god fucking damn you, Iger.
Wait what? They’ve had all that happen, and they’re still trying to pump out this movie?"So, we had an arson attack on the set the first week of filming, two casting controversies surrounding this remake, and even our die-hard fans are begging us not to do this......LET'S CONTINUE DOING IT ANYWAY!"
Wait what? They’ve had all that happen, and they’re still trying to pump out this movie?
The two casting controversies were concerning Nani and David. Nani's actress is "too light-skinned" to be Hawaiian, so "colorism", and David's actor got caught using the gamer word a couple of years ago (based).![]()

You got a sweetheart deal that gave you a special separate fiefdom. If anything, losing that fiefdom is far more "fair" to all corporations in Florida.“This is an important case with serious implications for the rule of law, and it will not end here,” a Disney spokesperson said. “If left unchallenged, this would set a dangerous precedent and give license to states to weaponize their official powers to punish the expression of political viewpoints they disagree with. We are determined to press forward with our case.”
Too many terminally online people taking everything they see in media literally and calling it "bad writing" led to decisions like this being made.. Like you said, portrayals are not endorsements. We are at a point where actual screenwriters are taking social media into account and f****** up their movies because of it.
A person creating a character with "problematic" traits doesn't mean that it's an endorsement of those things, more often than not they're supposed to go out of them by the end of the film or show.
Mess up because Netflix is omitting a lot of Sokoa's sexism despite the fact that it was a vital part of his character growth.
All of this goes back to Disney because it feels like they forgot and how to write a flawed character who eventually evolves over the course of the film.
Every female character they make now is automatically in the right no matter how flawed their logic is, it seems like the world just bends to their whim.
Pretty much this.Too many terminally online people taking everything they see in media literally and calling it "bad writing" led to decisions like this being made.. Like you said, portrayals are not endorsements.
Imagine if Disney did this back in WWII when it came to "shilling" war bonds.
They are most likely obligated to work on this garbage because of contracts. At this point Disney has to know that this movie will be another disaster but it's not that they can just quit the production (or can they?). They will crap it onto the market & barely do any advertising. Because it's not worth it.View attachment 5698486
