The kid is happy about how all this turned out. He's getting scholarship offers and his family is coaching him through his entire PR. The only one who suffered from this is the teacher who found it suspicious that a young Muslim male had something that looked like a bomb.

He's a kid. He's 14 fucking years old. You can't seriously tell me that you expect him to be 100% capable of the rational thinking required to not do all that? Even so, you can't tell me that adults wouldn't do the same thing. I know plenty of adults who'd easily show off things they made even if told not to.

the Catholic church were the ones who set up modern universities and massive libraries in Europe and were trying there best to preserve and translate ancient texts. The only reason it's called the "dark ages" is because thinkers from the renaissance were butthurt they weren't living in Greece because they had a romanticized version of them like the Greekaboos they were.

True, and the Greeks and Romans themselves were far more backward than what Classical Era romanticists assume. They treated women significantly worse than they were treated even a few centuries later. They lived in states of perpetual war. Slavery was even more central to the economy than even the New World Era. Homosexuality was almost universally detested unless those who played the catcher were young boys. And the environmental destruction and totalitarian apparatus propelled by the Colosseums wiped out several once common megafauna and left deforestation scars which can still be seen to this day.

It pays to keep perspective.

Dude, you've technically got me in your corner in terms of the OP, but can't you just chill out a bit? Aggressively pursuing fights like this is why you've caught such a bad rap on this forum, even when you're saying things that are reasonable and factually sound. You get so bent out of shape that you crank the ad hominem up way too high and it makes you, and by extension what you're trying to say, difficult to take seriously.

The twist is that he only deserves being called a "genius" or whatever the media is calling him today if he actually was trying to get caught. If he just presented this thing as a project then he's just a dumbass kid with access to a hammer and a screwdriver and no understanding of racial politics.

When I was very little there was a kid who did something where he honestly should have been arrested or at the very least gotten the police involved and the principal was like "Oh yeah, we're gonna have the police come talk to him" and she never did anything and my mom was so pissed and she's still pissed to this day that the kid faced no legal consequences
And then there's this school where they call the cops for stupid shit like this come on.
Also, the mall near me got bomb threats a few months ago and they brought in the bomb squad, they don't just bring in regular cops to deal with bombs so why did they arrest him if they didn't think it was a bomb and didn't treat it like a bomb?
