Back when Tim Schafer was based and not the soy-boy he is today.
when asked if the comments about accessibility in Psychonauts 2 surprised him, Schafer responded: “I was kind of surprised that it was news. Like I was really happy to be on the right side of that, I just thought everyone knew this and that it’s obvious that games should be enjoyed by everyone.”
Between him and Ron Gilbert, what's with former LucasArts game designers and becoming completely beta in Current Year +6?

I mean Tim Schafer put it in a dumb way but nothing wrong with accessibility options in games as long as they don't mess with the main game.
Except it sounds like it did.

It didn't limit itself to large subtitles, remapping or colorblind correctness. If I remember right - because fuck giving Mr. Shitface (that's an anagram of his name by the way) money - they fundamentally altered the gameplay. Then again my memory may be playing tricks on me again and I'm gonna be honest, he's not exactly a major plot point in my life.

I mean c'mon that's pushing it a bunch, both the Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle remasters are the way they are because they were designed with controllers in mind. And they give you the choice of using the original SCUMM interface so I don't see the problem?

Nah, they made it impossible to fail or something in Psychonauts 2. That's what he was referring to wasn't he?

But remapping is something all games should have regardless of controller or keyboard. That's proper accessibility for people with arthritis up to Ricky Berwick tier hands. Subtitle sizes for poor eyesight. Colorblind correctness for obvious reasons.

Unless you're upset his anagram is Mr. Shitface, that's not on me. His parents named him.

In other predictable news, NBA 2K is celebrating Michael Jordan again with a brand new, NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition game in their series

The last time MJ was on the cover for 2K was when NBA 2K11 was released over a decade ago, and it was largely considered to be the best game in the series.
I at least understand it because he's famously jersey number 23 on the Bulls.

I hope so too, we need more good games. I haven't tried the series yet, do these need to be played in an order?
The main thing I'd say is that Valkyrie Elysium is not representative of the series. I mean they're called Valkyrie PROFILE because they're side scrolling and featured a, at the time, unique action turn-based battle system (MANY games have tried to duplicate it but nothing beats the original Valkyrie Profile).

Could be good. Itagaki's studio is making it and I hear they did good on the new Samurai Jack game. I should really play that sometime. But yeah it's a spin-off and a generic looking one at that.

They already ruined Valkyrie Profile when they made Covenant of The Plume, it wasn't 2d but in isometric view and it was an SRPG.

Is this not just a physical release of the already existent remaster of Day of the Tentacle that's been out for years now? I know the remaster was available free to play for PS+ subscribers a few years ago.

SEGA Genesis Mini 2 blasts its way to North America on October 27th!
Oh good. More Genesis games. Not like there are TWO OTHER CONSOLES THAT CAME AFTER THE GENESIS THAT DESPERATELY NEED LOVE, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. Nope, the Genesis is literally the only console they ever made in the 90s. Now consoom the slop, pay-piggies! 🙃

At least they're putting some CD games on.
  • Sonic CD - can already play a better version of this with the decompilation + the Restored mod
  • Shining Force CD - actually kind of a cool inclusion
  • Silpheed - the inferior version that uses FMV backgrounds instead of actual polygonal ones, fucking lol
  • Mansion of Hidden Souls - AN ACTUAL 90s WALKING SIMULATOR, TOP KEK
  • Night Striker - Space Harrier derivative
  • The Ninja Warriors - arcade beat-em'up
>no Snatcher
>no Popful Mail
>no
Lunar

They've only announced like 20 of the 50 included games. If I look at the line up of the first Genesis mini, which was pretty fantastic, I am pretty certain that they will reveal Snatcher and Luna later on.
And they milk the Genesis so badly cause it is their one console that was really successful in the USA. A Saturn Mini would probably be Japan exclusive and a Dreamcast Mini would be to expansive since they would need to include some kind of Online capabilities.
Whats kind of sad is that they haven't really rereleased the good Sega Master System Games or created a Master System Mini but that's probably because it was only really successful in Europe.
