.

Song of the South I'm iffy about since they never released it on home video anyway, but the Dumbo thing is just fucking dumb.

Remember when Warner Bros. released all those Looney Tunes shorts and they had a disclaimer saying that the cartoons contain images we find racist today? That's all you need. At the very least, give an option to remove the scene if you really want it gone from your next viewing, but don't play historical revisionism like that.

iirc SotS was released on home media in the UK and Japan?

But yeah I recall Disney DVDs with old WWII stuff like Der Fuerer's Face with an unskippable disclaimer by Leonard Maltin

Yes, it is!

I wish Disney understood that. Apparently not.

Yes they did, those countries should be glad to have gotten it, I know it was released in a few non-English countries too. The BBC used to had it be a Christmas movie as well very year.

I was glad those even came out at all when they did.

That's just...strange.
Not really, these countries aren't as ruined as us.
