Apparently, The Mirror wrote that McGann will get his own separate series on Disney+.

About fucking time.
Those are the rumors running today, but as of right now, that is all it is, rumor.

Originally run in The Mirror, so... yeah.

I would love to be optimistic about it, but if it happens, and if the writers are of the same ilk as the main series, it's just going to be shit.

If it happens, I hope Moffat runs it. Or at least someone competent like Paul Cornell or Tom MacRae.
just get the og big finish people who made shit like the charile/divergent arc
imagine those guys making something as crazy as zegraus and new who fags being exposed to the schizo nature of it for the first time?
edit: I know hes retired from writing but if any big finish allumni come back for this please, PLEASE get Robert Sherman to return to somehow adapt chimes of midnight on screen for mcgahn like he did for dalek

Agreed. Looks like his last Who work was in 2020.
I heard him in an interview, he made a point of some comic being the last Who he was ever going to work on. Of course people change their minds, but he seems like he's got a good head on him and Disney Who producer is a job I don't think anyone would want, they'll assign someone to it to make it into a Marvel movie. He was by far my favorite of the Wilderness Years Virgin novel writers, I always wanted him to be showrunner but it wasn't to be.

Julian Bleach is still great as Davros, chair or no chair.

EDIT:
Actually watched the video. Starting to think RTD might be a touch nutty, and not in the "fun, eccentric uncle" sort of way.

RTD has decided to extend his retardation to cripple advocacy

Moans about Davros being in a wheelchair is bad

:story:

Troonscript here

Speaking on new BBC Three companion series Doctor Who Unleashed, Davies said: "We had long conversations about bringing Davros back, because he's a fantastic character, [but] time and society and culture and taste has moved on. And there's a problem with the Davros of old in that he's a wheelchair user, who is evil. And I had problems with that. And a lot of us on the production team had problems with that, of associating disability with evil. And trust me, there's a very long tradition of this.

"I'm not blaming people in the past at all, but the world changes and when the world changes, Doctor Who has to change as well.

"So we made the choice to bring back Davros without the facial scarring and without the wheelchair – or his support unit, which functions as a wheelchair.

"I say, this is how we see Davros now, this is what he looks like. This is 2023. This is our lens. This is our eye. Things used to be black and white, they're not in black and white anymore, and Davros used to look like that and he looks like this now, and that we are absolutely standing by."

Davies added that Children in Need night felt like the perfect opportunity to debut the reimagined Davros.
"It's a night where issues of disability or otherness or being excluded from society come right to the front of the conversation. So of all the nights to make this change, I thought it was absolutely vital to do this. And I'm very, very, very proud of the fact that we have."

As someone who had absolutely zero fucking doubt nu-nu who was going to be a pozzed trainwreck right out the gate, allow me to say jesus fucking christ even im shocked at how embarrassing this shit is

Reply button is fucking broken for some reason but the shit with Davros framing it as "associating disability with evil" is insanity. Like it genuinely pisses me off, even more so than when they forgot Davros' eyes are supposed to be burnt out. Davros, much like the Daleks he was created to be the "creator" of, was meant to be an unsettling reminder of the horrors of war. He's not a "disabled people are evil!!!" thing. Anyone that fucking saw any appearance of him can tell his disability is not his character, and the fact he manages to achieve the feats he does with one fucking arm and augged up artificial sight is something that despite him being "evil" is framed as an achievement of sorts, RTD was the dude that reintroduced him as being the Daleks "pet", which is more fucking demeaning than like any other Davros appearance he's framing as backwards and offensive.

At these standards being retroactively applied you should remove the fucking Daleks because their whole fucking premise if you strip them down to "disabilities" is they are autistic and horribly disfigured people trapped inside wheelchairs with guns. Remove the cybermen because they're humans on life support taken to a logical extreme for the horror factor, and absolutely fucking remove any genuinely interesting concept involving the horrors of war or dystopian alien societies dr. who is well known for.

isnt the whole point that Davros is more or less equivlent to a 56% Groyper preaching about white superiority despite being a mutt who is so mixed he's practically a pitbull?
Racial purity and purity / health of body. They're eugenecists. The fact that their chief scientist becomes a crippled mockery of what they consider perfection is humiliating for them.

To do a story about a younger Davros could be fine. But to do it to erase a wheelchair-bound character is offensive and devalues the character. If you want to hear how core it is to his character listen to the intro to "Davros" by Big Finish.

Great voice acting. Much chills! I can recommend the audio to anybody who enjoys Classic Who: https://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/doctor-who-davros-214

It's often said that they write the Sixth Doctor much better on the audios and it's true. The Sixth Doctor is one of my favourite Doctors, alongside Troughton and Matt Smith.

The sixth doctor had some great TV stories and acting wise did a good job at being the doctor, but his weird intro and a lot of other shit that happened behind the scenes more or less fucked him over for a while in terms of "Public perception".

Saw the Davros stuff, knew it would be posted here. Unfortunately the actual reason behind it is likely even creepier, it's probably that RTD wants there to be sexual tension between the Doctor and Davros

As regards "disability = evil" never saw it, to me Davros was in the exact same sort of platform his creations were in, adjusted for his needs, due to being old as balls. It was life support for his old ass. We knew he could walk before since we've seen child Davros but RTD presenting it as a stunning and brave choice while sticking him in the standard issue SS-esque outfit is pathetic.

Even the Youtube comments are shitting on this choice.

Davros is also a guy that's implied to have looked normal before the "incident" where a landmine took his sight, took his legs, took his-well not his hearing but it did take one arm. Might be remembering events slightly wrong but it WAS an explosion that fucked him up and scarred his flesh. He wasn't implied to have looked like uncle fester in an SS outfit at any point. He was a scientist, not a military official. His assistant in genesis, Nyder, WAS a kinda nerdy looking military guy though so I'm guessing they just used Nyder as the base for the "improved" Davros.
