Was watching Nu-Broly again, and goddamn I love how once Gogeta goes Blue the tone shifts into him being the antagonist. He's out for blood by that point and it's sick. Plus it's just nice to get a fight between super saiyans that results in hilarious levels of destruction. Mountains are being obliterated with power ups, looks like entire land masses are being wiped off the map/terraformed thanks to the energy being thrown around. Just dumb fun.

I still prefer OG Broly's overall design though.

To be fair, if Broly did get killed during that fight, Gogeta, or at least Goku, would probably use the Dragon Ball wish to wish him back to life.
The fight against Broly was sort of one where Gogeta could go all out without worry.

That fight is, I think, the best example of "feels big" vs "is big". They destroy another dimension during it, but it got no impact because all you see is a cracking effect. Meanwhile just Broly dragging Goku on the ice feels big even if its not. The sound design and animation makes the fight feel so instense even if by all logic, they must be using like 0,000001% of their power to not obliterate Earth with a wet fart (specially since Broly is not holding back)

The one animated fight I think gets the same level is Superman vs Shazam in the Justice League cartoon from 2003.

That'd be great too, but I also just really want a straight Street Fighter clone. Closest we got was Hyperdimension or Super Dragon Ball Z. There was a similar arcade game I played as a kid too but it's been forever and I can't find info on it.

I still prefer his character too. People shit on him but he's the embodiment of what it means to be a Saiyan. He's a ruthless, battle hungry brute who gets stronger as he fights. He's also got PTSD which is a pretty interesting backstory, you usually don't see that kinda thing in DBZ except in Trunks.

Now that you mention it, Gogeta really didn't need to try killing him, he could've just knocked Broly out. But I guess he was on a time limit so maybe he had no choice.

"His backstory sucks because he only hates Goku because he heard him crying as a baby" People seem to forget the fact that not long after he was likely born he was taken away to be executed right before Planet Vegeta blew up with only himself and Paragus as the survivors. All of this when he was an infant. If the last thing I heard before such a traumatic experience was some asshole pissing and shitting right next to me, I'd associate that shit with him too!

It's also about some innate saiyan drive for conflict and domination, and how Goku's cries when they were babes was some sort of triggering defiance to Broly's overwhelming might or some shit. Because it's not like broly actually recognizes Goku's face or voice. It's his energy Broly feels and what sets him off.

I also kinda like to see it as a "getting caught up in the moment" thing. Like when Gohan ascended against Cell or when Goku first went Super on Namek.
Plus right before Gogeta goes for the killing blow we get that ominous little smirk from Whis as he says "looks like this battle is about to come to a rousing conclusion" or whatever. Probably just another one of those goes-nowhere moments but it's interesting that he's so jazzed about Gogeta killing a guy he really doesn't have to at that point. Broly had the Savage beaten out of him already.

Which is a little weird because energy sensing is actually meant to be a somewhat rare skill, where only a few planets figured it out. Earth and Namek, most typically.
Then again, the movies play fairly fast and loose with that sort of stuff, as Cooler was clearly able to sense energy in both of his appearances.

You also missed the part where the crying thing was so ridiculous and silly it overwrote any of your other points in the public conscious. Most people dont even remember what he's like before the transformation, big buff "do you love your son?" is all there is to his character. That's not going to mesh well especially when the character's best moments are him being badass. Fuck, if I didn't know any better, I'd swear the crying thing was a joke TeamFourStar did, because everything you just said feels so secondary.

Literally the only way you could say this shit is if you saw pedofaggot Kaiser and his bumboy Lani alog Broly through DBZA first. Nobody who watched that shit back then thought "zomg revenge for crying!!!" before TFSniggers started parroting it.

It's really blatantly not what happens in the movie, Goku's stupid hair is the thing that triggers Broly going berserk and him getting stabbed right next to Goku as a baby is a pretty self-explanatory reason why any of it is happening.

The crying shit is just meant to convey that Goku always had the stronger spirit despite being weaker. The only thing ridiculous is how TFS overwrote the DB fandom thanks to an influx of secondaries that only watched the dogshit known as DBZA.

And how much of that was well represented in the movie, english or japanese if the common conseus that he hates goku because he cried a lot?

And do you mean to tell me that the broly crying is dumb thing is an invention of TFS rather than something that was pervasive in the dbz community years before them? Thats like saying Goku being a shit dad was an invention of TFS, the crying shit probably wasnt even a thing to use against him by his detractors until the sequels and games removed what nuance there was to his character. TFS didn[t make up shit, they just redid the same old jokes for a new audience.

Edit: as an aside I would have preferred it if when he transforemed in the super version he got some of his Z sadism back. would have loved to see how that turned out with that caveman brain of his
 
Most fans admit they watch TFS before and often flood to the other accounts pf people who just got into the series to drop references acting like everyone knows them. One time my friend complained about it on her YouTube and got dogpiled.

TFS is just one of the few Abridged series that won't die until someone does something retarded. It's beloved but thr fandom needs to stop taking that seriously.

When I was younger I was disappointed that DBZA stopped, but shortly after I had learned what they wanted to do with Gohan and Dende (among many other things) I am so happy they never went further. So annoying how their obsessive fans insist that it's better than the actual show. Rewriting something with decades worth of what fans said "should" of happened is easy. Making original stuff is clearly not their forte, because I specifically watched the pilot of their garbage office derivative Unabridged. Even all those years ago I didnt find it funny. Fitting they themselves called it unimpressive in the title. My opinion has soured quite a bit. Good riddance.

Let me guess they wanted to ship them together. Most of what they did has ruined DBZ completely to this day I cannot fucking escape that stupid jockstrap reference or chuck or whatever

Oh my god, I saw fanart and fanfiction of it. And all I have to say, Dende should be shipped with someone who actually gets him, and the way you're phrasing it makes it seem like its a Yandere Situation. Considering they also did something with XV2, they could AT LEAST make an OC like they did with the Majin/Cooler pairing instead of sinking a canon ship. GOD I hate TFS.
