TDA has roughly a tenth of the playerbase on Steam that Doom Eternal had. I doubt Id are getting the levels of player affirmation that they were previously getting and I strongly suspect that there is substantial pressure to course correct after this showing. I imagine they'll partially pawn it off on gamepass and covid this time but they have to know that excuse is not going to save them twice..
TDA WAS the course correction. Now they will double down on bing-bing-wahoo and will get thousands of brain dead speedrunners and trannies praising them for Eternal 2, which is no doubt what they're working on now.

they will probably cope brigade using consoles as excuse regarding TDA numbahs.

I wonder if the game's industry as a whole would be better if DOOM's keycards never existed.
I personally hate seeing a (red/yellow/blue) door and knowing I'll have to back track eventually. I wish it was just sorta linear.
The cool maps that loop you back near the door you saw once you got the keycard should be the accepted standard.

Kiwi Dreams HUB lab map is aloe vera to my soul. It's beautiful.

They quite literally said they were de-emphasizing run n' gun. that is the opposite of course correction for a Doom game. They were clearly trying to overhaul the mechanics just as much as they did for Eternal.

Gaming execs are going to catch on pretty quickly that total player numbers are a complete smokescreen thanks to gamepass if they haven't already. Silksong was also on gamepass and consoles; it has ~140k reviews on steam to Doom TDA's ~18k.

Like I said, Id will probably get a pass this time around but it's not going to save their skin if another mainline Doom game underperforms this badly.

They're a necessary evil. If you have no keycards then how do you guide the player through set pieces while also not holding their hand and have them follow an NPC or yellow paint? If nothing is locked and you can just move forward then there's no challenge. If you have to kill X number of things to progress then it also gets boring because it's repetitive.

Key cards are all about good map design and apparently a lot of devs enjoy being contrarian and like to hide key cards and objective markers in esoteric spots. Shadow Warrior is a good example of that but the most egregious one is Redneck Rampage where you have no idea where the fuck to go and the the game has the single worst sewer level in history.

Got to play TDA on a friend's home. Its pretty good, through I agree with most reviews, on that some stuff could be better.

Well, Im currently studying for a major test, and if I fail, Im trying to get a job, so time for games gonna be short, so now that I got the official releases done, Im gonna try Evilternity to see if its worth the praise.

Just play everinity II at this point, its better in basically every way and a lot more obvious at first glance why people love it.
Everinity 1 is just kind of okay compared to it.

Crossposting from the AI Derrangement Syndrome and Doomworld threads, tl;dr Trannies had enough with Graf Zahl and they made their own, even more pozzed, fork of GZDoom.

The troons are aware that they are co-opting UzDoom and are a little sensitive about it on social media.

A YT video reviewer recommended VkDoom. It uses Vulkan rendering utilizing more than 1 CPU. It has great lighting effects and has great compatibility. It compiled quickly. The only thing is that it is beta-ish.

Many mods don't run with it, though. It needs to become more compatible. And while it would be lunacy to expect all kinds of modders to retroactively adapt their mods to VkDoom, that suggestion has already been made.

Q: Where did the Le No Chicken come from?
A: The Le No Ovo.

(If you don't get it, just think of the Roman Empire, like any white male is supposed to.)

We'll see how this turns out in the end, which ends up being the most popular sourceport.
the one that isn't a broken mess and the devs can keep consistent patches that don't break shit.
so, if GZDoom has a bit of knowhow to test then he can absolutely blaze the trannies because if they become "the popular" sourceport then they will do tranny shit, you know, trying to get people on their groomcord to consume pornography and dilation sessions.

Had a random urge to check out /doom/ (after not mapping for Doom or posting about it in almost 10 years) and saw they were 75% talking about some source port drama; which was also happening a decade ago with gzdoom and graf, lmao. Then I remembered KF had a games section and Doom section (shout out to Josh for mentioning the KF megawad), and I come here seeing you guys talking about the exact same stuff - at least the topics are consistent across both sites.

So how many sourceports are there now?
The ones on /doom/ are still listing the same 5 as they were listing back in the day, but I guess since there's *STILL* gzdoom drama going on I assume it's still mainly the same handful that existed back then; except now we're on the advent on tzdoom, I guess.

There's many, but some of them are forks of others.

And for this, now I 110% support Graf.

For fuck's sake, get these fucking TROONS out of my Doom.

TOTAL.
TROON.
DEATH.
If you play classic doom, you get stuck with trannies in-fighting. If you play newer games, you get Marvel capeshit slop, turret sections, Mario platforming sections and some of the most obnoxious tourist fanbase of any video game series out there. Interesting situation, the only winning move is not to play...
Just kidding, Doom 3 won
