Now Google is celebrating "Asian Pacific American Heritage Month"... more "identity politics"? Also why lumping all of there together?
 
If you do a Google image search for stars in the HIP catalog*, you may get images of exercise stuff related to the hips, unless you put that whole name in quotes to clarify.

* (like HIP 12345: a class F or white subgiant star over 420 light years away)

Everytime someone starts me on how much I hate Google, I hear the buckles on the straightjacket chiming.

I've noticed on Brave desktop and newpipe/pipepipe that it's lagging on YouTube videos. I think it's trying to force an ad but everything I have breaks the ad. So instead of auto playing shorts, or auto playing after selection in newpipe, it like load-loads-loads and then you have to hit play.

it did the job og finding a picture of a child's genital. it didn't know the context of the picture which was for a legit and legal medical purpose but i'm not sure it'll ever figure out the context unless you let it read your hospital app.

Google search and gmail are shit now. gmail won't find the right search inquiries even if you use quotation marks.

You are correct with the approximate timeline. I would say after 2016 and the circus of Charlottesville is when the enshittification began. Initially it was the start of the big tech censorship engine, for years leading up to 2016 the Internet was heavily consolidated but still had the laissez faire attitude on content.
I believe that post 2016 big tech realized it functionally had a monopoly on their respective niches on the Internet. They realized they could get lazy and offer subpar quality without consequence. Take this for example where they just directly sabotaged their main product.

In short 4 things have caused enshittification
1. Monopoly of numerous critical niches
2. The censorship engine
3. The Jeet menace turning every they touch into shit. If an executive or CEO is established the gates are opened to an unrelenting flood.
4. The leftist fanaticism that the upper echelons of Google is often rife with.

I hope Google gets their spine broken by antitrust but I'm pessimistic due to the impotent and limp wristed nature the US has in combatting hostile businesses.

Just found out that YT writes a crapload of data of who-knows-what to one's drive, if one has a tab with YT open in a Firefox browser.

Both asians and pacific islanders have been complaining for a few years about being lumped together on everything from census forms and college applications to voter rolls and "Stop Asian Hate" campaigns. They claim they are no more related to each other than europeans are to arabs.

It started last week (or the week before). Fortunately an updated version of uBlock Origin Lite (Manifest v.3 compliant) seems to take care of it.
