Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
In all my years, I have never seen such a horrifically-written attempt at a Wikipedia article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Challenge
Honda.png

And in case you're wondering, the page has looked like that since December 2006. Most of the drivers mentioned on the then-current East Coast Honda Challenge have likely long since retired.

As of September, Wikimedia Commons has two photographs of Kiwi Farms owner Final Boss of Transphobes, Joshua Moon. That could be about to change, however, as one of them (the one of him holding a bible)[archive] has been nominated for deletion – allegedly for copyright reasons, although the timing is suspicious.

Original page (archive)

Reason for the nomination: There is no proof that Joshua Moon personally agreed to this being released under the CC-BY license. The archive link to the video suggests that the uploader is "Kiwi Farm Archives": that is a valid source, but does not represent a valid permission. For example, I can't reupload something copyrighted by Wikimedia Foundation on my channel named like "Wikimedia Foundation Archives" under the CC-BY license and have a screenshot of that video uploaded to Commons.

If you need any help translating Retard: the rationale for deletion is that it's a still from a (now deleted) MATI stream, which was marked as CC-BY when it was reposted on the backup channel. And this should have made the image CC-BY too, but Wikipetards still aren't sure if the official-looking Kiwi Farms Archive was actually maintained by a fan and, if so, whether Josh actually intended to release the stream and image as CC-BY.

It's funny how these people aren't above lying about him and smearing his name into the dirt, even when our "original research" clearly contradicts the media's lies about Byuu – but they will respecc the eff out of an image copyright that Josh doesn't intend on contesting when it would conveniently result in there being less of him around.

But of course, you can never be too careful of a copyright violation. This user in particular seemed fucking psychotic with the thought that Josh might attempt something using... less than legal methods, but she doesn't go on to specify further. She probably thinks he'll dox the personal info of every Wikipedia editor – "not to mention what other users of the site might do".
Yeah, apparently some Wikipedia editors who were discussing Kiwi Farms on the talk page had threads about them - with one getting their personal info leaked. I agree he and Kiwi Farms are noteworthy and should be covered, I'm just worried about a copyright dispute with this picture since if it is copyrighted Moon probably wouldn't settle it with methods that are civil and legal @User:Ikan Kekek. Not to mention what other users of the site might do at his behest/on his behalf. If we can be sure it's not copyrighted then we probably don't need to be worried. But if there are concerns about it being copyrighted - whether is or not - the consequences of taking it down would be better than the consequences of taking a risk. It's one photo. The article can cover his noteworthiness, so staking everything on this one photo isn't worth it Stephanie921 (talk) 16:47, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Stephanie, as one of these other users of the site, I'd like to know what it is you think we're going to do – call the fucking Feds? They're on your side anyway.

That image has been reposted more than Goatse. I have no clue why they are so scared of posting his picture.

I wonder if it has to do with the faggy Kflay hoodie? She has to be aware of the farms and Josh being a fan. Maybe her team reached out to Wikipedia and asked for that pic to be deleted and the rest is theatrics for her "protection"? Josh had her song linked to the front page a bit back and kiwis left messages on the original YouTube video, so timing fits.

If they were smart they'd use an image of @Null when he was chunky. Issue is that I think Hotwheels is in that all of those and Hotwheels would spaz out and use his Wikipedia Janny powers to quash it.

Null you better lose some weight if the Chris-chan lawyer calls you as a character witness. Also, if called as a witness drop shit about Byuu into the legal record when explaining the website.

No clue if it's been mentioned in this thread before so apologies if it's old news/not the best thread for it.

I occasionally have this site on in the background while I work/shitpost and it occasionally comes up with some neat pages, plus the sounds are pretty. TL;DR is whenever there is an edit on a Wikipedia page, this site has a circle that shows up with a musical ding to match. The bigger the circle/the deeper the pitch of the ding, the bigger the edit. (I'd recommend turning off new user announcements as it's loud as fuck and never stops, so use this URL or just scroll down a bit and tick the box to turn it off.) White circles are registered editors, green is unregistered and purple is bot edits.

You can then click the circle which will take you to a page that details what was removed/added/edited on the page that lead to the notification, and of course from there you can look at the full page or go somewhere else that might be of interest to you as you find it.

This one just showed up:

Is he even a notable figure? Oh that's right Wikipedos ignore their standards when they want to shit on people they don't like.
They also ignore their standards when it's people they do like too (such as John "Brianna Wu" Flynt) or their favorite astroturfed memes like "Sealioning".

The fact that Brianna Wu has a 1513 word article with two pictures despite only being known for being passively involved in Gamergate drama (He wasn't even the main "victim" Zoe Quinn was Wu was an afterthought) from 8 years ago is all you need to know about Wikipedia favoritism. Somehow Wu is notable but Chris Chan isn't.

Who did he pay off or threaten to get such good coverage by the way? John seems to have serious connections in the tech industry.

They all fucking do. Keffals, Yaniv and Challenor to name a few. They have the power to do things online that normal netizens couldn't even fathom. They can get your sites pulled, your accounts banned, all the way up to making the very mention of your name cause an instant shadowban.

And yeah, it's obvious Wikipedia's "Notability" caveat is complete bullshit. Can anyone explain how someone like Salvator Xuereb isn't notable enough for a wiki article, despite having appeared in shows and movies like 24, Pensacola: Wings of Gold (where he played a main character, and is the only actor on that show not to have a page), and Burning Dog, an indie film which has 100% on RottenTomatoes? Even his fucking surname should be notable enough for inclusion considering it's a very rare Maltese name of nobility.

Is Xuereb really less notable than someone like Ken Richardson for instance, an F1 driver who made one entry all the way back in the 1950s and never even made the grid because he wasn't experienced enough to drive a race car?

Somehow the murder of a random New York woman is more notable than Chris Chan's unusual crime that got international reporting.
It is alleged that a 61-year-old African American homeless man named Martial Simon pushed her
The sheer amount of random violence against Asian's by blacks is genuinely disturbing and a rabbit hole I was only recently introduced to. It's really no wonder they hate blacks so much.

They have long ran out of excuses at this point. The unspoken rule at Wikipedia is simple and clear-cut; Chris-Chan can never have an article.

There are so many technicalities he could be listed for, whether that's one of the most documented people to have ever lived, to being one of the most well-known internet personalities of all time, or something as simple as how KiwiFarms got its start.

They genuinely do not care. Chris-Chan is their sacred cow. He can NEVER have an article. He could commit mass-murder and still be relegated to a footnote.

Rooftop Koreans kicked it all off. Pretty much every racially-motivated attack on Asians by blacks since the early 1990s was consciously or sub-consciously influenced by the fact Koreans dared to protect their own businesses. They couldn't believe there were people out there who wouldn't let them be criminals. So for the past 30 years, they have harboured this grudge. They view Asians as legitimate threats against their lives.

How much of it is known to be racially motivated though? I'm sure some of it is, but there's simply a vast amount of random violence by blacks period, and some victims of it will be Asian. (It's hushed up when victims are white, of course.) It's similar to BLM, where every bad thing that happens to a black is automatically assumed to be because they're black, even though there's almost never any evidence of racial bias. The media is similarly fabricating a mostly imaginary wave of anti-Asian violence.

It's not even unspoken. They've said the article would be a tool of harassment and so shouldn't exist.

I doubt many blacks today are even subconsciously influenced by rooftop Koreans, and anyway the violence predates the LA riots.

Probably a lot of racial animus is due to how many Asians set up businesses such as liquor stores in black neighborhoods. The idle poor blacks see the Asians' relative prosperity and resent it. They don't of course connect it to hard work vs. doing nothing all day, and naturally the journalistic elite actively fosters the idea that all wealth discrepancies are due to racism.

The coronavirus also probably did make this worse.
