Doom Patrol

I just saw the Pilot and hot damn was it good . Even Mr.Nobody is in it ! It feels like a mix of the Gerard way and grant Morrison Doom patrol . It’s amazing

I just think it is absolute horse shit that you have to subscribe to the dc channel. No one wants to watch any of the garbage shows. This is the only thing anyone wants to see. You know what makes any of that moot?

Pirating the fuck out of the one series.

Well we are nearing the end of the show! And I must say this was a good run , honestly really good , not enough to make me spend 10 bucks for it but still really good tv , well written , great actors , has not only the feel and heart of doom patrol but it respects its source material enough to not take itself seriously , even Cyborg who i wasn’t too hyped about when I first heard he was going to be in the cast he really needed up feeling like he should’ve always had been part of the group .

You forgot Young Justice. Season 3 so far is really good.

I watched all of Titans, there is an entire episode that is pretty much just a trailer for Doom Patrol and it is legitimately the best part of the season. It only has Robot Man, Elastic Girl, and Negative Man, and I think a different actor (at least very different appearance) playing Chief. Despite half the cast being in full body suits, they had way better charisma and acting than the Titans cast.

The term for episodes of a series that set up a spinoff or other new series is “Backdoor Pilot”.

Yeah I went to my usual place to watch the last episode of Harley Quinn season 2 and saw that recent searches included Doom Patrol s02e01 I really wasn't expecting it to be back so soon I really loved the first season so I hope this one can hold up.

EDIT: Just watched the episode and I liked it.

Oh Hell, yes. It's one of the best shows out there. And it's not merely hilarious, it's genuinely touching and even unsettling at the same time.

But please I beg you, avoid spoilers and clips. Just watch it like I did knowing almost nothing about it and enjoy the ride.

Then let us know what you thought.

If there's an easy free way to check it out I probably will. But I've already been burned once by caring about a streaming only DC show...

It's very self contained, even Cyborg who is a much more established character gets a light origin(and he's much better than the movie counterpart, but that's more of a condemnation of the DC Movie's Cyborg). It's weird and surreal, but in a way I very much enjoyed. It's amazing how a cast that has two characters completely covered in costume, and one half covered, are able to emote so much better than their Titan's counterparts. It doesn't what I feel like is a good job of inclusion(usually). One of the characters is gay, and his homosexuality is very much a part of his character and arc, rather than being a substitute for a personality.

If you watched Legion, it's very similar to it in terms of weirdness, but where as Legion was weird in lieu of plot or meaning, Doom Patrol's weirdness is usually relevant to one of the characters and very enjoyable in it's premise.

Nor had I and I loved it. A rudimentary awareness of the DC universe may help as Cyborg talks about joining the Justice League and there's the occasional reference to "heroes". But basically you can go in cold and lose nothing. As Polyboros2 said, it's very self-contained.

Swamp Thing, by any chance? You could always get DC universe for a one month subscription and just binge the whole of Season 1 in high quality. It's honestly worth it. Based on how in accord you and I are over in the Harley Quinn thread, I'll venture to say you'll love it as much as I do. Also, in regards to being burned Season 1 is very rewarding as an arc in and of itself. Even if there had been no Season 2 it would still have been enormously satisfying.

I'm 100% serious about the spoilers, though. You totally don't want to know what's around this show's many corners.
