Doomworld - AKA Troonworld, a dedicated safe space for pedophiles and megalomaniacs - Corrupting the Doom community since 2016

The best way to ask people to play-test your maps is to release a nearly finished project because that guarantees the attention from the playerbase. Sprinkle it with some screenshots, show off the new graphics (TITLEPIC, new font, etc...) & describe the genre you aimed for (traditional, slaughter, gimmicky, jumpwad...).

With contributions to community projects, it's pretty much automatic. Participants of those same projects will grab your map & play-test it without the need to ask for it.

There is an important thing that every wad developer should consider.
When you finish your maps, ALWAYS PLAY-TEST THEM YOURSELF FIRST!! Iron out any major issues, especially soft-locks & try to fix as much as you possibly can.

After that, you can release it to the public for play-testing, so they can sniff out problems you might've missed them yourself.

That thread linked above isn't always consistent with having active play-testers, so you have to attract folks to play your stuff, rather than seek them out.

Oh, here we go, another pointless Skillsaw dick riding thread:

What's stopping this idiot to open a little thread called "Wad reviews", and spill his ass kissing there? It's a pinned thread in the wad discussion subforum for anyone to share their praises, but no, he feels the need to make a new thread and worship a 13 years old episode for no reason. Also calling Valiant and Ancient Aliens "legendary", but saying he enjoys Vanguard more, because "it's shorter and more replayable". Could it be because he doesn't actually enjoy AA and Valiant all that much after all, but feels the need to jump on the bandwagon and call them legendary, instead of admitting how he really feels about them? If they're so legendary, what does that make Vanguard then? Divine? Celestial? Fucking idiot! If something is truly legendary in your book, then it being a full 32 level map set shouldn't be an issue when it comes to replayability and enjoyment, because no one is forcing you to play the whole thing in one sitting.

Sure, but how can we apply this to Doom WADs? How can we instruct the AI to parse the WAD and derive context from its data? Or maybe the WAD must first be parsed and then have specific sections of it fed to said AI? Either way, sounds painful.
Well, Stable Difussion is specifically a way to generate images, so in the context of Doom WADs, you could pull out the images from the IWAD and use them as training data for fine-tuning of Stable Diffusion.

I remember playing Vanguard and Valiant years ago but they're not the "bestest maps evar 11oneone!!" The one megawad I do remember playing that reignited my interest in classic Doom was Whispers of Satan. It's not the best but I did had fun with it.

I had a lot of fun with that one, too. I also really enjoyed Shadows of the Nightmare Realm, although that one isn't strictly old fashioned Doom and uses some newer lighting stuff that I think you need gzDoom for.

I do remember that as well. Speaking of horror-themed Doom wads, I remember playing a horror-themed Doom 2 wad named Unloved (the first version) too. Also had a blast playing the Doom 2 version of the Midwich Elementary School from Silent Hill yesterday.

Whispers of Satan is visually imressive for using, if i remember correctly, only vanilla textures. It has one fatal flaw though, and that's Paul Corfiatis' chronic use of symetrical geometry. In some maps it get absurd - you get something like a corridor, conecting to four seperate room, that not only are exactly the same, not only have the same arangement of monsters, but you're also force to go in each one of them in order to open a path further... he just designed one room and copied it over 3 times.

I've read somewhere before about that wad's issue on areas just being copied and pasted. And yes, it only used textures from existing Doom engine games such as Heretic and I can appreciate the feel of the wad itself despite using only those textures.

Can someone more familiar with the situation explain what the case with that Las Rojas fag is? I notice he occasionally drops by Troonworld to share some sob story about how difficult his situation is, but i never had the patience to read his whole thread. From what i'm getting, his mother was sick (or so he says), and he was supposedly taking care of her and when she died, police came and arrested him... or made him a suspect of murder. Now... we all know police can make mistakes, but usually when they arrest someone it has to be based on some evidence, right? And if you're a suspect of a murder, there also must be a reason for it, like a strong suspicion based on something. So far we only have his side of the story, and everyone on Troonworld is blindly believing and supporting the fag, donating money to his useless ass. What if he actually did something, and the police screwed up the case and as a result, the court didn't have enough evidence to put him in jail? From what i understand, the case was dropped or something. Bottom line is, you don't get charges pressed against you for no reason, there's definitely something that he hides from the community he begs money from. But that's just what i think, like i said, i'm ignorant on the subject as i haven't read the series of novels he posted on Troonworld. But even if i do, i'm not the type of person who'll blindly believe someone based only on his side of the story, because i don't even know the fucking guy.

This might've been said before, however, if you're going to show us something from somewhere outside this forum then please bother to archive it. Else it'll risk being lost forever.
I've been pretty diligent in that department since I started very regularly using this site some months ago. 7 years ago I was not a regular.

Good enough. I'm just saying that you should probably archive it and edit that post to include links to the archived posts. Plus, it requires an account to view it for me.

I'm still permanently banned from ZDoom forums, and making an account currently isn't working.
Plus from what I recall, the subforum for deleted threads is admin-only.

So, a couple of days ago, I finally caught up to the latest DBP. Took me about four months to go through all of them.

Overall, I had a very positive experience. This was way more enjoyable than anything Troonworld shits out nowadays. Unique themes with mostly traditional gameplay bundled up but of course, it had terrible moments too, like some awkwardly placed enemies, dumb gimmicks I'm not a fan of, some non-intuitive progression & possibly other things I can't remember at the moment.

I think my theory still stands. Troonworld makes wads for clout & asspats from KKKlub while Doomer Boards do it out of love & passion.

Agreed, i'll be starting Lunar Strain today, and i'm sure there will be plenty to enjoy in it. As for the few lows here and there, i don't think that's possible to avoid in any community project, no matter how carefully it is managed. Get ready for DBP67, that one should be out within a few days (or maybe today), i think.

Have you guys ever come across this character on Troonworld?

bandicam 3332.jpg

I strongly suggest you check out his profile and especially his last wad update thread on the forum, because it's one of the funniest, most autistic shit you will ever see in the Doom community. It even rivals the "Little Doomlings Still Exist" thread from years ago, except this guy doesn't get the same amount of attention, because Troonworld is now dead when it comes to humor, and trolling retards like him is not allowed. Otherwise i bet it would have been just as golden as the Little Doomlings thread.
Just read the whole thing, it's a wall of text, but it is great in a "so bad-it's good" kind of way. For added bonus i also recommend downloading the wad in the thread (if you can find the link). It's only 3 short maps, and they are some of the worst, most repetitive garbage you can possibly imagine. Still, you have to check them out to get the full picture, and see what i see...

Just to give you an idea of the kind of comedy gold you'll find in this link, here's a quote or two:

bandicam 3333.jpg

bandicam 3334.jpg

In case you're confused by all the studio/different groups talk... no, this guy doesn't run a mapping group or a community project, it's just him, in all his autistic glory. And speaking of "customers" and not being able to release a map sooner, because he doesn't want to give his customers something of a "low end quality"... Just play one map of his, and be amazed at what he considers a high quality Doom map.
The "Doomwads", "Expansionwads" and ''Wadreviews" are also a bit confusing. I think the last one is when he gives feedback to maps in the wads section, Doomwads is when he releases a solo map, and Expansionwad is when he releases a wad with more than one map, which he considers to be an expansion to the original game. He also started a review thread for Hell Revealed, and it's just as retarded as everything else this guy does. Have fun.
