Agree. Also important details like border textures and height changes when changing flats.In Hangar you have a lot of basic elements that evey single Doom map needs. Stuff like height variation, sector lghting, a few secrets, even alternative paths, such as the blue armor secret that can be opened from both ends of the base and leads you outside. There's also variation in the height of the ceilings, to create interesting architecture. All these little things can have a huge impact on how your map looks.
There's indeed such a thing as being too polite. Criticism can sting sometimes, but good critique is vital, and sometimes that critique must be blunt.In the end it all comes down to Troonworld's "be nice or else" policy.

Looks like some idiots are trying to give him advice, but he's getting dogpiled by mostly everyone in the thread. Another "Idea guy", probably some 10-year old, comming from Minecraft, who wants someone else to make maps for his retarded "dream wad idea", which by the way, sounds like total garbage. His "theme" is "colorless" with two episodes, one in a "Shadow Invased Earth" (Probably means "Invaded"), and the second one in a "Shadow Hell", whatever that means... probably, one color maps with no sky, and of course with slaughter gameplay... basically everything i hate in one package.
He also has an example map, and guess what? It's nothing like he describes. It is one of the worst "first map" attempts i have ever seen. The whole thing is bright as shit, because the retard doesn't know how to change the sector brightness. The enemies and items are stuck on walls. The whole map is covered with Wolfenstein textures, because nothing screams better a dark colorless shadow Hell/Earth than fucking Wolfenstein textures, right? And then the gameplay... All i'm going to say is, the whole map has 4 enemies, and in the first room he expects you to Berserk an Archvile and a Cyberdemon... to bad for him, the Cyber is stuck in a wall. Oh yeah, alsmot forgot... He calls this map "experimental". He probably thinks it's innovative.
So what do you think? Is he going to get the help he needs to make his wad idea? Or is it just one of those retards, who are too lazy to go read some tutorials and watch some videos on how to make maps, and instead want someone to work with them and spoonfeed them every little detail so they can learn to map without doing the research themselves?

I wouldn't trust this guy, he used to shit on Doomer Boards when One Humanity related drama happened and I remember him attention whoring on Troonworld (https://www.doomworld.com/profile/31531-themagicmushroomman/?status=1742480&type=status). As for Ribbiks, Sunlust is pretty decent imo. I think you won't like it because while skill is important in Sunlust, a lot of the maps still require preknowledge (and in some maps you even have to resort to using cringetarded speedrunner strats if you don't want to spend 5 minutes of your time on a single fight) to beat. If you're talking about Crumpets 2, I don't think it's worth playing it. I remember how I basically FORCED myself to like the first Crumpets, I got up to MAP07 before I gave up (I was trying to beat all the maps without saves). Now I don't want to touch it with a 10ft pole... If Crumpets 2 is anything like the original, you should avoit it at all costs because Ribbiks expects you to beat every single map with saves before trying to UV-max them, memorize where the ammo and powerups are, which fights you shoud start first and die a few times before you'll learn the best way to beat them, etc... I watched a playthrough of it and the maps seemed a bit less bullshit this time around, but the guy who beat them is a speedrunner who likes playing difficult slaughter maps, so I'm not sure if they are actually easier...In all fairness, some of the wads Troonvana is showcasing in this video, look quite nice, but that still doesn't mean they play nice. Other's are just a visual barf. Take for example, his own map he decided to showcase in the video... oh boy, it's not only ugly, but it also plays like shit. Is that the best he can do? A giant, open, flat arena, with huge distances and barely any obstacles, which results in a retarded combat scenario, where you can just circle strafe and let the monsters kill each other. There's zero strategy, and zero reasons to take risks - it's useless. The guy from his youtube comments is right, the faggot can't design a half decent encounter to save his life. As for Ribbiks, I'm yet to find a wad made by him, that i can enjoy, but to be honest, i avoid his work like a plague. Like i said before, i can't stand mappers who are obsessed with drawing pretty symmetrical shapes for the sake of automap looks. Layouts that seem natural, or smart and logical from an architectural viewpoint are 100 times more satisfying to explore. His last set of maps he posted recently seems more grounded though... maybe because it consist of speedmaps? Should i give it a try? Should i take the risk?
@CringeNigger , looks like The Magic Mushroom Man has been reading this threat, and if he is, good for him. I get the sense that he agrees with a lot of what we're saying here about noob mappers with retarded ambitions, who ruin the wad subforum with their awful postings. He's been very agressivelly going after them recently, and he deseves some respect for it, but he should be careful, before he gets targetted by the troon mob. I think he's friends with Doomkid, so he might be immune from a direct ban, but still, they will silence him eventually, one way or another.
