DOOM

Doom 3 tried to be a high budget, low difficulty System Shock 2,
Thought I was the only one who think that way. Yes, thats the big problem. Without nostalgia for either game, I dont got much reason to play Doom 3 when I can boot up SS2.

I do like Ressurection of Evil since they cut the long parts of the game, rather play a shorter campaign if its more interesting. Its kinda like with Quake 4, I think both it and Doom 3 got more maps than needed.

Thankfully Prey and Wolfenstein 2009 mostly fixed the problems with ID4 games

Doom RPG predicted New Vegas. This is on The third map

The dark ages gameplay seems to be:
Hold shoot button for 2 seconds
Charge with shield to finish off
Alternatively, use flail

Also, more lore, what's with Bethesda wanting to make up more lore bullshit? Doom guy was already badass by being a soldier killing demons, this feels like unnecessary fluff and cinematic slop.
The gameplay footage pre-release has always been simple and at a slow pace for the new Doom games, they want to make sure people can tell what's going on. I'm sure the game will be fast with plenty of depth when we play it.

What I find curious is the Doom 3 Rail Shooter (Doom Ressurection) from 2009. 5 years after release, I dont think the game was that relevant at the time, yes BFG Edition came in 2012, but during the gap its a weird time for a release.

Granted, I only know it exist because I was checking what stuff the guys behind the Master Levels done.

And to be honest, facing Cthulhu is basically the logic end for a series that is based on the ID staff playing DnD, like the weeb shit in Daikatana? Based on the same thing. And the new ID staff are bigger nerds than the team in 1993. The Cacodemon isnt an Astral Dreadnought for no reason

I know I asked this in the doomworld thread, but I'll ask again and be more specific this time:

Does anyone have a link or backup for this project:

Spooktober Community Mapping Project [1.0.6]

As well as that one doom wad that got the creator banned because it had a naked Laura Croft easter egg?

I found a link for soundless mound via https://marisa.pw/doom/ , but I refuse to reach out to these freaks via discord.

Edit: I found the creator of the Laura Croft easter egg: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/113775-ascension-release-v-16-by-big-memka-and-shadowman/, https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Shadowman#2006

So we're just doing Cthulhu now?

I'm not even mad. You go and kill the public domain monster multiverse, king, and I'll try and ignore the weird troon fandom you and Duke (r.i.p. the chance of a good game ever) have accumulated.

Still not buying day one, but I hope for decent reviews from real people and not the pre-release / day-one shill gallery.

That is how it was for Doom Eternal so the assumption is not without precedent. Same for 2016. While the "stand and fight" tagline doesn't exactly inspire confidence, the removal of glory kills as a pre-scripted mechanic is a potentially good sign; while they were fairly well-executed, no pun intended, they still were a disruption to the running and gunning. If the alternative system allows you to stay more mobile then that opens the door for at least smoother and more consistently paced gameplay.
