What can I say, cooming for married character sounds wrong to me. Especially if it's a mother figure I watched when I was young, which is 99% the chance with the writers of the film. And in the second film itself, you have self insert gender blob trying to fuck a married woman, which is disturbing enough in a kids film, though I guess is inline with Disney adult love of cuckold porn.
I have a feeling you're still young.

Who's the self-insert? The film was written and directed by a heterosexual white guy in his 60s who identifies as a political centrist and was accused of being a Randian objectivist in the first movie.

I was going to make some bitchy joke about "lol how _YOUNG_ could they have been" but I completely forgot Incredibles 2 was only 2018 and the first was fourteen years previous

Reddit reaching a new level of pathetic damage control for Disney I haven’t seen before.

Imagine trying to undermine the fact that the director had done the 2021 Candyman movie that people apparently liked and that it actually turned a profit against all odds.

Clearly a black woman's efforts doesn't count unless she directs a corporate-mandated "strong wahmens" movie and makes a billion dollars from it.

According to Kevin Feige Scorcese criticizing the MCU has racist undertones because they made Black Panther and that makes the MCU socially valuable, never mind Scorcese's interest in restoring and preserving African films. Obviously Black Panther is more important.

Black Panther has a higher Rotten Tomatoes score than any Scorcese movie therefore his movies suck. If you @ me you're a racist CHUD.

Not to look like a Xitter Community Notes checker but I couldn't find an article about Feige implying Scorcese was racist. The closest I could get was Chadwick Deadman arguing that Marty doesn't get the perspective of the black audience.

And part of me hates goofing on the dead. I feel bad for Boseman as died young from Colon Cancer, the timing of this article makes it easy to assume that Boseman was really sick during that interview. Frankly the guy didn't come off as an asshole, he doesn't even call Scorcese racist just that he lacks perspective which is still wrong. But what's funny is that his defense of Marvel falls apart. "We never had a superhero like this before." So Boseman is actually agreeing with Scorcese who merely stated the obvious that Marvel movies are not cinema.

forget trans/tomboy erasure, where tf are the articles about Wesley Snipes Blade erasure?!
yeah, it's one thing to ignore Spawn or Meteor Man since they weren't Marvel, but the complete expunging of the existence of THREE movies about Blade so they could act like they just invented black guys in capeshit was pretty impressive

Specially when it was the only comic book based movies that didn't generate copious amounts of second hand embarrassment in it's heyday.

I think I was remembering him saying "We made Black Panther, come on" in response to Scorcese's criticism of the MCU being movie versions of theme park rides. Not directly calling him racist, but the angle is there, which is tame for a virtue signaling company like Disney.

r/MarvelStudios is on extreme copium. But, The Marvels having a male dominated audience, despite being a feminist girl power film, is nothing new. Superhero movies have always been a male thing outside of exceptions like Wonder Woman (2017) (because she's Wonder Woman), and Aquaman (because women find Jason Momoa hot). The first film was roughly 60/40 in the male/female split. For comparison, Wonder Woman was around 56% and Aquaman was 52% female. And then you have other films that are way more women-centric, like Barbie, Beauty and the Beast, the Hunger Games, Frozen, etc.

I now wonder how well the first Captain Marvel film would've done if it was released this year and not sandwiched between two Avengers films that made over 2B.
