Anthem looks much worse than their reveal trailer. EA really shot themselves in the foot by showing more of the game. Beyond that, it's all the garbage we all expected, from the fake/cherrypicked tweets to the awful GURL gamer presenter.

So, to recap the EA 2018 conference...

1) Battlefield V now has Battle Royale. I know. Please hold your excitement.
2) Fifa 19 will have a UEFA Champions League... but before we go any further, let's take a moment, and reflect on this trophy... yes, yes... nice trophy... hm.
3) Origin now has a "Premier" edition. Because.
4) Battlefront is getting Clone Wars levels, including General Grievous, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Dooku. Also apparently there is now an Ewok stage or something.
5) It is revealed Respawn (the Titanfall people) are making a SW title called Jedi: Fallen Order. They didn't shown any art or even a logo. Just was announced by one of Respawn's developers... just... sitting there in the audience. Yup.
6) HIGHLIGHT OF THE SHOW: Unravel 2, now available, and Sea of Solitude looking like Depression Quest 2: Now With Actual Gameplay.
7) You like Command & Conquer? Well oh boy I bet you'll be SO EXCITED to know that C&C is now... a mobile game! Also, this may be the saddest part of the entire show...

Anthem is what happens when Destiny and the Iron Man get hot and heavy in MMO land. It's got lot of pretty particles but there is nothing really that makes it feel like it has its own identity. Literally, it feels like "Video Game As Designed By Committee."

That presentation was actually better than I expected. Don't get me wrong, the host was fucking horrible, there weren't many games announced (and the way Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order was announced was very lowkey), and they dedicated way too much time to a mobile game.

On the other hand, Battlefield V looked awesome, the Battlefront 2 news was good, Jedi Fallen Order sounds interesting, and Anthem looked alright. While it was an overall mediocre conference, at least some of the stuff they've shown looks promising.

I know it's a long shot, but tomorrow at Microsoft's conference I want to see Rare revive one of their classic IP. They've been shelved for over a decade now and it's such a shame.

I'd really just like to see a new proper Banjo game. Nuts and Bolts wasn't bad, it just wasn't Banjo. I feel like they did a good enough job with the remakes on 360 for Kazooie and Tooie anyway.
