I'd go beyond that, to any game that requires many decisions and lots of thinking. Tactical RPGs and such. Like you say, these are rare times Dave is actually interactive, which the big dents desire.

Something like Disgaea would be good. He played them pre-streaming days and just rushed through them. He could listen to chat, go to chat saying "rite?" every 5 seconds, pretend to be disgusted by the silly story, etc...
I second this, he does everything to avoid TIHYDPs being made but Disgaea would inflict some harm as it encourages replaying stages and grinding (moreso in earlier entries, I've only played the first three) to get past the end game and he'll hate that

Throw in the xcom stuff and see how quickly save scumming occurs and his big speech about how it's bad gets memory holed

was up until 4am last night because i'm a piece of shit. let's fuckin' go

phil says he used to download a lot of illegal shit off limewire until his ISP yelled at him, phil then states he stopped but isn't sure if the ISP had any legal ground to go after him.

phil gets mad over the option to flirt with layzil

he is now stripping layzil of armor and putting it on Karlach, for readers at home it's usually a bad idea to armor Karlach because she's a barbarian and they get armor rating for NOT wearing armor. it's like putting plate mail on a wizard, you just don't really do that.

"i don't know how you guys are saying im gonna beat this game, i can't even navigate a menu."

someone sent phil a message and asked if he's a tranny, he said no.

he is just upping stats on all of his level ups instead of picking feats. seems kinda fucked up if you ask me. some of those feats are really good?

Mizora has shown up in his camp and phil is completely confused. "time for more plot that i'm not gonna understand! they really a dump a lot on you early on, i mean, we're only 15 hours in and there's 400 plot threads going on that im trying to keep track of."

Mizora curses Wyll for breaking contract and Phils reaction is "uhhhhhhhhhh. what? *leans over to chat*.......ok........now he's a demon? what? what the hells going on?"

"anyway, thanks blumkip for upping your membership for seven months of support. ok"

he really gives a shit about this story.

"is there an option you can tap his mouth shut? so you never have to talk to him because he's an idiot?"

phil really doesn't like Astarion.

"fucking weirdo. i suppose if he was shit eater he'd be talking about whose pile of shit we'd like to eat too huh? freak."

phil really doesn't like Astarion.

gale is yelling at phil to give him a magical instrument and phil is getting huffy because he can only give items from his active inventory.

"this is bullshit. i want to do it, but they won't let me check other stuff. why can't i check my other inventories? how dumb was that?"

"im not giving him the spear? fuck that. im sure we have stuff but i cant give him something in camp? it's frustrating to me when this game has shit like this in it."

it has been almost 2 hours since the gameplay started and phil has now left camp.

phil has suspiciously managed to stumble onto the build that has Astarion using two dual crossbows, which from what i've seen of it, is extremely broken. how lucky that phil decided to give his rogue dual crossbows on his first time playing. he's got such a great sense for character builds.

"YO, WHY AM I ON FIRE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I WANTED TO LOOT"

Karlach is taking out her trauma and destroying a building while Phil is in it.

"i don't even know what i'm looting, i just gotta look fast because she's going crazy. she's out of her mind"

yeah phil, welcome to women.

"im gonna die because i don't know how to move items in the environment"

"i have no idea what i'm doing and everyone in chat is yelling at me and i don't understand, so."

he accidentally set off a poison trap and instead of trying to remedy it he's just eating the poison full on.

this post is probably going to be my slowest because it's really really really boring. he's not doing anything. he's just running around picking up items, like, he's literally not doing anything.

phil has found a secret passage that i was unaware of, despite being in this room 3 times on 3 different playthroughs.

"you know, this game really is spoiling. seriously, that's total spoilers."

i have no idea what phil is referring too.

phil has gone through the secret passage, sees there are spider webs, and gets scared and starts backtracking saying he shouldn't do it. so we're runnin' away

phil's having a homosexual moment with gale and is laughing and looking away nervously, like an embarrassed school girl.

phil is confused by the sentence "a satisfying end to a wondrous experience. it's time to let go"

he for some reason can not comprehend what this sentence means and worries if he picks it Gale is going to touch his dick

"I don't understand what this means, it says if it's an end to the experience and you walk away, or it says you let go of another one(?)"

phil think it's "weird and out of left field" when sex or romance happens in video games.

phil is displeased that Wyll, a warlock, doesn't have any healing abilities.

he has made it to the Phasespider boss fight.

"why do i not have an action? i already had my turn? but we hadn't engaged in combat yet so how did i have my turn?"

you started the fight by attacking, that attack was your turn.

ok, he killed the phasespider matriarch without any real issue.

stream recap, phil spent an hour and a half in camp talking to people, he killed the paladins of Tyr for Karlach, he spent another 30 minutes in camp, he fought the phase spiders. that's it. that's what he did in 4 hours. still no closer to the Goblin camp as he was yesterday. he is now 17 or 18 hours into the game. for comparison when i played Early Access I beat all of chapter 1 (aside from creche) in a smooth 20-24 hours.

Honestly at the 18 hour mark he should be wrapping up this map and be moving either to the underdark or the mountain pass. But we still have the Goblin camp, the hag and as minor things the burning inn and gith dragon rider meeting

Same guy who is bumbling around menus and constantly asking his chat what spells are the best to use. Totally natural choices.

Is there any way to tell if he lowered the difficulty?
Pretty sure you get your HP doubled if you change difficulty and lose multiclass options when you level up, so it'd be pretty difficult to hide. I might be mistaken, but I think it's also the only thing that really changes from normal difficulty. BG3 is one of those games that generally starts off somewhat difficult and becomes a breeze as you learn the mechanics and figure out what you're doing. There's a few difficulty checks sprinkled throughout the game where it feels impossible if you haven't figured out what you're doing. At the rate Phil is going, I suspect he'll rage quit before he hits any of them. Especially if he's using a guide, since I imagine most of them will advise you to do everything else before you hit any of those points.

There's a few standard fights coming up that might give Phil some trouble because it requires a tiny amount of thinking to get in a better position, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up given the amount of handholding he gets in chat.

He found the Spectator. Also does anyone know many long rests you can do before the grove gets wiped?

alright kids, it's the night after christmas, let's see if he got visited by 3 ghosts and learned how to fucking game.

1mm giving phil advice on how to outright avoid combat.

phil was told to jump into the pit in the phase spider lair, so he did. this is an entrance to the Underdark and an instant death without feather fall. he saved beforehand tho

he is now using a scroll of father fall to drop down into the Underdark, there are some pretty tough fights down here, so i'm not sure what he's hoping to accomplish.

"this is the underdark huh? is there a point to being down here? should i bother with this?"

how fucking stupid is this dude. imagine finding an entire new area in a game and going "huh, why is this here? who cares?"

"this might be a whole waste of a stream, because people are saying this is super hard and there's no reason to be doing it"

phil just wasted a ton of food. he just mashed auto select food and used 52/40 resources. for those not understanding, you only need a max of 40 when you logn rest, game lets you do more for some reason, so phil just wasted 12 resources for no benefit. i bring this up because phil over eating in a video game amuses me.

"you know what this game totoally needs? needs to highlight new items you pick up."

it does.

"i guess we're not doing goblin camp today."

shocker.

the dice rolls really are the most fun part of the game for him.

phil has found the minotaurs.

he has missed his opening sneak attack.

he is also repeating randomly "mean-oh-tour" because that's the height of comedy, apparently.

valedictorian doesn't know how to pronounce "eldritch" and calls it "eldrick"

"iunno what i want to do here, it's a tough call."

as he leans over and starts mad dogging the chat again.

he has spent the past 4-5 minutes on Astarion's turn not making any choices.

he is now checking the hit chance of every single spell he has.

"are mean-oh-taurs humanoid? i don't know if mean-oh-taurs are considered human or not"

"mean-oh-taurs defeated!"

he did it, i'm so proud of him.

phil has hit the save limit, again.

phil has saved twice in the past 5 minutes, new save slot each time, i can see why he's filling them up so quickly.

he is trying to lock pick the door to the Selunite outpost, this caused him to get stuck in a dice roll menu while the outposts defenses ripped him apart. second game over of the stream.

died again attempting the same thing.

phil has now, by some fucking miracle, found the entrance to the Goblin camp from the Underdark, but he is unable to open it from the Underdark's side.

he has stumbled upon the Spectator fight.

life long nerd Phil does not recognize a beholder, literally the most famous D&D creature ever made.

"uh, why does he get 4 turns? he got 4 turns, he got 4 turns in a row? that's not fair, what do they expect me to do when he attacks four times, right? he has four arms so he can get four turns? while he can kiss my fucking ass, that's bullshit."

the fight is not going well so far.

"i get four turns too? no i don't, i didn't. i got to attack with astarion once"

phil doesn't realize he has 4 characters = 4 turns.

"NO, I ACCIDENTALLY DRANK THE POTION"

phil fat fingered his controller and drank a potion of greater healing despite being at max hp.

phil has summoned the ogres to help him fight the Spectator, i honestly didn't know they'd appear in the Underdark.

24 hours into the game and he doesn't understand that people freshly revived don't get an action.

he is displeased that the ogre AI is not immediately bum rushing the Spectator.

the spectator has taken down two of phils party members, the ogres ignore his cries for help.

after much trials and tribulations, and constant screaming at the ogres, phil has defeated the spectator.

"this game is taking away my fun."

he did not elaborate on what the fuck that means.

phil has deceived the ogres, promising them a "thalsand" gold for the next battle they help him in.

phil is highly amused because he managed to long rest using nothing but alcohol, something he's done many times in his life, i imagine.

he thinks a dice roll of 30 is "technically impossible"

even though you could roll 20 and auto-win.

stream recap. phil found the underdark, fought the minotaurs, fought the spectator, found the selunite outpost, the end. that's what he managed in 4 hours.

10 long reat at least that is what I read in the Steam comments
IIRC that was debunked. Uhh, actually debunked, not Phil style debunked. There was a lot of early theories that way more things are tied behind long rests than there actually are. There's a video somewhere on YouTube that ran through the list and tested them, but I can't remember who posted it. But Phil is orbiting around one of the actual time limit points, but I can't imagine he'll care if he hits it or not.

I could see Grymforge being a mixed bag, assuming he gets there. The fact he's in the Underdark right now makes me think he's relying solely on handholding from chat and not guides, I imagine any guide would say to clear the goblins first. He's not outright underleveled for Underdark, 5 is considered the optimal time to go there, but it's perfectly doable at 4.

The actual boss is really easy with handholding and anyone with 60 IQ could solve it with someone telling them what to do. So Phil might be out of his element depending on the precise level of handholding. There's also two ways to approach it so if the dents cross their wires Phil might get confused. But I think he'll be fine, he'll just take it very, very slow.

There's two potential headaches before the boss that might give Phil some trouble. Maybe two and a half. One of them is really positioning dependent and can become much harder if you don't know where to place your party members. If Phil isn't warned/handhelded in advance (which is part of why I'm trying to keep these posts vague) it'll potentially wipe him.

There's another notable fight in Grym, but that one I suspect he'll get handholded through. It might still give him trouble because he's Phil, but it sounds like he's really leaning into chat.

im not gonna lie, i've never heard about this whole "rest too long and the grove will be destroyed" shit. the entire problem the goblins face is not knowing where the grove actually is.

It's a dumb myth. You can rest as much as you want and the Grove will be fine. The only thing that progresses the Grove is leaving Act 1 for the Creche or the Shadowlands.

here we go boys, new post because im too lazy to edit the other one and jannies exist for this reason

some prestream nonsense

"i don't know how after 15 years i have failed to show my audience how good JRPGs are"

it's because you're a bad streamer phil. you're very stupid and very boring and don't have good commentary. combine this with games that are number heavy and gameplay slow, and no one is going to watch that. hope that cleared it up for you.

1mm is giving phil even more information about Underdark.

"what if i just spank the rest of the game because i did underdark early?"

doubt that.

"i enjoy the game is open world, that's nice, but it does kind of maybe make it a little more dangerous. because what if i stumble onto something i shouldn't be at?"

what if you just played the game? what if you did that phil?

"am i ever going back to divinity 2? fuck no. absolutely not."

just posting this to remind people phil only put divinity 2 "on hiatus" he said several times he might go back eventually, and surprising to no one, he never intended to. he only said that to try and save face over rqing another game.

phil is coping over how amazing his BG3 playthrough is and how everyone loves it and it's highly entertaining.

phil realized he reached the end of the podcast without mentioning how you can give him money, so now he's going to run through and list that.

he is talking about how people should seek out help and not be afraid to seek out therapy. funny, because when Sidescrollers asked phil about therapy he got wildly offended and skittish.

gameplay is now starting at 1:58pm, which means we have 3 hours of gameplay today.

he is now taking advice if he should continue into the Underdark or go to Goblin camp.

my favorite part about this rant he's on now is phil is talking about how he's essentially sequence breaking because he came to the Underdark too early. my guy, that's your fault? Your stream chat told you to jump down the hole to reach the Underdark and you did it. You would not have thought to jump down the hole on your own. you made up this problem of sequence breaking on your own because you refuse to just play the fucking game without hand holding.

"for someone like me who's only going to play this game once"

once? few streams ago you were kicking around the idea of multiple playthroughs if people kept supporting, where'd that go?

obviously phil was never going to play this game more than once, but this is just another example of how he'll just say shit with absolutely no intent to ever follow up on it.

someone asked phil to do an all survivors run of Dead Rising 1, phil claims he already did this, he did not, to my knowledge.

phil has discovered the alchemy menu and he is not pleased.

"oh, there's some dead peopel. what happened?"

phil doesn't remember the two brothers he saw harassing Auntie Ethel, he just found their corpses and doesn't recognize them.

only after casting speak with dead does he remember.

Phil has exposed Astarion to the vampire hunter and now has to fight Gandrel.

"why would he attack our whole party? I thought there'd be dialogue, he's a complete idiot, he actually thinks he can stop us? we have to kill him now. right? like, how dumb could you be. i thought there'd be no dialogue, no, he's that stupid. he wants to die."

he's a vampire hunter, and you told him you have the vampire he wants and won't give him it. what'd you think was going to happen?

"i'm confused why he attacks me because he's a moron. you would think he's going to be smart about it or you can convince him not to attack astarion, but instead he just says fuck it and fights? what a moron."

"only 30%? why does everyone have such high evasiveness in this game?"

you have an ability that adds 5 damage to -10 hit chance turned on.

phil says he didn't want to use any spells against Gandrel, then decided to use Hold Position, which didn't work.

"saved? take that saving roll and shove it up your ass. it's such bullshit, saving roll."

i don't think phil understands what Cantrips are? he specifically keeps saying he doesn't want to use any spells, but won't use Cantrips. For those who don't know, Cantrips are specifically low level spells you can cast for free.

phil has killed Gandrel.

an hour after phil killed Gandrel he is now confronting Auntie Ethel. In the hour between he simply explored the swamp and fought some Mud Mephits, it was extremely boring and aside from finding the Kagha letter, nothing happened. It was an hour of dead air.

phil has completely skipped confronting Ethel and is now inside of the Hags tunnel.

"oh no, is this the sister? i think this is the sister maybe"

the sister wasn't an elf, the sister is talking to Ethel upstairs, who you skipped past.

phil put auntie ethel's mask on, and before he could put masks on the rest of his team mates, he was mind controlled by Ethel, he now has to fight his team mates. his reaction to this is

"huh? how would you take it off? they won't let me unequip it?"

to recap, phil put on a mind control mask, is surprised he got mind controlled, and doesn't know why he can't remove the mask mind controlling him.

"i am so confused. i don't know. i put it on, it did something, but now i don't know what's going on."

phil was able to easily beat himself and take the mask off, since he is the weakest member on his team. if it had been karlach, would've been a bigger issue.

"so....what the hell is the mask for? this is SO confusing. let me make a separate save....."

i don't know how phil is confused. he found a mind control mask, he put the mask on, Ethel mind controlled him, and he's just fucking flabbergasted. he has no idea what happened.

really wish the game had taken longer though, like, phil was in the process of putting a mask on all of his team members. just imagine that.

"it's so dumb that it doesn't calculate terrain into your attacks, it absolutely should, stop wasting my time, it's starting to upset me"

what if you just played the game instead of demanding the game plays itself?

"only 40%? why?"

because you have an ability that adds 5 damage at the cost of -10 hit chance. you chose this ability. it's what you wanted.

"pretty frustrating, not gonna lie"

he is like 25 hours into the game and still struggling on basic combat encounters.

"80% chance to hit and it's a critical miss miss, what an amazing game. oh my god."

phil tries to long rest in the middle of an enemy base and is SHOCKED he can't.

"oh, so now the game changes the rules and you just can't rest whenever you want? even though i've ALWAYS been able to, now i just can't rest. we have no spells and no healing."

you're in the middle of the hags cave, you think you can just set up camp here and relax? fucking idiot.

"leave the cave to long rest? how?"

he left the cave and is long resting, he has still not spoken to Auntie Ethel.

"the game is very complex, has its own rule sets that aren't easy to figure out, this game and divinity are in the same style of game design and it's very different. just like the first time you started playing dark souls you won't understand anything"

first dark souls i ever played was 3, seemed fine to me?

phil is shocked that Astarion isn't very heroic and seems to just view him as blanket evil, instead of y'know, a trauma victim who is responding very poorly to his situation.

phil is wearing the viking hat, i bring this up because it seems he's phased the nazi officer hat out entirely. yeah, the nazi hat wasn't even on the poll, pretty sure it's gone.

'did you see that? the bodies just reloaded and fell down. it's that weird thing that happens with certain video games"

again, phil showing he has no idea how video games work despite them being literally his entire life.

"if you wonder why i don't split my party, it's because it's not easy to do. it's triggers, up down, selecting, it's too frustrating, that's why i haven't bothered with it"

so instead he's just dragging his entire party through a field of poison and land mines.

phils character has died, i believe this is his first actual party member death.

phil made it to the Ethel boss fight after completely skipping talking to her, for some reason.

he has also been silent for the past 3 minutes, complete dead air, he hasn't said a word.

"so....we got a cage..that's on fire...so we have limited time to save her because if we don't save her the cage will break and she'll fall into a chasm...ok...we only have one enemy..it's Auntie Ethel and she has 112hp...but what does hags trickery mean..."

i'm watching a genius at work here.

"wait a minute....there's more than one auntie ethel...."

think you've found what the trickery means.

"oh god...there's 1...2..3..4...there''s four ethels? are they all identical?"

he is mad dogging the chat before making a move against Ethel.

"you've gotta be kidding me, it's saying a tree will stop my toss? the tree will stop my FUCKING toss? alright, forget it then."

the hag has replaced herself with Mayrina, phil doesn't know which is real and which isn't. he's pretty certain he knows, but only time will tell.

he's now manually zooming in and trying to figure it out by looking at their models.

"you can figure it out by inspecting, this Mayrina is level 5, that's the witch."

ok, phil defeated Ethel and struck a deal with her. Wyll is dead. he's the only casuality.

end of stream recap, phil killed the hag Ethel. that's it. that's what phil did in 4 hours. i am not joking.

phil is wearing the viking hat, i bring this up because it seems he's phased the nazi officer hat out entirely. yeah, the nazi hat wasn't even on the poll, pretty sure it's gone.
Wrong moron, it is a replica M. Bison hat that doesn't even have the same color scheme. Quit saying detractor nonsense.

Handholding and pigroach luck on natural 20s has ruined BG3 for me
That's the pigs hoof for you. When he's not rolling nat 20's he's abusing wutdoyouguysthink positivity buff every 5 minutes. Good thing he has a save for every slot incase people don't tell him what they think and he needs to rewind time. He's a busy guy and can't spend too long staring at chat waiting for derichs to tell him what they think.
