DOOM

So after The Dark Ages, I wonder where will the story go at this point? Will the story continue after Dark Ages up to before Doom 2016 or will Samur / the remaining Old Ones if ever they're still alive will become the next villain instead?

Just finished Doom 2016 for the first time, it took me 12h on Ultra Violence, felt like OG Painkiller mixed with Dusk. I used BFG glitch on the spider mastermind because fuck that slog. Keeping some aesthetics from Doom 3 was a nice touch.
It was fun, would be even more with faster character movement in some areas. Also fuck pinkies, annoying cunts, single shell up the ass is all they get from me.

The only place for NuDoom to go now is even further back in time: when Doomguy was Commander Keen Jr going on wacky adventures with his twin sister, who grows up to be Crash from Quake 3.
Keen twins.webp

The sheer fucking audacity of doing this would make for peak cinema in and of itself. It'd also allow for what was a pretty entertaining concept to finally be used in something better than a cheap and shitty mobile game that never made it out of prealpha.

I feel like a throwable shield/melee weapon works best in a game where the core of the combat experience is purely melee focused and it's your only ranged option. Making a fps game where all your weapons shoot projectiles and then forcing you to constantly use what is essentially the leviathan axe from God of War just doesn't fit in my opinion. The whole game feels like a lot of it was mandated by the overlords at Microsoft. "Put a parry mechanic in it, those are popular", "People complained about Eternal being too hard, put difficulty sliders in and move Ultra Violence down in difficulty", "Hey guys people like open world games, do you think we could forcibly cram Doom into that mold?" etc.

It sounds like I would enjoy Dark Ages far more than Eternal...
But I'm not about to pay $70 to find out. Jesus Christ, fuck this gay industry.

I was entertained by the story. I don’t have the ability to play the game, and I’m not buying a new console or a PC just to do that, because I’ve found myself only playing Hitman of COD 4 on the PS4 I have. Watched one of the few YouTube channels that string together the cutscenes in a competent way, and I mean the writers wrote him as how he’s portrayed. An unstoppable murderous person hell bent on killing every demon. He comes back from literally dying ffs. The chain gun/dragon/mech sequences look boring as shit though.
Watching a Doom playthrough for the story is the most insane thing I've ever heard

I was watching this video.

The people complaining about Doom TDA's performance must be running the game on 8GB video cards. I used MSI after burner when I played and I didn't see VRAM usage go that high. It must have been about a little over 10GB. The RTX 4070 Ti Super has 16GB. But that's not that far off from 8GB. I think some of these people need to turn their settings down. When you get into settings like ultra it often just uses up more hardware resources with very little gain in visuals. Basically, you are wasting frames and performance for nothing other than to say you are running the game at all ultra settings. TDA is pretty well optimized and probably one of the best optimized games to be released lately.

Doom 2016 is nothing like Doom 3. Doom 3 was not a very good Doom game. Doom 2016 is what Doom 3 should have been.

The best songs on the soundtrack were all the songs that sounded like they were fed through an AI program trying to replicate Mick's sound.
That's because while it was good music it was just generic numetal. Anyone can do it.

here is Andrew Hulshult's music from the Doom Eternal DLC The Ancient Gods.

He does a good job of recreating that modern Doom sound while also making it sound like his own version of it.

I didn't say that it's the same, just that it respected its own predecessor, some fights were similar but that happened maybe once of twice in 3, like the game was too shy to spawn more than 5 enemies at once.
Just so you know, Doom 3 is my favorite, Mars base was comfy as fuck, I have not touched the classics, sorry grandpa.

New Zero Master, half the lenght of the original video (through skipping all cutscenes)

IMO, they should let Doom rest for the next decade, and do Quake or Heretic instead, I feel like this is basically a test for if they can do more fantasy style games.

You should, Classic Doom aged well, in part because of how simple it is, its like Super Mario Bros, it just works well for what it wants to do.

Either a prequel-sequel for TDA or they did all this introducing of the Cosmic Realm to set them up as the main baddies for the Doom 4

They already have a plot outline for them, Samur can go after the Crucible which screws him up even more.

Samur is fucking dead yo.
He's not. Vega teleports him away before the Slayer kills him at the end of the DLC. I don't think there was also anything about the transfiguration process killing maykrs, just making them insane. Which again gives an even easier set up for a future plot.

If there was anything about the lore that says transfiguration kills makyrs then it makes Samuel an even bigger dummy.
