It will be interesting to compare the two at least.I don't have to tell you all to skip this and wait for the Del Toro version to drop.
Honestly, after what we got in the 90's, it's an improvementPinocchio himself looks cartoony (almost uncanny valley levels with the painted eyes)
I'mma have to respectfully disagree bud. The 1996 version, despite (or maybe even because of) how creepy it was, had a strange charm to it. A soul, if you will.Honestly, after what we got in the 90's, it's an improvement

You know how much it costs to find ones that talk? Why couldn't they just rent an actual cat and fish?
I'm not even against it being played by a black actress. They're mythical creatures that are present in a lot of global folklore, including African. But the original Disney version was supposed to be set in the Mediterranean I believe, so they shouldn't retcon it now.![]()
Disney’s Live-Action 'The Little Mermaid' Star Halle Bailey Responds To Race-Swap Criticisms: “The Reassurance That Little Girls Just Like Me Should Be Princesses Was Something I Needed As A Kid”
The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey believes that her casting as Ariel in the upcoming Disney remake is a huge win for black representation.boundingintocomics.com
We wuz mermaids n shiet. I hope this movie bombs so studios will get the message that minorities don't want white people's hand-me-downs, but I'm scared it won't since Disney's fanbase is filled with retards who'll eat anything Disney shits out no matter how bad it is.
I love The Corpse Bride the most of his animated stuff. I don't think it was Disney though. The Nightmare Before Christmas kicks ass, and Sally is underrated.
Also, am I the only one who prefers Tim Burton's animated works over his live action works?
I never realized they made that much honestly. That said, the profit margins would be higher if they just rereleased the original movies into theaters since that would cost almost nothing. Disney should at least do limited runs of the original a few months later. Even if it cost a few ticket sales, they'd just be transferred to the re-run plus you'd have more ticket sales from people who would never see the new one and hardcore Disney fans who'd see both. How much Disney Live-Action remakes make
I think they do fathom-type one-off showings here and there?I never realized they made that much honestly. Then again I'm the kind of person who appreciates seeing classic movies back in cinemas so new people can appreciate them as originally released.

I loved this movie as a child. It's a billion times better than the new Disney trash.Honestly, after what we got in the 90's, it's an improvement

Naw, IDK how to draw. I just Googled hammerhead shark mermaid. That would be hilarious if the actress actually did that though. I guess she doesn't have to, bc Disney is creating one for her for free.

Out of curiosity, were shark-fin mermaids ever a thing prior to One Piece?
EDIT: Oh wait a second, did you draw that for visual reference for how you think she should look? If so, my bad, I thought you were posting like a commission art of the actress (because I wouldn't put it past someone to have portraits made of them as mythical creatures, and I still have that "mermaiding" article on the mind). It's a cute drawing, just have to say.
These live action remakes are made for dickheads who think they are either too good, or feel too embarrassed to watch the originals (even though they have no issues watching Disney's latest CGI films and pre-teen lesbian cartoons). They want the feeling of nostalgia, but in a new, cool way!Disney should at least do limited runs of the original a few months later. They are more so made for adults who believe they are too old for animation yet probably still hold nostalgia for Disney properties. People like my mom who couldn’t give a shit about animation past watching it with the kids, but did enjoy Beauty and The Beast all those years ago. These live action remakes are made for dickheads who think they are either too good, or feel too embarrassed to watch the originals (even though they have no issues watching Disney's latest CGI films and pre-teen lesbian cartoons). 'I'm like, totally an animation nerd! I have the special collection box set of Rick and Morty, right next to Family Guy, lol! What, no I haven't watched the original Pinocchio in years, that's like, for kids! Besides, Lindsay Ellis said that the original is kinda problematic'...
That's a problem a lot of the shorts back then had as well. Think about how many of them are just basically animals and/or inanimate objects in a field/room just frolicking and dancing with no plot whatsoever. I think they entirely weren't sure what to do to fill the runtime and just fell back on what they knew best with the worst kind of Silly Symphony tier antics.I just rewatched this recently, and it’s very, very 20’s. The animation is smooth, and I can see why it would wow audiences back then, but it’s also very meandering and parts really drag on, just to show off the animation it feels like.
And thus the mainstream entertainment industry is in a state of flux. See what happens when you listen to pretentious ex-Channel Awesome cancer?'I'm like, totally an animation nerd! To be fair, a lot of the apparent bad blood towards 2D came as a result of the amount of cash-grabs that were made in 2D. Remember, there were a lot of 2D movies made on the heels of the Disney Renaissance, and most of them were shit on a shingle (The Iron Giant was an exception, and even that drew an audience of crickets at the box office no thaks to WB screwing up its release). There's a reason people gravitated to the CGI stuff: not only was it new, but Pixar's stuff was tailor made to be well written enough to hold up long after the medium was well-established, and even non-Disney CG films like Shrek and Ice Age were seen as better than the 2D stuff of years prior. They are more so made for adults who believe they are too old for animation yet probably still hold nostalgia for Disney properties. In reality, for as much as general audiences love their cape shit, space wizards, or any other children’s franchise, animation is still seen as too kiddy to watch theatrically. It is how we will get people who will watch every god damn MCU film, yet Spider-Verse is not worth seeing and looks like a bad kids film to them. What makes rereleasing the originals worse is the already present stigma against 2D film animation as older folks gave up on 2D come Toy Story and Shrek as Disney’s 2000s output was shit to them and all the adult animation was CGI.
All of that is irrelevantThese live action remakes are made for dickheads who think they are either too good, or feel too embarrassed to watch the originals (even though they have no issues watching Disney's latest CGI films and pre-teen lesbian cartoons). https://youtube.com/watch?v=yoaT3lKcXgQ:46Look at this scene. Because of the amazing work of the Jim Henson Creature Shop, you feel like Pinoke's actually there, interacting with Martin Landau's Geppetto.

Now ask yourself. Do you get the same feeling from 2022 CGI Pinoke?
Don't forget Disney themselves pumping out all those cheap direct to video sequels and prequels themselves. Nobody asked or wanted sequels to movies with "...And they lived happily ever after," as the ending. Nobody wondered how Cinderella liked living in the castle, or what happened to Mulan after she hooked up with the general, or what Bambi did after his mom died. But parents didn't care, because it was cheap entertainment to shut their kids up for a while, and in the case if controversial sad movies, so they could share their childhood favorite without actually to show the movie and maybe upset their kids.To be fair, a lot of the apparent bad blood towards 2D came as a result of the amount of cash-grabs that were made in 2D.
