If it's this easy to get hired by a professional university and earn $58k a year, then why haven't we all done it? If you're a PHD holder making only 58k a year at UCLA you definitely haven't "made it", fuck, that's not even successful in california terms. It's a decent living for a single guy in most non-crazy states but not anything to write home about, and definitely not something a post doc should aspire to make.

If you told me any teaching staff at UCLA only made $58k, I'd think you were mistaken. That's such a low amount of money to be in a college city, much less a Californian college city.

I think it's because his PhD was mostly bunk, hence why he got a bunk salary. The real money probably goes to professors who've had tenure and who teach more substantial subjects for longer periods of time.

It's a modern-day Faustian bargain, promote ideologies that escalate racial hatred and social unrest, and you get your chunk of money, not to mention live in a nice home.

of course they all are, because there's nothing serious about it. i have an entire textbook on critical media theory and it's like 300 pages of contradictory and self-aggrandizing nonsense that sounds like a high schooler wrote it. critical theory was legitimately invented as a wedge to insert the agenda of zionism into as many discussions as possible before the world wars even happened and was designed from the get-go to obfuscate that fact from the people in the frankfurt school that had no stake in the matter. the fact that most ideological derivatives of critical theory are basically impossible to actually hold yourself to is kind of a canary in the coal mine for where this shit came from in the first place.

the people who speak well of adorno and horkheimer and critical theory as anything but snake oil are people who want on the gravy train because any sort of actual critical analysis (in the colloquial sense, not in the hijacked semantics of 'an analysis using critical theory') of their literature will make you realize that they were the academic equivalent of vape shop salespeople.

Schizophrenia can cause hallucinations, chaotic behavior, asocial behavior or disregarding many social norms, extreme anxiety and paranoia, and more.

To him, all of this makes sense, because there’s some little thing his brain picked up on. And then it starts making connections and patterns where there aren’t any. How can you understate the impact of affirmative action here? You said yourself that his Ph.D thesis is about on the level of a clever undergraduate in a goofball field.
Now consider that the thesis was written in 2019, but he was already (supposedly) in grad school (or at least taking grad classes) and teaching undergraduates at age 20 in 2010. He got the full boy-genius treatment when he was 9 years less advanced than what you just read.
