DOOM

Wad? Do you mean all the new assets from this year from the old doom beta?
Those would need to be compiled, coded to be called for use (youd need to rewrite hud code to use other face stuff) ect.
I imagine someone will try adding them, but the assets need to be plugged in to actually show in game.
I meant like you knew of a simplify a way to transfer the WAD to the new version of the game without any extra stuff.
But like you mentioned it's been 2 days so it's probs in the works by modders. I was orginally hopping we could figure a way to make it easy without having to do work to make a few bucks so we could get extra large pizzas on friday. I won't lie I forgot about the new assets and overhaul.

I played some of the new episode last night, finished 3 levels and I'm disappointed and mildly annoyed.

Levels are.. fine. They're nothing exceptional but they are constantly trying to pull Plutonia shit on you. The 2nd level has multiple shotgunners sitting in windows in cavern walls. You're really struggling for ammo in this level and having enemies you must kill but can't collect ammo from is a dick move. Some of the levels have secret passages you need to proceed hidden better than the secrets in that level. Doom doesn't suit JRPG switch puzzles and these are done in an annoying way where you may have to take damage to undo a wrong switch or they expect you to do some non-obvious doom platforming at the end of a pool of toxic waste.

The flying skulls are too fast to be used like lost souls but that's how they use them. They move quickly and shoot quicker. You can't control space at all and they do high damage. They're made to punish Doom guy's high speed but push the balance the wrong way.

AAHH AAHHH AAAHHH AAAHHH AAHHH AAHHH AAHHH AAHHH AAHH is why Banshees were dropped and never should have returned. They're lost souls that move slower and suicide on you. Which makes them awful to deal with if you're low on ammo.

Plasma marines are mean and do a huge amount of damage but the level I met them in were not suited to them.

My biggest WTF am I playing moment comes from the first secret level. I had on the new music and the Doom Eternal main menu theme is used for level music. I don't want Eternal tied to old Doom, I don't want Eternal in old Doom. I like the song, but it doesn't belong in the original games. If it was to be used it should have been a re(de?)make is a Doom eternal level.

It's doom so it's still fun. It's free so I can't complain. Hope the new enemies don't get included in too many wads but the new textures are great. And I hope the levels don't continue to have monster closets opening right next to you where a revvie gets to fist your asshole because you picked up a small med pack.

God, I miss season 1 Barry. I know they went where the show went, but it was so much more fun.

It's like how sopranos went lower color and less fun over time. Sure, it makes a statement, but I want fun.

Like what even the fuck was the entire last season of Barry? Him getting caught was bold, but everything after that, FUCK
I didn’t watch the last season of Barry. But the first season was great.

They updated Doom on Steam, fucking it up if I'm completely honest.
It crashes on launch if you have any other classic doom installed, the mod browser is fucking terrible and also crashes if you try to play a mod.
What was the point of this, other than pure spite for the fans?

Seems to work just fine for me, including launching the other campaigns like rust, or sigil.
Maybe check steam forums, or verify installation?
I still generally use gzdoom or zandronum anyway, but it does work for me just fine via steam edition, so I think its something else.

I launched it from the new mod launcher they built into it, luckily GZ still works perfectly fine.

It's free, and runs like a dream. I have not seen a single complaint in regards to actual gameplay, only speedtroons bitching how it doesn't control exactly like the original, which is something they also did when Quake got remastered. "Game is literally unplayable, fucking shitty cash grab because I can't make this particular nade jump". Fuck off and stick to your perfected 75Hz port then, faggot.

I like the new update, it doesn't feel that much different compared to other sourceports, and the extra content is nice. I'm yet to try the new episode though.
I also noticed that the DOS version was updated as well to include all the games along with the setup executable that the previous Steam versions of Doom lacked for some reason.
The only issues I've had so far are that the game crashed when I first launched it, but it launches fine now. And that the mouse movement feels a little off to me, but I've noticed before that different sourceports in general don't really tend to be consistent with Doom's mouse movement.
But hey, this new update gives me an excuse to replay all the official classic Doom games, so there's that.

Anyone got a download of the new Andrew Hulshult IDDQD Doom 1 + 2 soundtracks?
You can extract them yourself from extras.wad with a WAD editor like SLADE, but they are on OGG format.

So now that doom 1 and 2 are compiled together, do we no longer have a problem of missing textures when loading a doom 1 wad in doom 2 or vice-versa?
