Seems like a bit too little too late. You already chased off that audience by fucking up what they love while screaming “ITS NOT FOR YOU”. Might take a Hail Mary to win a lot of it back.
They need to pray the rosary in this case, they've burned a lot of goodwill from the older audience that has the money to buy their stuff. Also, people who retort that "it's not for you" bullshit are obviously those who don't like any kind of criticism because "that's being bad."

"Struggling to produce any film project" for years should be a obvious red flag that your brand is already dirt at this point and no amount of ST or OT toys and merch would be enough to save it.

They need to be willing to get rid of the DEI rot in the company before they can even begin to entertain looking for new projects to get new audience members watching Disney again. And they need to quit it with the 'modern audience' shit too, those people only exist online to complain about them not doing enough activism.

The thing is they are targeting young men... the same demographic that not just Disney but ALL of media has been bashing for like a decade plus saying shit like how they are all evil rapists and "toxic masculinity" and all that crap.

You want to bring back young men, bring back things young men like... badass heroes with baddass stories with a side of tits sprinkled here and there.

im not a very sexual person but even I miss when female heroes were prettier and didn't all wear the same full body jumpsuit like Black Widow or Catwoman. Which aesthetically gets rather boring after awhile.

Disney are fucktards! They acquired all these male-oriented brands, raped them into oblivion and tried to brute force them into being girl brands (which didn't work) all while actively attacking and driving away men, and are now surprised they have in fact tuned out? Give me a break. They brought this on themselves so now they can lay in it.

Imagine literally owning Star Wars, Marvel, and Indiana fucking Jones, and bleeding out your male audience.

Takes a special kind of stupid to fuck up that almost foolproof combination of success.

Saying it was about turning them into girl brands doesn't quite describe it, as they turned them into brands for no one. As with all this progressive brain rot, it involves focusing down on stereotypes whether they are true or not. So how they went about demasculising the films, ended up just making shit to appeal to no one. Then in how they tried to push the femine stuff, lead to them avoiding things that actually appeal to women. As they were bad stereotypes.

As a woman myself, I would like to tell these people that I am not narcissistic enough to demand that I "see myself" in media. lol.

Just give me a good movie with good characters.

Wreck-It-Ralph 2, one of the most obnoxious and awful movies I have ever seen, really showcased how little Disney understands their female audience as well. That whole "Vanelope meets the Disney Princesses" scene was so hyped ... Only for Vanelope to shit on the Princesses and to have them wear lounge clothes while expressing how much more comfortable they are compared to dresses.

Disney has shat on their "boy brands" by emasculating the male characters to uplift the hollow and boring female characters, and Disney has also shat on their "girl brands" by denouncing stuff like femininity and romance.

One of my favorite Disney movies in the past 20 years is Enchanted. The movie is roughly 18 years old, and there is no way that current Disney would be able to make it. Elements of that movie were satirical, yes, but the protagonist was still plenty feminine, girly, bubbly, etc. and it was depicted in a positive way. If Enchanted were made today, Giselle would end up with no man, and she'd be a stoic warrior or something with zero personality. The movie would suck ass.

Remember the Oscars now have guidelines for representation to be eligible for Best Picture? I'm sure there's some unofficial ideological frame work going on in Hollywood imposing lots of bad choices. The character has to be an avatar with social responsibilities for the audience. So they need to push them to be flawed and human. Encourage certain groups, not encourage others.

The same way they removed smoking, they're alterting the traits of characters they can have on screen.

Princesses impose unrealistic beauty standards. Have to bring them down a notch and be relatable. Can't show being rich and pretty makes you happy.

Male action stars reinforce the patriarchy. Got to dress them down, show that it is bad to be like them. They're now old, bitter and miserable.

Theories that films being less diverse reinforces white supremacy.

There are lobby groups that assign ratings to studioes and networks to shame them for not having enough gays. I remember reading up about that a while ago. They were aiming to get 15% of characters being gay. Currently it was 10%. Which is higher than the proportion of the population. I'm sure there's got to be similar groups doing the same for racial and ethnic groups.

It's all inorganic. Doesn't feel real because we often don't want films to be real. I really hope they don't fuck up James Bond, although signs are looking good at the moment.

Are you aware they did a sequel in 2022? Meant to be awful. Of course it's about her moving to the suburbs and not being content. So becomes the villan or something.

You may not want to watch the trailer in case it tranishes your love for the original.

The title itself "Disenchanted" almost sounds like a satire as well, but they 100% seriously meant it, like a badfic come to life. They're open about their disdain for everything positive that happened under the watch of the pre-Iger eras. Either they cannot find people anymore who actually likes the source materials and want to do things with them, or they're actually allergic to fans and that's part of the vetting process.

Disney's gonna be lucky to make it past the 2030s at this rate.

The ONLY reason to stay at a Disney hotel by Disneyland is going away:

One of the Disneyland hotels’ biggest perks, early entry into the parks, is going away.

Guests who stayed at a Disneyland hotel had the option of receiving early entry into a park, either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, each morning. That early entry allowed guests to board select rides or shop and eat at certain locations 30 minutes before the parks opened to all other guests. (It was previously an hour, but when the park reopened after the pandemic, it was cut to 30 minutes.) The perk applied to all guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel, the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and the Pixar Place Hotel.

How long until Orlando follows?

It has to be intentional; imagine the amount of effort you would need to put in to find someone who doesn't like Lilo and Stitch to the point where they can't just grin and bear it for the paycheck and feels they must change large parts of the film.

I mean, we all knew there would be tantrums from the usual subjects about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs being too problematic, but no one saw Lilo and Stitch coming. They had to be actively searching for people who wanted to screw with it.

An entire generation of potential viewers has abandoned Western animation in favor of AI generated shorts and such but of course Braly, the guy behind Amphibia, one of a dozen interchangeable female empowerment goo goo babies therapy cartoons whose primary audience seems to be neurotic women (and whose actions sequences were mostly poorly done mimicry of anime fight scenes) is sarcastically poking at the fact that there’s a lack of good cartoons for male audiences from Gen Z on down. It’s really easy to post stuff like that when the industry you work in only makes stuff for neurotic millennial white women, and like Braly you're a one-trick pony who would probably be caused physical pain if asked to write something that WASN'T about the angst of a resentful diaspora-dwelling brown girl complaining about their family and upbringing, like that very unpleasant "sentai" comic he wrote recently.

What would a kid, make or female, even get out of cartoons today? More millennial therapy sessions? Another realistic panic attack? The handful of anime references (Akira bike slide/Sailor Moon/etc.) they're too young to understand? The action cartoon is pretty much done. These people make girlboss stuff that only appeals to a very narrow demographic, and ends up excluding boys and girls. No wonder the kids just watch streamers all day instead.

In the face of all that, it is bizarre how much people in the entertainment industry get disgusted at the idea of not wanting to alienate boys or young men anymore, that maybe they'd want to start making material that appeals to a demographic they've in many cases deliberately pushed away, you’d think with all that's been going they’d figure out that’s not working too well but I guess not.

I think that Gen Z is lost from Disney's grasp and there's no fixing it. Disney's bread and butter is nostalgia, and Gen Z basically has no nostalgia for Disney at this point. They are on the same trajectory with Gen Alpha, too ... In order to create a new generation of Disney fans, they need a new Renaissance or something, and I just don't see that happening.

Disney lost Gen Z to anime and manga. Point blank period. Gen Alpha will be lost to video games.

And @Screamer_2 , I did actually watch Disenchanted, and it was crap. lol. It came across like a crappy direct-to-video Disney sequel from the 2000's, and I'm stunned that Amy Adams agreed to do it.

Hollywood, including Disney but not as much, has been doing this since the 1980ies. Just with the past fifteen-twenty years they dropped all pretenses to the contrary of they're doing. While being completely oblivious to the fact their audiences, targeted or not, have been noticing they're keep being serve shit.

Until a decade ago you didn't really have any other options for entertainment besides Hollywood so you had to accept the slop. Now I can watch videos about whatever niche interest I have whenever I want that are made by a dude in his spare room for a fraction of what Hollywood productions spend on catering for a day of shooting. Zoomers and Alphas have streamers and TikTok. I can't wait to see the first big studio go into Chapter 7 so I can laugh a them on X.

Only if you're a tech illiterate normie who can't use the internet. Or don't or won't play video games. As other options were there online since the mid 1990ies. Or just do offline stuff outside of the house.
