For comparison, here are the two of the worst-rated anime on MAL.
It's absolutely incredible how much Disney has bungled this, it's almost intentional.

Disney is caving to say that Zegler is the main reason their movie flopped as though the movie itself would've been good without her. Like the movie still had IDF Soldier Gal Gadot who also happens to be one of the worst modern actors of our time, terrible casting all around, overcomplicating a very simple story, and the most disgusting CG known to man. Like a Snow White movie doesn't need to near $300 million to make.
Dune Part Two is much cheaper and had more special effects and bigger stars in it.
Its just funny whenever Disney slop fails, they just blame any actor/actress in their film before taking any accountability. If Lilo and Stitch makes like 500-600 million on a $150 million budget (I assume marketing makes it higher since they are marketing the hell out of this movie), I wonder who they'll blame since it doesn't have nearly a contentious marketing campaign.

They will blame everyone but themselves. All of the live-action remakes are pointless, but Snow White and L&S feel.....extra pointless. Like, these two movies have zero reason to be remade. One literally changed the face of a medium, and the other was the most fondly remembered and universally beloved of its era. That is a legacy most other films, animated or otherwise, would kill for.

Some people were unhappy because Tiana spends most of the movie as a frog and not a black girl.
I mean, to save on CGI budget they could do the live action where the kiss just fails and she gets involved in the quest to find a way to reverse Naveen's curse as a human. She could still just get random ass "talk to animals" magic powers to help in the endeavor as she stomps around in the bayou. Maybe the curse on her could only slowly be taking effect, so you have her mostly human with froggy flashes throughout, so she can still wind up a frog for awhile, but be a human for more of it.
I mean, she still needs his theoretical money, so it's worth the hassle, but it would probably lose some of the punch from the original.

I think at best the only one that could've maybe been remade was Jungle Book only because the original was very mid but like...even then this is a fad that really exists to make money off of Disney adults that want to feel mature and take their kids to see it.I thought black people loved Tiana -

The only reason this is getting more heat compared to their other slop is because of the added attention from online grifters making fun of it and hatewatchers. There is nothing this slop does better or worse than other live action slop Disney shits out, because it's all slop. All of it is there to get eyes glued to the screen, log watch time, and increase profit. There is no artistic incentive or point other than to generate income for Disney. All of them should be tanking as hard and facing as much backlash as Snow White. But somehow, this one is the straw that breaks the camel's back? Now consoomer zombies are making a stink about it?
While Disney themselves is to blame first and foremost, perhaps they would be correct in blaming Zegler for the movie's failure. I'm sure the trailer with the DEI dwarves made a bad first impression for a lot of niggercattle, but so did other bad trailers like the Sonic movie, and after they changed it, legions of cattle went to see it and it became a huge success. The only other big criticism getting rehashed by online grifters was having a hispanic chick play Snow White. Once they switched to ugly CGI dwarves, at that point it became just another Disney live action slop remake with no extra hilarity and the only thing about it that could be mocked was Zegler. The only thing this shows me is that once again, consoomer niggercattle will accept slop as long as it is subtle about whatever agenda it wants to push (casting a diversity hire to play a super white princess isn't "subtle") or it caters to whatever ideology is currently favored by chairbound niggercattle

Disney should've shelved this when one of their actors said "Free Palestine" while her costar is a literal IDF soldier.
But really Disney has been doing this shit for 10 years now and its the same shit as every other live action remake where they do this shit where the marketing shits on the source material or acts like it is a massive improvement with Disney encouraging that type of behavior to show off how hip they are with the times.
This same strategy is not going to work and again casting a hispanic actress who isn't too dark skinned is really pandering. I get representation but again you could've made a new film about a Mexican princess, I'm sure there's source material for that, but Bob Iger's Disney is not creative, and run by morons.

I think the crazy thing is that I have been following theater for years and Rachel more or less used to do nothing but record YouTube videos similar to Ariana grande and both of them basically came up around the same.
It's sort of crazy that out of nowhere she's suddenly gotten opportunity, after opportunity, after opportunity seemingly out of nowhere.

She's barely got in a career and already she's burned tons of bridges and made herself even more unlikeable than Brie Larson

Honestly I still think despite it all, the live action Mulan is worse than this.
Like Snow White, it had political controversy, this time Mulan's actress openly was supporting the actions of China beating up Hong Kong Protestors while the end credits thanked an area of China pretty close to their brutal internment camps towards the Ugyhur population.
But the film itself is really bad and takes away from the source material. It tries to be accurate to the mythological Mulan to be different and take on the traditional wuxia style but the film has no understanding of Chinese culture despite the entire film being a big pandering love letter to China. Hell it accidentally incorporates other cultures like Egyptian and FBI culture for some reason.
There's also how Mulan is undermined in this film compared to the original. In the original movie, she was a strong heroine who used her wits to get ahead while still being strong, brave and vulnerable. This film basically makes her a fucking superhero who has magical powers she must repress until she becomes super powerful upon showing that she doesn't need to be a man. She has no real struggles at all and is basically a walking goddess.
It also takes away all the humor from the side cast while also trying to pander to nostalgia by having them randomly say some of the lyrics from the original songs. Every character is as stale as wood with really soulless action that feels utterly pointless. So there's no reason to really care for anybody especially with Mulan being so OP it takes away any of the tension. Hell even the Emperor is pretty powerful.
The original animated film ironically is a much more grounded movie than this live action slop.
Its a shit film trying to pander to a culture that no one in the production understands, tries so hard to make Mulan a super girl boss when she already was that and did it great in the original, and controversies that are on par with Gal Gadot being a wooden soldier who may have killed some kids.

She still managed to defeat the bad guy herself and make the prince equivalent look like a moron, though. OFC it wasn't as bad as current year movies, as she was likeable.
