The Bluey Movie comes out in 2027, but Bluey's Happy Snaps comes out this year and that's probably going to start rebuilding the hype (it's literally a game where you tour the World of Bluey and spot all the things from the episodes).
And it's only on Switch 2, wonder how much it's going to cost?, to be honest, this is the most we are getting out of Bluey this year, Everything else that they release is stuff that has been out for years.

It's also available for the original Switch and for Steam and a few other consoles that don't matter

Did they really? What happened with that?
Disney was one of the movie studios that fought against people being able to do anything but rent movies and when that failed they introduced the Disney Vault where they'd only release a movie for a year or two before not making any copies for a few years.

Huh, didn't think they would still put out stuff for Xbox one and PS4.
That's been the story for this entire console generation - I think its partly just how long the dev cycle is on literally everything for no real reason, partly this console generation was such a flop that they have to keep releasing last gen versions to reach the break even point.

It might also be the fact that a game like Blueys happy snaps doesn't take advantage of the extra power of the latest generation, and the development tools they use make it a simple matter to back port to the previous generation.

possibly. Wonder if any kids would actually play this new Bluey game over something like Roblox or Fortnite?

Happy Snaps is quite clearly a love letter to the show and not much else. I suspect that if you haven't watched the entire series and liked it you won't get as much out of the game. it might have a bit of an educational slant like teaching about the flora and fauna of Australia but it's hard to tell from the trailer.

Oh THATS why that was a thing back then?

I remember seeing commercials for those and thought it was weird. Why would you keep a movie "locked up" forever? Now I know.

A sense of urgency and missing out is a powerful marketing tool. Telling people they have a deadline to get the movie tells them to go get it now, don't wait! Who knows when it will be back!?

The same idea gets implemented a lot in games now. At least with the Disney vault you were guaranteed to get the movie you wanted instead of pulling for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and ending up with Pocahontas.

I mean I think the mario movie was slop but feeling personally attacked on behalf of all of disney is weird, walt disney isnt gonna be resurrected and suck your cock or anything for defending big corpo on twitter
I'll try not to spiral into a sperghard paragraph spheal like I usually do, but Disney and even Nickelodeon wished they could have simps like these back in the 2000s when shit like Doug's 1st Movie and Hey Arnold! The Movie shat the bed.

I like Disney the same way I like Nintendo: I sure love Mario, but fuck Nintendo for doing shit like demanding video game players and fan clubs and fan organizations to tell them what games they're hosting at events and even getting asshurt over Palworld supposedly taking away the thunder Pokemon has (or used to have, and for fuck's sake it's gone on for 30 some years, make some space).

"acthually didney has billions in coffers" I haven't seen dickriding hardline fanboyism this hard since the 2000s when the more shitfilled pockets of diehard US comic fandom were huffing copium after two consecutive comic book market crashes in the 1990s. History does rhyme, especially with a company that now owns one of the comic book companies associated with that past debacle.

Speaking of creatively bankrupt Disney related absurdity:

According to Bloomberg, the new project is one of several games currently in development, with the extraction shooter expected to launch in November. According to Bloomberg's sources, it will be a "shooting game along the lines of Embark Studios' hit Arc Raiders, but with Disney characters battling enemies until they can reach an extraction point."

Too little too late Disney! My wish to be a Tommy-gun-toting mouse has already been granted.
