Do you like listening to music that's in a language you don't speak?

I sure do, I've enjoyed songs in German, Arabic, Korean, Japanese, and Persian. I usually look up the lyrics at some point. In the case of Arabic songs, I can sometimes understand some small portions of the lyrics without looking them up.

This is not modern-day Japanese; but a (very speculatively reconstructed) prehistoric language of Japan called Jomon. Synthist Himekami (Yoshiaki Hoshi) was fascinated by this language in his last years and used it in many of his songs.

Sigur Rós is an Icelandic band that uses lyrics in a made up language that doesn't actually mean anything.

Their songs are generally very slow in tempo and I suppose post-rock, as much as I don't really like that term.

I love stuff like that! Susumu Hirasawa had a similar method for the opening of the recent Berserk OVAs, even though I don't think he came up with new words as much as used gibberish that sounded good:

I have no idea what language this is (maybe Swedish?) or what this song is about, but I sure as hell love listening to it:

Savina Yannatou is an amazing Greek vocalist who sings in at least a dozen languages. This song, "Dunie-au" is from Kazakhstan.

I had a phase of listening to foreign music, indeed. Especially with a strong beat.

I like listening to music in other languages a lot. I don't get too caught up in trying to figure out what it means, and sometimes, the languages themselves sound really nice. Especially songs in Chinese or French. I don't know why, the way they sound is soothing to me. I dabble in a little kpop too.

If you want recommended music, I really like the Tempters and the Golden Cups. They're rock bands from the late 60's, so it's going to sound a little dated, but I like it. They do English covers too, of course, which are also pretty decent, but their original songs are in Japanese.

A small snippet from a video for Legend of Emerald (The Tempters).

Stupeflip is one of my favorites despite not being the most fluent in French.

I've got one by Daniel Koren on my playlist (it's Hebrew).

I have a few Japanese songs in my playlist as well...

I also have this Chinese song by the Chopstick Brothers:

AND I'm a fan of Lenich and Kirya, who are Russian:

I just remembered that I occasionally listen to the Polish music station when I'm driving.
