Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

That is a person with XY Chromosomes.
I guess Wikipedia now requires women to have XX chromosomes. While the scientific and Kiwi communities will likely be relieved, I doubt Wikimedia will take to it.

And here we see the insidious nature of the secondary source worship in action. It does not matter if the organization itself proclaims this, and the primary source of people doing research says so. The jannies demand a secondary source to add it as a fact, and it just so happens that the only secondary sources willing to speak and report on these facts are ones that fall into the "untrustworthy" category of Wikipedia.

The Views of Elon Musk article, discussed a few times upthread, has accumulated an odd collection of categories:

That's right, White nationalism in the United States. Wikipedia is clearly going to milk that one thoughtless tweet for all it's worth. Also American exceptionalism for some reason.

However, there are no categories for his actually important views, such as on business, marketing, Mars exploration, the environment, China, free speech, and so on, you know, things relevant to what he does for a living.

The "Views of Judaism by individual" category is a head-scratcher. Any article where a person expresses an opinion on Jews would qualify, which is quite a lot of people. It makes especially little sense for Musk, who is relatively uninterested in Jews and only unintentionally stepped on a couple of mines.

Looking at the category, besides a subcategory on papal views, we get a baffling collection:

Stalin and Churchill, next to Madonna, and also Constantine and Napoleon, oh and bin Laden. Where did they get this list? This has to be some of the dumbest shit on Wikipedia.

Wait a sec....

On almost all of those the gross column is less than the net production column. Which makes sense. But there's some on there (Dolittle too) where column #2 is higher than #1.

Yes, I know about marketing budget and the breakdown of ticket sales and all the other tidbits which can affect the profitability of a movie, but do you see any of that marked on the article?

Turkish is slightly debatable, but why are Kurdish, Zazaki and fucking Taqbaylit (language of Kabyle which is in fucking Algeria) considered Europoor languages?
Kurdish is Indo-Europeen

Zazaki is related to Kurdish and also Indo-European. Wouldn't explain why Turkish and Finnish are mentioned though:thinking:
Unless it goes for both geographical (Turkish and Finnish both being natively spoken inside of the continent) and also language family wise.
And as for Berber, no idea.

It's always nice when you come across a setence or paragraph that reads like some fiction. Found on the 1944 Iceland refendum page.

It's pretty short but this one line stuck out to me for some reason. Also that this page doesn't say anything about the independence movement up until the referendum and shit. Bold line is just so jarring and feels out of place.
The Republican celebration was held in Þingvellir on 17 June 1944. At 13:30, Prime Minister Björn Þórðarson set the celebrations going, after which a religious ceremony was held. The Icelandic flag was raised and the members of the parliament rose from their seats as church bells rang. All declared unilaterally that Iceland would henceforth be a republic. The members of parliament then chose Sveinn Björnsson as the first president. Sveinn had been regent of Iceland and the King's placeholder during the war years. He was the only president not elected directly by the people of Iceland.
It's appearently been designated as white supermacy now, because ancient aliens were in fact wypypo and they stole achievements of indigenous folkx :lit:
Can't clown retards without this now. Not the first time that I heard ancient alien schizos were all white supremacists though. Waiting for the Tartaria retards to get the same treatment.

New BluAnon lore dropped: Antifa isn't "an idea", it doesn't exist.

Also here's a life hack for easy Wikipedia trawling for drama:
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Wikipedia:SOAPBOX&limit=500
lists all the times soapboxing or "trying to correct wikipedia" has been mentioned in a discussion.
How is Civil War reeneactment a hate/terror group. What the fuck are a bunch of boomers and gen-Xers gonna do?

Oh yeah I forgot, you can't have an appreciation for the Civil War in current year beyond Union good, Dixie cartoonishly evil and Sherman should have beheaded every last man, woman, and child.

Language autism here. Finnish and Turkish are not Indo-European languages, along with Hungarian. Finnish and Hungarian are both Finno-Ugric (Along with Estonian), and Turkish is a Turkic language (Duh).
