DOOM

I wouldn't mind it. But cogitate on this, what exactly is Quake going to do gameplay wise that's new? People have already pointed this out but NuDoom is more of a Quake sequel as it is.

I myself wouldn't care, since having the NuDoom gameplay but with everything else changed I and likely everyone would be fine. If I were developing a Quake reboot though I would feel a little bit of gameplay shake up is necessary, but I wouldn't know what to do about it.

Oh, also Trent Reznor is an absolute must for the soundtrack, I will accept no substitutes, except maybe Sonic Mayhem

They've shown a handful of Cthulhu-themed monsters already, and have been teasing the concept of monsters/weapons coming from alternate dimensions. With those, and some of the monsters from Eternal that would fit right at home in Quake 2, it wouldn't surprise me if Dark Ages ends up being a formal connecting point for Doom and Quake. Aside from 3 and Champions, of course.

There is not a 0% chance that Ranger will appear in the ending of this game as a marvel-esque postcredit scene.

I like that they’ve gone for a Stand and Fight combat style for this one vs the Movement Shooter aspects of the previous two.
Eternal was great don’t get me wrong but I like the idea of playing as a Mark V tank instead of a F-22.

Nah, Doom 3 started the problem with unecessary lore, needless artifacts for the plot, implying the player was the reincarnation of the martian hero and go on.

Doesnt help the gameplay is pretty boring, I got no nostalgia for any Doom game and it feels like Doom 3 just isnt that great, specially compared with the following Prey and Wolfenstein 2009 on the same engine.

It had good shadows and sound, thats about it.

Oh my flipping Reddit, Doom guy will fight frickin' Cthulu and a frickin' narwhal with epic bacon! Maybe he could team up with [movie character that was played by Pedro Pascal] and John Wick with the help of a wholesome doggo!
The Pedro Pascal part popped me.

I’m still looking forward to the game but that does sound exactly like how a redditor would respond to the trailer.
Updoots and Reddit Gold please.

I remember seeing a copypasta on /v/ when they started getting their hate boner for Eternal and it was the funniest thing, I still can't locate it.

If you play them in chronological order it gets faster and faster. Makes me wonder where the series will go from here.

Who knows. Story wise we know the base game for TDA wont end with the slayer being trapped, at least. Its possible the DLC will cover the little hell stories told in 2016 and set up the intro to that game.

I've also heard rumors that the story of the base game and DLC might go nowhere and this could be set up for another prequel, and even thinking about having another prequel or more than 2 full size Doom games just makes the bile rise in my throat. At most I'd be fine with one more sequel but anything past that is just ridiculous. Honestly you could make that point about TDA as it is.

Doom 3 was still Doom. It was slightly more linear but retained the combat and monster closets. Arguably it got slower but that was due to learning the peculiarities of weapons and the combat rhythm.
2016 started to veer off into a weird direction but it kept the sense of a journey and your active progression through the complex and hell, kinda reminding me of HL2 but with Painkiller style arenas.
Eternal is an ADHD shooter for spergs that teleports you into each level willy nilly. I was more surprised that they did not go even more stupid with gimmick levels. Mind you, Eternal is not a bad game, but I sinisterly believe that it is a not a Doom game.
Dark Ages just looks weird so far and seems to have removed itself from Doom even more.

Doom 3 was still Doom.
It was boring, thats my big problem. I played, and replayed, and I would say it just is nowhere as good as the classics. Doom 64 is the last Doom.

3 is just a weird mid point. When I think of "Doom" I dont think of cutscenes, exposition dialogue, sentry bots, gimmic weapons. Imo, its just as distant from classic doom as 2016 is.

Unrelated, I recently saw this video, while I do admit its an impressive feat and all, I just cant see the appeal of these huge slaughter maps. Doesnt look like the author tried himself until he could finish it, unlike Plutonia, whose devs talked on how they kept playtesting until they could finish them without using the secrets.

Is there any good wad you guys reccomend that isnt a snore fest where every level got 2k enemies? I heard good things about Ancient Aliens and Icarus
