DOOM

I'm pleasantly surprised with how this runs on my PC. 4k on Ultra-Nightmare and no slowdown. Granted I'm using id's dlss equivalent but goddamn. I didn't expect this with an i7-9700k and a 3080ti rig.

I love the shield, but I don't love the parrying; I wish it was possible for everything, not just hurrdurr green thing tiem! That really infantilizes it to me.

what pisses me off about this game is that its £70 in the uk but its also $70 in the US so i'd be paying more than the US for no reason.

>93 dollars

I feel for you because that is actually outrageous, for that price and 7 dollars more I get far more content than you do.

I'm sure after sales and shit the game will come down in price, but I hope someone cracks it before that. No way any of the money I spend on this game is going to the devs its going to hire more jeets to ruin windows.

Yeah im waiting the winter sale by december to buy a ton of games at once (like Stalker 2, Space Marine 2, TDA and Robocop Rouge City)
Theres no reason to try buy it yet besides avoiding spoilers

Checking up on IMDB, looks like theres 2 white characters voiced by blacks, the Eternal VA was replaced by Jason E. Kelley, while the commander is Debra Wilson.
Didnt some dudes screeched about people from different races playing a character that doesnt match it before?

I called it. Knew it had to be her.

Although, let me say this: Debra Wilson is an amazing VA and she is actually pretty good in everything she's in, live action or Vidya (yes, even TNC). The problem is that they like to force her likeness into everything because they KNOW she doesn't look that good. Me personally, I don't Debra looks that bad in real life.

Yeah Im surprised she accepted a role where they dont use a photorealistic 3d scam of her face.

Both voices sound good, if I cared about this, I wouldnt enjoy Samurai Jack.

But its funny that if it was 2 black characters being voiced by white people, you would think Twitter would be rioting already

Does Doomguy even have proper voicelines in this or is he just grunting?

and The King not liking Doomguy because Doomguy is an unstable ball of violence..is like Ya know. Reasonable.
They do the X-Men thing here that you rescue civvies from the literal forces of hell, and the ingrates don't even thank you because they're scared of the man with the shield that saved their miserable lives.

Wow, she's truly everywhere! I suppose that explains why the she-commander is ugly, but she's not Debra-tier ugly because that would have hurt sales.

The difference is that doomguy is a slavering rage monster who has gone insane from centuries in hell.

Doomguy hasn't gone mad enough as to be unable to identify friend from foe. I guess he gives a very scary aura, which is fair... But he's being compared to horrid monsters that were about to tear you apart, make you watch while they eat your children, then devour your soul (and not necessarily in that order).

It didn't hurt the Jedi games much!
Different topic: There's such a dearth of good* (or mediocre, or hell ANY) good Star Wars games, that even good enough ones are given a pass... And yeah, the ugly black lady is as ugly as usual here.

*Not so mcuh with Outlaw, which at best is mediocre and stars yet another ugly lady and tons of bugs.

Bought Dark Ages last night and just got done playing it. It's pretty good so far. It feels like what a modern Doom game should. Even the cut scenes are pretty cool. But what I am really glad to see is how well it runs. I have everything on ultra with DLSS off using the id tech 8 TAA and it's running at a steady 60 fps. It doesn't seem to like the MSI after burner performance overlay because I had the game hang during the initial startup at least twice while using it. I couldn't even get into the game. I am using the in-game performance metrics. I am still early in the game though. I am glad to see it doesn't use RTX. If it does use RTX then id must be some kind of wizards with the implementation because so far, it's running great. I have the lighting set to ultra. RTX usually causes performance issues in many of the games I have seen it used in. This is a FPS so steady frame rate is a must. Since it's a twitchy fps and relies on fast quick movements a frame rater of 60+ is pretty much needed.

Considering the recommended system requirements I am surprised at how well it's running. It's playing great (so far) with my 3700X 16GB of RAM and 4070 Ti Super.
