Dungeons & Dragons: Wizards of the Coast Removes Problematic Lore - Wizards of the Coast continues to excise potentially problematic content from Dungeons and Dragons books to address issues of system racism.

he's not wrong tho. you tend to find the "creatives" more aligned with the liberal camp than conservative. and there's a big fucking difference between live and let live and KILL ALL WHITES!!11. guess which one you hear more from drowning everyone else out?
Well this is why art and creativity are in the eye of the beholder. I don’t find “this piece of media created decades ago doesn’t align with Current Year standards so let’s completely destroy it, denounce it as filth and remake it with tons of troons, BIPOCS and right side of history heroes” very creative, but you do you.

As for liberals not being the same as wokesters, that’s a load of shit and you know it.

Once again, this can all be blamed on 5th edition, the Critical Role faggots and both of those things ushering in a legion of woketard assholes who never would have given tabletop a second look beforehand. Wizards never would have capitulated to these freaks if they hadn’t been instrumental in making D&D mainstream.

This is why I’ll never play past 3.5. This shit makes me MATI
3.5 was even hit or miss. imo anything past planescape stuff in 2 gets iffy. i'd honestly play myfarog before touching the dumbed down shit that is 5th edition rules/lore. and i don't say that lightly.

real question for anyone who runs a game. how much of the lore as written did you use where this is an actual sucker punch vs homebrew up an entire world to run the game in?

If they redefine the beholder, do they think that they can they redefine what art is too?

Generally, canon lore and characterization is a skeleton that you have to build off of and around when you're running a campaign. Players can surprise you in all kinds of ways, so without meticulous planning and a reasonable ability to fly by the seat of your pants, you're going to get caught flat-footed by the choices the people at the table make ("what's the Drow high priestess's favorite food?")

That's the thing Wizards doesn't get about these lore changes: this isn't Magic, where the competitive environment means that rules have to be clear and strictly enforced. This is a social, cooperative game that people can (and frequently do) customize however they like. Saying "ok the Drow aren't an evil matriarchy anymore" has no teeth because you can't actually make the players comply.

Or maybe they do realize how empty this is and are just making a cynical play for woke points.

Or the worst of all "What's the Drow high priestess's slave's name?" I don't fucking know dude, I'm a DM not a fantasy name generator.

No i understand your point there and i may be an outlier but its been a very long time for me since any of the groups im in or run have used anything with more than a very loose frame working for campaigns so an "official" lore change up to me seems very.....remote i guess is the way to describe. like the game book rules are one thing but dm rules always overrule if its an established bit. so theres nothing to stop anyone who runs a game from going hey these are the basics of the settings here a quick note sheet and move on.
Or the worst of all "What's the Drow high priestess's slave's name?" I don't fucking know dude, I'm a DM not a fantasy name generator.
its drisit isakuk. everytime.

I own all the Cyberpunk core game books. Citation fucking needed.
Going to go out on a limb and guess he's actually talking about Shadowrun. Even then, it was a balkanization. Amerindians got magic first and took over most of the great plains forming their own nation, the South rose again and seceded successfully, elves took over Oregon because it was an old mythic kingdom of theirs I guess, California decided to secede and become a free city-state and Canada teamed up with what was left of the northeastern US. I guess you can blame diversity, but not in the way wokies usually do it.

Gygax may not have been a conservative, but he was a gun loving libertarian which puts him in the same camp as conservatives to leftists.
I'll thank you not to speak for me. I know full well about Gygax's libertarianism, that's why I said what I said in the first place.
Which brings me to your second part…

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh wait, you’re serious. Let me laugh even harder.
You want a cookie for an overused meme, sunshine? All out, I'm afraid.

Neither does anyone in this thread. Are you seeing anyone here carry water for that crap?

Except it isn't. Plenty of left leaning and self described liberals (even that numbnuts Vaush for fuck's sake!) can't stand wokescolds.

It's all about AD&D baby, THAC0 isn't even hard. People are just scared of arithmetic.
THACO wasn't the problem. It was that the Fighter/Magic User sliding scale that got me looking elsewhere. Besides, my first dance was Star Frontiers, not D&D.

I don't know beans for shit about Shadowrun, so I'll take your word for it. I figured he was full of shit.

im pretty sure things didnt fall apart in shadow run until dragonfall (think the jews run everything meme swapped for dragons in charge of the mega corps from cyberpunk and that rug gets pulled) in cyberpunk i think it was the virus that broke the internet then nukes and civil and corperate wars. i mean prob some filthy fucking clickers involved for sure but borgs are apparently people and all that, but cyberpunk collapsed under its worlds own autism. then you get 203X.

More or less. Ghostlord's shinnegans forced Netwatch to yank the plug and the greater internet went back to being more local and limited, the rest being no man's lands haunted by Rache's remaining programs like digital slasher movie villains. Silverhand and company triggered the nuke that turned Night City into it's current state.

that only happened after goblinization basically tore society apart (which depending how you wanna look at it might just be another form of virus doing it in other settings), first matrix crash wiped out a lot of capital leading to more civil unrest and government losing power, everything got more and more shit until everyone went "ok, we're doing our own thing over here".

not what he was talking about, and "everything with a guitar is rock music" is such a dumb generalization it's not even worth a sticker.

Goblinizatiion didn't help things but, and i could be wrong, magic and cybernetics compounding it is what would really make things go wrong. that guy you don't like turning into a troll is one thing. Him getting auged up and being capable of steam rolling through a car is another. some cunt blade ear on a power trip going high magic setting on you is where things become untenable.
IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL
yet here we are. i guess going roller or raffen shiv it is. gonna live in a scifi hellscape be a big hitter in it.
