DOOM

Looking pretty cool, besides the Cyberdemon, something on the model just looks off to me. Well im gonna play it likely on december when is on sale anyway.

Been reading the Doom 3 novels (writen by the writer of the game), the are kinda weird, but not as bad as the 4 novels for the original games.
Just heard they are going to put ray tracing and DLSS in Doom. I hope that shit can be turned off or it doesn't tank performance.

Err, not buying that Revenant design either, feels like they made an original enemy (which is good), but decided it should be the revenant. Like, Im fine with the radical changes on the Mancubus and Hell Knight, but the Revenant I think its too iconic.

The design would work great for a Summoner-like foe.

So I've been playing through every single official doom release from Doom 1 to TAG2 in preparation for TDA, so far what I've learned is:
- No Rest For The Living is the best official release, followed by Plutonia. I have yet to play SIGIL 2 or LOR yet so I can't speak of the quality of those 2.
- TNT is worse than I remember, like I would be livid if I paid money for it back in the day. Genuinely the worst official release outside of Master Levels.
- Most of the official mega wads haven't really aged well.
- Today is as fitting of a day as ever to play DOOM, I suppose.

Its the hood I take issue with mostly, but given how TDA seems to be going in the Doom 3 direction in the sense of giving demons completely new designs instead of remaking classic ones I'll let it slide. The only one I don't like is the Caco, I would've settled for a HD version of the Doom 3 design.

Also supposedly Trailer 2 is supposed to drop at WrestleMania tonight.

Doom 2016 has been released on GOG.
Neat, but unless we're getting proper IDTech6 modding tools it doesn't mean much to me. There's also no multiplayer or snapmap on the GOG release which I thought were pretty fun and not worth omitting.

Yeah No Rest is great. TNT is too boring for my taste.

Legacy is .... complicated, on Hurt me Plenty I had a lot of fun, but not on Ultraviolence.

Gonna replay 2016 and Eternal the last for the replaying Im doing, since they take a longer time to finish and unlike Doom 3 I actually need to get an effort to get through the hard parts. I admire the guys willing to finish it 200 times to be pros, but Im not one of them.

TNT relies a lot on atmosphere to sell itself, and for 1996 standards where you only had Doom 2 and Master Levels to go off it was perfectly adequate. I mean, I still have nostalgia for it since it's the first megawad I played (one of the few who apparently only got Final Doom and never knew there was a first and second game until ten years after the fact). That said, I agree it aged horribly, and even more in comparison to its sister wad, which instead aged like fine wine.

Doom TDA feels like neo-Quake but throwing in the Slayer.
Playing Doom 2016 recently and seeing all of the Quake references gave me the hardest edge of my life. When will these fuckers make another single player Quake game?

Legacy of Rust is just throwing shit at you like a monkey in a zoo. The gameplay is pure bullshit, lacking the refined difficulty of Plutonia that actually has some thought to it. It's a shit expansion with the only saving grace being everything but the actual gameplay.

TDA promoted at Wrestlemania

Was not expecting cthulhu to make an appearance.

Also the BFG is now the Big Fucking Crossbow.
Its like the Heretic crossbow, BFG, and LOR's Calamity Blade rolled into one. I guess I kind of called it when I thought that the calamity blade would appear in some form after LOR's release.

Definitely going to call it the BFC instead now.

New Civvie vid, but very phoned in. His gameplay is like actually bad, not just average but like really bad.

Also, no use of the Master Levels new midis from Megasphere et al.

Really lackluster

Being honest he didnt used new midis in any other video, so cant say I expect it.

Imo, Vesperas was the best of the bunch, rest in peace, Jim Flynn and Dr Sleep.

The first two sort of maybe follow the game, the last two is just some LSD philosophy about mormons, aliens and something about coexistence.
Ngl I thought the idea of how they did souls INCREDIBLY interesting.

-You humans are lucky, you don't even have souls. You die if the aliens torture you enough. Other aliens are objectively immortal, their bodies just fail. Therefore you could trap and torture them for eternity, something humans can't go through.
-Literally makes a religion based on cowardice because people objectively believe there's no life after death
-souls can be basically fucking copied in humans

I don't believe any of that in reality, but it's interesting writing, or at least was when I read it.

Reminder that Indiana Jones required at least some level of ray tracing so I wouldn't hold out too much hope there. It's another game under Bethesda after all.
