it'll be interesting to see if the neo-davies era will divide the fanbase, even more, seeing how many left-leaning DW YouTubers (Stubagful, harry's moving media, Whoniverse, etc), some of whom also don't like the direction the current era is in (although they refuse to blame woke politics.), absolutely ate up "
Years and Years" even tho its extreme propaganda:
Pretty much all of them are positive. I feel like we're headed into another last Jedi situation that is even more divisive than right now. (look on the bright side, it certainly won't be like the 7'th doctor's era.)
I do agree that RTD was restrained when it comes to inserting politics back in his first run. World War Three, Turn Left, and Sound of Drums were about as much as he could get away within the late 2000s, and you can see if you watched them back to back, they were absolutely test runs for an idea davies was bouncing around in his head that was eventually realized as Years and years. (adding to this, the main antagonist/nazi Nigel Farage's name in that program is "Vivienne Rook", which is the name of a minor character in the sound of drums.)
People who believe davies will get rid of the woke politics
really need to see Years and Years. If that program is any indication on doctor who's future.... i dread the sheer autism that is coming.
